Family tree connections aside, the only thing Bernie and Randy have/had in common is their hair color and the fact that they play(ed) guitar. In terms of style Rhoads and Torme couldn't be more different. Which is exactly why Bernie bailed on the Ozzy gig again. His playing style was too different from the Randy blueprint.
is it just me or does the voacals sound dubbed? ....(i dont think i spelt that right) ha well dont go crazy at me everyone im just asking ...i love gillan one of the kings if not the king of rock vocalists ...Child In Time all the way baby
Amazing performance by Ian Gillan, his voice is wonderful, like he was this month in Budapest. All the new songs were fantastic with the old ones too.He wrote so many great songs and he still does it,trully a greatest artist all the time in the hole universe. Finally he works with the greatest musician in the hole galaxy.Future looks bright.
Bernie left Gillan essentially because he didn't want to go in a more "commercial" direction which Ian was heading for....Too bad....I loved these guys too!
Which eventually leads gillan to Sabbath, I can't think of one band that went commercial that I like, Did anyone like Bernies first gypsy record, I have it but never got much play
Yes...commercial...he and his band mates have said so...they wanted a more commercial sound so they could get an American contract...compare "Magic" to "Glory Road".....didn't work.....
Bernie Torme...very underated guitarist. Did not want the big rock star thing....thats why he was never in a big band for very long. His choice....respect mate.

Right before he joined Sabbath. Tony wanted him to wear all black so Gillan traded the red jeans for blue ones.

Bernie Torme is like...Ireland's answer to Randy Rhoads...
Randy-Worked with Former Sabbath singer Ozzy
Torme-Worked with Former Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan
Sabbath and Purple are arguably two of the most influencial pioneer metal bands out there
Torme and Rhoads kick ass
Torme also played with Ozzy after Randy died...
Only thing is...Torme didn't die...

I know this comment was a year ago, but it's an interesting one. Odd that you didn't mention Torme playing for Ozzy right after Randy died.
I'd also say Vivian Campbell should get a mention as the Irish Randy Rhoads, as he played for Dio after his tenure in Sabbath also.

Bernie Torme should of replaced Blackmore... perfect!
