I just read "Everybody Loves Our Town" and when the part came to Layne's ultimate demise, I had to stop for 5 minutes, no more haunting voice in Rock N' Roll ever, so sad he faded away so young
Layne we love you, because we all know, you loved us. Thank you Alice in Chains for giving us the best goodbye present anyone could ask for. simply amazing group of guys. peace everyone :)
Sean Kinney is such an underrated drummer. He is my kind of drummer. He's all about the warm percussive tones, and the minimal use of brass. Too many drummers will sit there and continuously beat on brass through an entire song, and rattle the fillings out of teeth.
this is BEAUTIFUL. i would give away my kidney to be there... love cantrell's voice, they made an amazing duet with staley, and also - Layne's laugh before "over now" <3
Nutshell 0:00, Brother 4:22, No Excuses 10:00, Enter Sandman 14:31, Sludge Factory 16:36, Down in a Hole 21:29, Angry Chair 28:22, Rooster 33:03, Got Me Wrong 39:26, Heaven Beside You 43:52, Would 49:01, Frogs 53:16, Over Now 1:00:29, The Killer is Me 1:07:30.
this is awesome, but nirvana's unplugged's best all time. kurt's screams in pennyroyal tea and where did you sleep last night gives me the shivers every time
i read a interview somewhere a long time ago with jerry cantrell who said the night they did this he had a horrible strain of the flu. he wuz throwing up all the way up to the moment they stepped onstage. phenomenal performance from him and the whole band!!! RIP Layne Staley
Almost 5 years clean in July and rock n roll has had a huge effect on my life. Especially layne staley, kurt cobain,Jimi Hendrix Jim Morrison and lost talents like that. Layne expressed his struggles very openly. It sucks that the demons can take something beautiful from us.
I think Layne was thinking " i wish Jerry would stfu and just sing the chorus! That's what i was thinking. Possibly turn Laynes mic up and Jerry's down.
i miss lane, kurt, and the 90s grunge scene so much , my god what happened to music, no one will ever bring back what kurt cobain and lane staley took away with them , R.I.P. KURT COBAIN , LANE STALEY , AND LETS NOT FORGET DIME-BAG DARRELL!!! YOUR SO MISSED!! :-(

@ProtestMoveOn They're different bands. They both do things musically better than each other. Stupid sentence on your part. Pearl Jam is one of the best American bands of all time. AIC is my personal favorite band, but at the same time, their poor choices kept them from fulfilling their potential.
Alice in Chains is in a different league than Pearl Jam. Alice in Chains music was a true story book into their personal struggles and artifical love highs from the eyes and heart of a heroin addict, myself as a recovering heroin addict can relate. I don't mean to rip on Peal Jam, but in comparison, they remind me of the kid brother who wants to be cool like their older brother but never quit fills the shoes yet is successful within their own league .
@ProtestMoveOn I don't think that comparison for Pearl Jam could be any more wrong. The band I think that most relates to is Stone Temple Pilots. They're the ones that tried to be AIC or Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam were just 5 regular dudes who liked to vent anger that a lot of normal people felt. Don't get me wrong, I think Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley were great songwriters (Especially Cantrell), but Eddie Vedder is a lyrical genius himself. Like I said, they're different types of bands.
@NickODU2015 To further prove my point just wait 10-20 years. Alice in Chain will still have a heavy radio presence much like the Doors where as Peal Jam may have an occasional song in rotation.
@metalFlover because I love both bands, just because I prefer one over another doesnt mean I wont listen to them both, that's like me say i think led zepplin is better than the beatles, and you saying then never listen to the beatles again!
Hahahaha, did you read at the end who Alice in Chains would like to thank ? xD " dance instructors, dog trainers, circus freaks......" I laughed so hard xD I like their sense of humour :)
