  • I actually love this performance to pieces. They're all brilliant ! :D

  • "I've realized that I've forgotten how to play the piano completely.... holy shit." I love this!

    Such an amazing preformance!

  • I want a piece of furniture that looks like a piano.

  • I think I love this version so much because he actually reminds me of Jonathan Larson, and that's the way it should be because this musical was his autobiography in a sense, I mean given Raul Ezparza has a great voice, but he doesn't remind me of Jonathan Larson!

  • nice song(^^)

  • wow... so good!

  • i think this is a really good preformance

  • Yay! This is REALLY good! Well done yous xxx

  • Wow, you can really see the chemistry between the Jonathon and Michael characters. Fantistic, by the way, I'm amazed.

  • Great job!!!

  • thank you jonathan larson. one of the best writers ever.

  • Hey Snartwork, I sent you a message if you care to read it.

  • I adore how this is very in the Jonathon Larson style, meaning you recognize it if you've seen RENT.

The characters sort of connect to the audience while they narrate.

He was completely amazing <33. Imagine what kind of musicals we could have gotten from this guy?

    Wow. Thank you Jonathon Larson.

  • I know....I can't get enough of his stuff, but there's only so much of it. I wish he was still here.

  • omg that piano medley makes me crazy. I love it. It's SOOOO beautiful

  • i just got the album on thurs and love this song

  • Absolutely amazing.

    :D

  • As I approach 29... which leads to 30... this song just makes more and more sense. What a damn good song.

  • wahey! i love RENT, i love Tick Tick... BOOM! LUVVIT!

  • I've been listening to this version of 30/90 for months now and this is the one that taught me how to sing it. I'd always been interested in TTB before, but I'd never heard anything by it and really - no preformance can top this one as far as I'm concerned. Vocals are amazing, and expressive and the actions are perfect! Very good job, guys - perfect!

  • great def video is flawless great show thanks for posting it brother

  • In the words of a fellow audiance member

    thank you Jonathon Larson

  • I've seen about 3 30/90's tonight, because, I suppose, that's just how very much I love it, and after this, I'm going to stop searching. I doubt there'll be a one that tops this.

    I'm very, very impressed.

  • amazing!!

  • amazing

  • just wondering why isnt "johnny can't decide" this is great though

  • what the song or the performance??

  • this song is one of my favorites and you guys are simply amazing! this version is without a doubt the best i've heard, the three of you have some serious talent.

  • much much much better then the broadway cast. you guys are fanastic!

  • I think this is my favorite song in the whole show. :)

  • you guys are amazing! I think they sing better than the original cast. I would say perform better but i never saw the show =[

  • this guy and the other guy are to young. all credit to you... but your both to young. the girl playin susan is amazing. cheers :)

  • Holy cow! Thank you!! That's like being carded at the store. Just let me know where I should send the money. :)

I was 36 when we did this last year.

  • Who did you play? Jon or Michael? And the person who posted this, who did he/she play? I'm just curious. I'm guessing the poster is "Jonathan" am I right? and you're "Michael?"

  • Yes. You have it correct. The guy who played Jon just turned 43.

  • smooth move - and learn how to spell. I love it when people are owned like that! :) goes to show you probably shouldn't talk out of your ass, it's tactless and silly.

  • Love this song!

  • I love this song loools XP...

  • Amazing!!

  • Girls, girls, you're both pretty. Now stop the bitching before Kelly gets on here and chews you both a new one. :)

  • Kelly doesn't scare me in the slightest. Bring it on.

  • And as for you... TAKE THE NOTE. We've all been smacked around a bit on this site (yes, even THE Kelly Carey)but you need to see the good in it. Whether this guy is Brando or a disgruntled wannabe that didn't get cast in the high school play, he saw what he saw and the oppinion is valid. Take it, consider it, and move on. Whether the guy is brilliant or a boob, say "thank you" and move on thoughtfully.

  • thank you scott first of all. Secondly this is the only song that i have this opinion about its the only one i watched for like a week. Steven you did great on every other song. You have a brilliant voice and amazing talent. I just have been in this advanced movement class all semester and i needed to critique someone for the class on youtube and print out the resulting thread. So thank you. And im sorry if in insulted you. Its Christmas and im in a resolute mood.

  • to jump in on the ongoing argument..I'm not a theater student or performer, but an avid theater goer...I have to agree there are a few parts, especially when Johnny's singing with Michael where the movements look unnatural or forced for what's going on, BUT, over all the performance is great, and I've been watching all the songs you have from the play and I have to say they're some of the better ones I've seen.

So perhaps this is a case where both sides can let it rest?

  • I have a quick question to pose to you. Are you personally disposed to this guy is he your friend or something? Are you the guy in the video? Because thats the only reason i could see you defending him. Hes got a great voice its amazing it sounds exactly like Raul Esparza really. This is just the opinion of one guy read the other posts. Im just being a critic.

  • Hola Ness. I need to drop in here. I am personally disposed to the guy in the video because he is my friend. I was in the show (as the big guy with the tie and jeans who can't sing- according to another post) and I need to tell you that the little bastard worked his ass off on character, putting in more hours than I've seen most actors in this community of our do.

  • I'm not saying that he didnt work his ass off. Im not saying hes a bad actor either. He just should have made some better choices thats all i am saying. arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics even if you win youre still retarded. The only thing that i didnt like about your video is that he could have made some better choices as to movement thats it. I guess theres no room for critics on YouTube.

  • There's no arguing here. I appreciate criticism, if you only hear the good you never know what there is to improve on. I am trying to help you better understand where the actors choices came from. Critics are blind and often shoot the wrong guy. The actor's movements were very restricted by the director. "No Theatre for the deaf please."

  • What i am really trying to say is it doesnt look like he did alot of work on the character. It looks like he is just up there singing the songs he learned. Ive been studying theater for 4 years. i really dont need to be told whats good acting and whats bad acting by someone who clearly has never acted or taken an acting class before. THANK YOU COME AGAIN!

  • I've been performing professional theater for six years, my friend. I don't need to be told by a theater student what is what when it comes to performing. The character study is extremely hard in this case as the character is based off of a real person who is no longer alive. AND your opinion is hardly relevant in this situation as you haven't even seen this particular production in its entirety. Know what you're talking about before expressing your thoughts.

  • Me again. If you know about Larsen, then you know about the style of Theatre that he wanted to create. The soul of it comes from the music, the acting is in the music. You see this with RENT as well. To do more than what is real destroys the honesty of the performance. With 4 years under your belt, you should know this.

  • I would really like to see you try to perform something as challenging as Tick Tick Boom sometime.

Thank you for the comment, but please, be civil.

  • i know its hard to perform it but that doesnt mean you cant have some acting i mean real acting he didnt have purpose for what he was doing at all. I didnt know what he was moving for. Totally unmotivated action. One of the first fundamental rules for acting everything must have a reason or purpose.

  • For one thing, if the director tells you to move to a certain place or do something specific, that's not really up for the actor to dispute. Second, why don't you just watch the performance instead of nitpicking it apart? Then perhaps you can try to understand why someone needs to move around to keep something interesting instead of just standing there 'unmotivated' and singing like a concert piece.

  • Im not saying he shouldnt move he should. I just think every thing he does with movement should have purpose. He points to the audience when he says "years are getting shorter". Why does he point to the audience? Its not justified. He should move but he should have justification for said movement.I have more ill paste another comment cause it wont let me do more than 500 characters.

  • Pointing to the audience is an example of all that you think is wrong with the performance? I really don't think you're making a good case for your opinion. Haven't you ever pointed at someone or gestured in someway when telling someone something that is of a great importance to you? Not every movement we make as beings NEEDS to have a thought out justified reason behind it to be believable.

  • But when you try and fill in the spaces with action that doesnt make sense in the context you devoid the entire play and take credibility away from the show. It almost seems forced like i dont know what i am doing here so i am going to move in one way or the other. Yes the audience doesnt notice it or care very much but in my opinion motivation for movement in a scene is the difference between a compelling performance and a mediocre one.

  • I'm sure that you make all sorts of movements all the time without conscientiously having a premeditated reason as to why you're making that movement. Personally, I think you really are reading way too much into it and THAT makes it less enjoyable in your eyes than actually watching the show and taking the meaning and message behind it to heart like every other person is seemingly able to do.

  • look im not saying i dont like the show. I might even like it more than Rent. Jonathan Larson is my hero. He wrote my favorite shows ever. I've seen this show done before. i saw it done wrong two times ive seen it done right once. You dont want me to point out every flaw. But this is musical THEATER emphasis on theater. Now these songs are pleasant to hear by themselves yes but this is Acting + Music. Not just the music.

  • I'm not saying you don't like TTB. I'm saying you really aren't looking at the whole picture here. You're just going on what you've been taught not what you feel yourself. Once you get on the stage, you have to express more than just what you've been directed to do, you have to put your self into it, your emotion and soul, otherwise it ultimately does not work. Try understanding that as a performer, not as a student.

  • i do after a while what you are taught mixes with what you feel and it becomes this sort of gratifying thing where you realize what good acting is. It takes 50% heart and 50% what youve learned in school. I saw more of a 50-10 type of thing going on he had some good choices but overall it wasnt very believeable.

  • @nessman930 haha this agument confuses me.... lol its 2 years old.

  • ok he has a fantastic voice =]

  • Awesome performance, the set is fantastic as well!

  • I love it. I want to be in this musical when I go into musical theatre after college.

  • Gotta luv Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick... Boom, better than Rent, but was too ahead of it's time

  • Is this available on DVD :)? Really great voice!! *fav's all*

  • amazing cast, fabulous set, great orch...except for the drummer, who def needs to learn to follow the tempo the actors give him, and to keep it there. other than that, though, AMAZING. very impressive.

  • I am absolutely in love with this musical.

  • i totally agree with u... i NEED to watch it! my problem's that i live in brazil, veeeeeery far! =/

  • this was an amazing show. it needs more publicity. if only it got as famous as Rent.

  • WOW! That was great! You all did the show justice in my opinion. Also, its absolutely AMAZING how similar your Jonathan and the real Jonathan Larson look alike. VERY good casting for all.

  • By far one of the better versions of 30/90 on youtube.

  • i mean... it's not better than raul esparza or larson himself (both had their versions of "ticktickboom" on youtube someday) but this is AMAAAAAZING!!! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT SINGERS AND THIS IS SUCH A GREAT PLAY!!! amazing... simply outstanding...

  • Agreed. A lot of the 30/90's out there dont do it justice at all. Except yours. All of your videos are great.

  • I <3 my pirate king!

  • This set is awesome. And you guys do great job!

  • stephen, i'm always impressed with you.. and i'm hoping a certain nomination comes your way for this. You are such a great guy! :-)
