I just want to say that your music seems to speak my world. Your songs match up with all the things that are going both wrong and right... Also I just LOVE your style!!
3 people are clearly miley cyrus fan. anyway i love kerli and her music. dark enough to make me adore it and uplifting enough to make me feel fantastic.
I didn't have the world or freedom, either. I lived in America, but my family operated like a cult; very strict & inhumane. We traveled a lot to avoid the authorities. Imagination got me through. I'm glad that people like her can inspire others to also imagine, & think big. She really is giving back to the world. She inspires me to appreciate my twisted self when I look in the mirror & think 'wtf...?'
I love Kerli. I can understand a lot of what she says about having people put down your dreams and tell you what you should do. I wanted to design clothes when I was ten and my dad told me it wasn't possible and that I should go become a nurse or something instead (I happen to hate hospitals, but he can never seem to remember that). Now I've decided to just tune him out and do what I want instead of listening to him tell me what is and isn't possible.
she isnt like other stars other stars will not care much its only bout well whatever they thing a dream is about kerli didnt know that someone she didnt know could remember her songs by heart i remember her songs by heart bc she reached out to me and became an inspiring person and she is the person that makes me wanna try to follow my dream she followed hers and if kerli can follow her dream and where she came from i can do it to i come from small place with a big dream she can do it anyone can
i feel the same , i live in a smaller town , aroung 2000 people , and guys she is not human or a normal person she is a kerli , and being a kerli is like the best thing you can ever be,we need more people like her,i mean she bes who she wants to be , and i want to be like her. she is amazing.
SOME places i America were like that.People in MY sociotey{Sp?} Acualy Do break down dreams, make you lose your faith.I live in America and I still need a place to get away from horrible crap! I als never feel that I ever belong! You and Tokio Hotel were my best insparation ever!
my incredibly stupid small town and my family sounds like estonia. "Can i go to the university of santa cruz" "nooo your going to UVA" "can i be a lawyer" "nooo but you can be a reporter"
cmon what is with this exageration.I live in romania and i was 2 when comunism fell, and i heard stories about how people smoked marijuana and went to parties.of course we did not had the same situation and living conditions, but it was not that hard.she sounds like a prisoner of her own parents. And i live in a small town, and very close to forests.I felt the need to escape from the way small town people think and judge, but not from my country.
@georgemot I didn't take it that she was insulting her own country. I think she was just trying to tell Americans they need to be a little more grateful for what we have and that is true. Some in our country do want to push it to communism. Why would she come here? America is the entertainment mecca of the world. You go where your life's profession leads you. She seems like a sweet person, but the emo trend is dead here and I hope that doesn't hurt her image. She makes great music.
It's a huge exaggeration if not a lie. She must have been 3 or 4 years old when the Soviet Union collapsed.Everything she says about the future being decided and lacking of freedom must be her imagination or recreation of what she's heard from older generationsto support her image of alternative girl. I might not be that amazed now anymore if any American asks if there's internet in Estonia or if we know what a cell phone is. our parents want you to be a shop attendent - get real for God's sake!
@pmimd god you are so right.People like her make estonia and romania seem destroyed by comunists.where did she hear how americans move to hollywood when the 10 year old son or daughter wants to be a star?
I've lived in america all my life, born here, grew up here (spoiled rotten and don't deserve what I have), but my third cousin who i treat like my big brother lived in Romania for about five years when he was little and still has dual citizenship status. He's always told me to be thankful I got to be here when I was 5 year old, because he was there with no electricity or indoor plumbing in his town. I've never been outside the U.S., but I feel like a spoiled b***h when i hear about other places.
@mayudontcry I traveled to Ireland about 10 years ago and I was shocked. Everyone had these little, tiny cell phones and every pub had a flat screen TV. Small cell phones and flat screens weren't even HERE in America yet. However, some of the houses some people lived in were near decrepit. It was the most unreal thing. I think it just varies from household to household honestly & living standards aren't countrywide. My great-grandmother didn't have indoor plumbing either...in America! lol
You estonians must admit that she's exaggerating a lot. I mean, she was very little when Estonia was in Soviet Union. This was then. Now Estonia is one of the most democratic countrys in Europe. I think we were in 9th position from 180 countrys?.. Everything is possible here just like in America .
A single country can be a very diverse place. Perhaps in some of the bigger cities there is more freedom and democracy, but that was probably not possible in Kerli's forest.
I am so glad I came to America and grew up here, had i stayed in Sicily i would never have been encouraged to pursue my dreams, as a woman you are encouraged to get married and have kids by 20ish. So i can understand what she means. I can't imagine growing up in a communist society where your future is written before you are born, so for that i commend her for being able to realize her dreams.
@nadic88 It's not that bad, though, in estonia. To get married and have kids by 20ish ... well, it's definitely not expected. You'd possibly have to explain a lot to frowning people.
But it's not difficult to feel stuck, especially living in a small place... and before internet became that usual...
Her perception of Americans and our freedom is a little bit of. You sure as fuck aren't encouraged to be what you dream about being unless you fit into the mold. It's difficult all over the world to be who you want to be if it's something different.
But the fact that only the strong fucking get to become something remains the same.
it depends where you live here on the west coast where i live they do encourage you to be what you dream. i live in a very librle society. where as in the midwest and east coast they are more conservative (i would know because i lived in michigan fo most of my life)in michigan the only thing they encourage you to do is be good at sports. in seattle (where i live now) they encourage you to be good at whatever you want to be...
Even though people do criticize and judge your every move when you wanna get to the top in America, and there are a lot of families that don't encourage their kids when they wanna be a movie star, or rockstar, etc. America is quite a free country and I'm glad I live here.
lol , your pretty ignorant if you think your country is "quite free" .
and kerli talks this occupation thing for promotion , its intresting for us people ofcourse. But she was 5 years old.. when Estonia was a democratic rebublic.
And nowdays its really really free country.. for sure more freedom here than in the imperialism USA.
Trust me, I understand how people from other countries could love it here. I KNOW we have a lot more freedom than most other countries, but we still have a horrible media. The US is pretty much ruled by media.
Kerli, your an inspiration, a hard worker, a beautiful dreamer, and we love you! You really show that anyone can do anything if they set their minds to it and go for what they want to become. I've Introduced your songs to all my friends and they loved you immediatly and downloaded your songs into their iPods (I bought the CD and put it into my iPod) Keep up the great work and I hope one of your concerts is local to me or around Philly or NYC because I will definatly go :] Love ya Kerli! <3
She is awesome because she realizes that hard work and resilience can create opportunities. She also respects America for its opportunities and she makes her art to make others happy not to make money. I wish other stars could act more like her but that seems unlikely.
I wanna be a fuckin movie star!!!! if i said fucking in front of my mom i would get back handed<3 love you kerli!
