  • Great tips, thanks for posting.:)

  • Thank you so much ☺. I'm practicing canine freestyle with my dog, its been a while that I want to start disc dog! Its help a lot, And sorry for my bad english i'm french .

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT video! It explains everything! I'm trying to disc train my Miniatre Schnauzer. We'll see if your methods work. Thanks!

  • I'm actively seeking to adopt a dog this week. I'm extremely interested in finding a dog that might be compatible with disc training and am wondering what criteria I should go by. I've seen mostly Border Collies, pits, etc. There are Catahoula Leopard Dogs, Border Collies, many Pit Bulls and Terriers that hold resemblance... many are already a 1-old-plus. Have any of you had success beginning training at this age? And... any advice on breed/mix?

  • Get a little older dog. Go check out the ones you are interested in and bring some discs. Throw some rollers and see how they do. Where you located. There are people with disc dog rescues already to go to new homes.

  • Wow. Well, I already adopted a pup. He's a bit of a natural, although I am pretty sure he's not going to grow large enough to have the necessary speed to do much with longer distance disc stuff. I may adopt another pup in a few months, though.

  • Small dogs are sometimes very fast. See what happens. You never know.

    Good luck!

    jg

  • We appreciate the encouragement :) Won't know until he's an older pup :) Thanks.

  • good

  • thanks for sharing the tips...especially on showing how to do a proper throw..

i'm alwiz facing this problem, my dog don't know where the disc is flying to... i tend to blame the frisbee i used... haha..

  • We started our bc puppy on the disc..righ now it is a soft disc..is that a bad idea to start them out with?? and how young is too young? He actually CHOSE the disc..lol He was supposed to be training for agility but he CHOSE the disc himself.

  • soft is fine. Start with rollers. Keep the jumping to a minimum until around 18 months old.

  • Great vid guys, useful tips! Any chance you can show any advanced training?

  • Thnx so much! I just started training my pit bull...and Wallace is our hero!!! So thanks for posting some tips for us.
