    Thanks avainash !

  • The music is simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing. After all these years, I never tire of listening to it.

  • This poem is by Kavi Anil - A.R. Deshpande - my grandfather.

  • @amindeepika - tyana maza pranaam saang! aprateem shabda ! :-)

  • @amindeepika Kavi Anil was a milestone in Marathi Poetry.father of Dashapadi, his earlier poetry was both romantic and idealistic. His critics had a complaint- "he is too easy to understand!"-tyanchi kavita Subodh aahe- durbodh naahi! I am however also an admirer of your granny- Kusumavati bai. I read their Kusumanil - a unique experiment this too- very early in life! Ajuni rusoon aahe- was it really a sort of obituary for Kusumavati?

  • Thanks to Avinash Desai for uploading this. Revived past memories.

  • achrekar master's accompaniment would do enormous justice to a nursery rhyme recitation.

  • wowwa wowwa wowwa !!

  • On the Holi festival day, Kumar Gandharva used to give a free concert in Indore. Since the concert hall was behind my house, I attended all of his cocerts. He was musical God to us youngsters. I also had the pleasure to listen to Ajay Pohonkar as a young artist. Mr. Kirkire, with the tanpura, was a family friend. He & his wife were disciples of KG.

  • @arun81501

You are lucky that you must have heard Kumarji live on many occasions.

    Did you ever hear Bhanumatiji?

  • Govindrao Patwardhan on harmonium, Vasantrao Aacharekar on tabla, Vasunadharabi Komkali on Tanpura

  • And the poem is by the great poet 'Anil'.

  • Vasantrao Acharekar is my maternal Grand father... He breathed his last on Kumarji's Lap.

  • Vasantrao was Kumarji's constant companion, not only his accompanist, but a dear friend. I believe vasantrao's son also accompanied Kumarji later.

  • Yes ... Vasantrao being my grandfather ... And his son , Suresh Acharekar being my mama.

  • How to Give Saath - Sangat to Vocalist. The Acharekar Master is THE BEST Example. He was a Great Tabla player.

  • @Uday2310

Indeed yes. Also note the restrained but sweet harmonium saath by Govindrao Patwardhan

  • @srtambe I am not sure if you all noticed it. The cute little girl is our own Ms Urmila Matondkar! But of course that is only incidental

  • @Genmanclass

Yes of course, but such is the magic of the song that she becomes inconsequential

Again thanks for making all this collection available on net...

  • YOU ARE GOD KUMARAJi, YOU ARE GOD, TAKE A BOW SIR

  • @yogeshwaryogeshwaryo. I agree that KG is musical divinity incarnate, but due precisely to that WE rather than he should bow, don't you think ? What a heavenly experience, indeed, listening to KG any time singing in any raaga ! outstanding upload, Avinash Desai.

  • Kumarji created a benchmark in each type of Music.Nobody can reach upto that level.....

  • aaaaah....what a divine swar.......

  • I have already watched this half a dozentimes and still not satisfied.

Did you notice that he has worked on his Marathi and removed all traces of faulty pronounciations in this version?

  • I have watched this clip at least half a dozen times, and still not satisfied.

Do you notice that he has worked and removed all traces of some wrong Marathi pronounciations in the original record?

    Great work.

  • An unusual achievement by the film producer to get Kumarji to sing for the film, As far as I know he never sang for any other film.

  • this is from marathi film ZAKOL, starring sriram lagoo and sarala yewlekar

  • What a wonderful listening and visual experience!

    Many thanks.

The song is sung in quite different ways at some spots compared to the record.

It is a treat too to watch a young Shriram Lagu. Which film is this?
