  • @MrToyo96 Clearly you've never driven a cobra. It's like driving on black ice when it's got over stock horsepower. It's not like the challenger or new mustangs, it has a less wide stance and worse suspension. you'll spin your tires through first and second. It's not as easy as driving a GT or even a mach 1 where you hook and go, but when you do hook in a cobra, the race is over. lol

  • @bhrodeoaz I drive a 03 Cobra so you can call me a Ford fan, I beat Challengers SRT8's and Camaros all day long, but I love muscle cars, the old Challenger was cool in the 70's but the new one is crap, too big, heavy and handles like a boat. If you check the MT comparison stock to stock the 5.0 beat the SS and the SRT8

    Also your "turbos" argument is not valid, you can add turbos to any car and make it faster, I can get a compound system (google it if you don't know WTF i mean) and get 900+hp

Myself I have a Challenger and have more people gawking at it than I ever have with my Mustang

  • that cobra is too light to grip the road like the challenger. if the cobra had more grip, the challenger wouldn't have been in the lead at all. on the other hand, if that challenger had a supercharger that could produce equal power gain to that of the cobra, it woulda close but my money would still be on the cobra

  • all cobra mustangs come supercharged first of all, second my grandma that cant move can shift better than the guy in the mustang. he had time to shift twice between shifts and he still killed the challenger.

  • @ralatorre9 yeah thats really the worst part of the challengers. My R/T Classic with 1/4 tank of gas and no options, weighs in at 3995lbs at the track without me in it. It's a great car, great torque almost perfect gearing, just too damn heavy.

  • @thatguy35968 i dont mind the weight. ive always had heavy vehicles and can handle them just fine. i dont think its too heavy as far as being a practical driving car that you might want to race sometimes. now at the track , not so much. everyones going to be runnin a better power to weight ratio. its a bit heavy to be a drag racer "as-is". where it may lose in the 1/4 mile, it makes up for it in top end and has the most usable interior and trunk space. they are great to mod and i perfer the 5.7.

  • @thatguy35968 decent dicplacement out of a 5.7L same as the mustang n/a 3v and 4v 4.6L engines stock. 6.5hp per TENTH of a liter. aka: 65-66hp per Liter.

    What makes a challenger r/t loose to a 05+ gt is it's massive 4,000+ curb weight.

  • @lilpierce11 Here is the big question, what year Cobra was it? Many model Cobras ranging from 240hp in 1993, on up to 305hp in the mid-late '90s... to 320hp in the early 2000's and 400hp in 2003 and 2004, so it all depends on what year. So no way in heck any Challenger stock will beat a 2003-04 Cobra. Plus, the cobra is alot lighter than the Challenger.   • your right the 2011 srt challengers do weigh about 4100lbs but the video shows a 2009 rt and sense i own a 2010 rt and seen the tag inside my door i know what it weighs in at and it is a hell of alot more than the 2011 challenger

  • my tag on the inside of my door says 4550. online specs for my cobra show 3800 while the srt8 is 4100. not a big difference. plus their 6.2L hemi has a higher hp rating than cobras do stock.

    a stock srt8 won't run with a pullied cobra either..  Based on what I seen at challenger fest, you need 600rwhp + to run with a good running pullied cobra in a challenger.

  • @QuicktimeGT I'm not sure you have your facts straight. 600rwhp is HUGE. A pullied cobra is only eclipsing 410ish rwhp. A complete standard "bolt-on" terminator is in the 450rwhp neighborhood. IE: pully(idler pully), mid-pipe, cat back, cold air intake and performance tune(usually SCT)...and possibly drag radials(nitto). A car with an additional 150..."rwhp" is more than sufficient to get the best of a bolt-on terminator. Though I think both cars are great, I've got a 04 Terminator.

    When my car was still a "pullied cobra" : stock blower 2.8"/2lb combo, a throttle body, intake, and exhaust goes an 11.37@120. That was on a solid rear axle and slicks, but honestly any LX mopar has to bring a lot to the table to run with a cobra. A friend has a 300C with a vortech and he is running 11.6ish in it..

    The challenger is an awesome car, but its going to need quite a bit more power to run with any cobra.

  • lol At all of you people saying the guy in the Cobra cant drive. Have you ever driven a high hp rwd car with 410 gears or steeper? Im guessing no. He did as best as he could since the car was spinning through 3rd gear, esp. with 456 gears. His shifting was fine, you hear him floating the throttle to try to hook up as much as possible before he shifts so he does not bog down in thr next gear. Im sure his driving is beyond you knuckelheads lol

    and cobra's have 3.55 gears stock, i HIGHLY doubt that he has 4.56 gears in the back, they wont fit in the IRS housing IIRC.

    and that would require 5th gear at the end of the 1/4 mile = pointless...

  • The Challenger did that good off the line because it doesn't have near the power the Cobra does so it should hook up a lot better. And yes the Cobra needs a driver mod, and less gear. 4.10's in my car are a handfull. With street tires I could downshift @ 80 and break them free.

  • The Cobra shifting has already been said (too many times) but that did make for a better video. Better driver in the slower car.
