FUCK THE INDUSTRY im fucking better then half these shit ass dubstep producers and i get 100 view max on my fucking video's? you fuckin kidding me? i have better basslines then skrillex seein as his shits all roars. and this is how i get big? i devoted my whole fucking life to music and i finally found something and this is what happens? fucking passion n bullshit FUCK THE INDUSTRY
I believe that in the future(and it's not so far away), music will be available for free and the people who enjoy it will be able to make a donation which will represent their appreciation and their wish to give back for what they have received.
This will be a reflection of the shift of consciousness that is taking place on our planet.
All systems that centralized and give power to the few will collapse and we will have alternate systems that are decentralized and empower people. peace
I have extreme talent with computers. I am also a talented musician with perfect pitch. Can I make it big in the music industry granted that I am very good with computers and is capable of composing, arranging and producing music on a computer? Probably not, granted that musicians these days are so jealous of each other.
Also big labels are not dying, they still get alot of money, just less than the amount they got before. But they still get alot of money. How a thing that controls 81% to 70% of the market (according to a pic in wikipedia) is dying?
What we have to do is focus on the listeners and not on artist. Make the listners know that there is a huge music world out there. Open the curtains. Well, not open the curtains, show the curtains, because the listeners dont even know this curtain exist.
The big labels still have a huge amount of control. Tv stations and radio stations still play mostly 100% of big label stuff only. So, in the end this make most of the population think that there is almost nothing out there. And so, making impossible to them to search on the web about it, because they dont have a idea that this extreme amount of musicians exist.
You have the best song in the world, (well good music is subjective) if almost knows that you exist. They cant listen to you.
How To Break A Record - The show is about two artists (Fokis & Big Sence) who document their journey of trying to break a record. By definition "Breaking a Record" is when a record goes from relative obscurity to popular and/or commercial success. The record "I'm Into You" is a feel good record that is geared towards a mature audience. With guests appearances from Senior VP of Jive Records Wayne Williams, (who happens to be responsible for discovering the King of R&B R. Kelly) and many more.
i say the best way to make money in the industry now is publish your music online and advertise yourself on the net as much as you can. then, tell your friends and get them to tell their friends and develope as big of a fan-base as possible. Then, lay lots of clubs and try to get ppl you don't know to buy your stuff.
Do it like Enter Shikari, forget the labels, make your own and you have complete creative and commercial control! Difficult and taxing, but highly worthwhile, I imagine...
all u have t odo is be real. im a white rapper, but my story goes deep and so does the pain from my life. all i do is keep rymin and tell my story. im gonna make it big some day because im determined and i have the lord to go to for help,,, just wait and see,, and remember this comment because what m sayin will happen cuz i give it my all every day.
This shit is depressing.... the number one goal in my life is to be a singer and sing in front of 100,000 people or more... that is the one thing that I want to do before I die and it seems pretty much impossible as of now.
Actually I don't think it was meant to be depressing, quite the opposite as far as I can tell. It's seems to suggest that the colapse of the industry as it has been for a long time will benefit artists because it will enable people with music careers to have more creative control over their music, and that there are other, better avenues to getting one's music out there than depending on major labels, A&R people etc.
All genres can be rooted back to it. For instance, metal traces back to rock, which traces back to country & rockabily, which traces back to jazz & blues, which traces back to classical. Yet modern pop comes from somewhere else. You see, pop artists realized they can't be as good as Jackson (who constantly brought in elements of rock, jazz, etc), so they copy Madonna's "sex sells" formula of "success." That is why the music industry is dying. You see, sex outsells talent anyday.
Blues was a blend American folk and African chants, rooted in the African-American hardship which began to take form during the slave trade, not linked to classical music which grew from European Culture.
But you're right, sex outsells talent, its a sad sad truth.
Also, everything the current music industry is doing is against the classical musical theories of the greats. Wherever there is good complexy music, you can find classical inspiration.
Also, the synthesized, artifical stuff is beating out the real legit stuff-in music, movies, & tv. People listen to Britney Spears-yet all of her songs have millions of dollars of editing behind them since the beginning. Led Zeppelin barely had any money behind their debut album. Yet all Britney Spears managed to do was sell singles because "her song is on the radio", while the rest of her album was mediocre; Led Zeppelin's debut album on the other hand, has only incredible songs.
If you think the music industry is better because any of this, you're wrong. At least the Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, & Britney Spears have somewhat good voices. Now we got shit like Hannah Montana, Vanessa Hudgins (or whatever that one slut from High School Musical is named), & The Jonas Brothers who have no talents or anything. If anything, music is going to hell. Plus lack of record sells are gonna prevent the next "legendary band" (Beatles, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, etc) from ever being big.
While I understand why you said it has been dying since 2000 (via record sales), it's been dying since the mid-90s, when all of this shit got mainstream. All the fake processed music shit took over then, it just took the better part of the 90s for people to realize it.
But notice that any serius musician knows that it takes much more talent and genius to compose an original, beautiful SIMPLE song, maybe a 3-chords 4 minutes one, than creating a 30 minutes symphony full of 32th notes impossible arrangements... The latter only needs time; the first one needs talent.
look up a song by Matt Pless called "in the past tense"....this is a guy who is out writing everybody with the simple (and dying) formula of 3 chords and the truth....the fact that this guy has yet to be discovered and at this rate , probably never will..... is one of the downsides to the death of the corporate music machine.....which, like it or not, was the only reason we ever goto hear the cobains, dylans and lennons of the world...what a shame
The Music Industry is so fake and full of Bullshit. After watching the Grammy Awards - it's all just such BULLSHIT. All of those artists SUCK compared to real musicians. Take some composer who writes a 17 min. piece and it takes the person like 3 months - why aren't they on the Grammy's? No a bunch of RIP-OFF Loosers like Coldplay, (DickPlay), go and win best song of the year - WTF. That is RETARDED!!!

If you want to make it big in the music industry just jump into the mainstream like the rest of the greedy losers and pump out some stock music.
