I've seen several "The Music of John Williams" performances played by different orchestra's but they all play "Star Wars" and "Harry Potter". The problem is "Memoirs of a Geisha" has his best melodies. It's disappointing really.

Beautiful piece by John Williams. The phrasing on Itzhak Perlman's violin just tucks on my heart. Bravo!

On the movie, it was disaster to have the two major characters, Sayuri (Zhang Ziyi) and Hatsumomo (Gong Li), played by non-English speakers. They should have either casted English speaking actresses, or performed the film in Chinese. The latter would have been spectacularly international -- a book written by Arthur Golden (American White) about a part of Japanese society, acted in Chinese.
