hey this worked for me at first. Just one question though, once Im bridging the connection the laptop loses its wifi signal after about 5-10 mins. Know how to fix it? ANy help is appreciated, thanks

@blundie1993 the only simple solution to this is deleting you wifeless network and trying again. otherwise its a problem within your firewall

Okay, so I bridged the connect, I am 100% sure that I bridged the correct ones. I connect the xbox throught the ethernet port (I know this works correctly) then I connect my xbox to it, (I know everything works correctly on that end. The xbox will not connect to it thought!

Hey man im trying to connect but its not letting me,I have internet access with a fast working wireless network but it tells me (cant detect your network hardware make sure your Ethernet cable is connected) but it is to the laptop and the consul! can someone please reply with a answer!

@KevinJrBurnstv you need to just plug the xbox in directly to the router to make sure thats compatible and that the cable works. then once they work if you follow the steps it should work wirelessly through your laptop. also keep your laptop up to date as sometimes these problems happen because of old and new software clashes. update using windows updater

@jordan3802 you can leave your connection bridged and continue using you computer no problem so there is no need to do it every time. and yes you can connect it straight to the router. this tutorial is to show you hoe to connect to xbox live if you are out of wiring range. best of luck

@bodiemonnig ive found from some other people that sometimes if they do not use the 'xbox' internet cable it wont work. if you are using that and it still wont work then im sorry but there isnt much i can do. just delete the Bridge, disable all networks. then start again. thanks for watching. if you still have problems PM me

@travis101gamer im sorry, after looking at some different laptops i found it may not work even if you have windows 7 on some laptops. it simply depends on how you laptop is wired....so if you do what I show you and it doesn't work its probably not possible to fix it via. settings...again sorry and maybe try and find another method

ok so i got it to bridge and everything and the internet on laptop still works. its connected to my xbox and it has the ip address and and it says xbox live is up and running. even lets me do some of the updating for it. but then all of a sudden it says there is no connection even though there is. im sooo confused

when i try to bridge the networks .. its says i must select two LAN or highspeed internet connections that are not being used by internet connection sharing .

@xUncleTonyx what it means is confusing because the network bridge wasnt made so u cd link it to a console and basically use ur laptop as a router. u need to make sure youve connected it to the correct network connections. they both need to be enables but only ur wireless needs to be active and working. message more details if it still doesnt wrk

@xUncleTonyx mine said that too at first. what you have to do is go to the main one which would be your internet connection and on turn of file sharing. you do this by going to the little arrow in network conections by diganose this connection. then go to change settings of this connection and turn off file sharing. then it should work and be able to bridge.

I own A compaq with windows 7

The error message is when im trying to connect to xbox live

When i try to connect im successful connect up to the internet part

halfway when the bar is trying to connect to xbox live i get a message "a system update is available from xbox live if you decline you will be signed out of xbox live"

so i say yes and i get the error message" cant download the update"

i have tried to download the update and installing by disc but it didnt work

@McCartyJackson2012 as long as you are connecting as far as xbox live then you are connected to the internet. there is obviously from your description a problem with your xbox's connection to xbox live. you may either want to get you xbox checked for a fault or create a new account. sorry i couldnt help anymore but you seem to hav an actual fault rather than a settings problem

well firstly just double check that you follow the exact procedure I did. When I did it with my xbox it connected to the Ethernet with no setting up required so there shouldnt be any fault... if the problem persists you should seek further information from blogs etc. i will attempt to find the solution to your problem but im very sorry it doesnt work...it may also depend on your xbox as i have an xbox elite mw2 and an older model may not support this routing.
