I live in Germany and Pits, Staffs and Bulls are forbidden to be bred and in some parts even forbidden to keep. It's sad, because I really love those dogs. I've worked with dogs for 15 years. NO DOG is unpredictable unless it has rabies or some other illness. Dogs ALWAYS show signs before they attack. Its up to the OWNERS to understand this body language of dogs. In 15 years, I've with 100s of pit bulls, 1000s of dogs. Only ONE dog every successfully bit me...a senile poodle. Not ONE pit bull attempted to attack me. Go research Mike Vick's dogs and see where they are all now...with families, doing therapy work...so much for "natural born killers"

@Chronos2112 no dog is predictable and when a child is hurt by ANY dog the first question i have is where were the parents. i have 2 pits and i don't feel the need to justify that to anyone. many "pit bull attacks" turn out to be a different breed of dog all together. i have been charged by one dog and had one recently try to attack me and both were strays. the owners just didn't take responsibility for their dogs

I have had four pit bulls in my life, three were stolen before they turned one. I refused to get another and then my doggie Buddha came into my life. He is the sweetest dog I have ever had. He loves all kids even ones he hasnt met before. It goes to show that if you are a responsible dog owner then your dog will be socially healthy.

i work at vet where i am a kennel tech which means i walk and feed the dogs that are there for bording. i had a boxer and a pug that were more aggressive than 3 of the pits that were there. i can understand why people would be afraid of pits, the news and horror stories they have heard themselves or been through, but there are other incidents where labs or cocker spaniels or mixed breeds have bit people that havent made it on the news. i strongly believe that its all about how you raise them.

Animal abuse is wrong no doubt about it, but whether you like it or not pitbulls have been known for pitbulls not to only kill children but inocent owners. In addition the numbers don't mention the number of injured. Those shown injured by other dogs probably got to close and freindly with a stray or a dog that does not know them.

Okay, so you say those people were probably attcked by strays. This is highly doubtful and many, most strays will exhibit a fear of human contact and will almost always run from people. So, I guess the pomeranian that killed the 6 month old was just wandering the streets? No, it was a pet, as were many of the other dogs that attacked. Pitbulls are not agressive. They are like many terriers and dogs with a deep need to please the alpha dog (you, the owner.) Bad ownership makes them agressive.

People are always the problem, not the breed. There are plenty of dickless wonders who will get a dog to make up for their own inadquacies but it's how you treat the dog that dictates their character. Treat it mean and it'll be mean. As with people.
i ran out of room previously but wanted to say a license or certification for responsible pit owners should be made available. Evaluation could be added to requirements. I wouldnt say a ban either I would say a law to protect them and keep them out of the hands of the idiots that fight and abuse them.
i do animal rescue and its a guess but I would say 1 in 100 pit bulls get a good home. Same for Rotties too. Most people attracted to the breed want it for the wrong reason or shouldnt have a dog at all. The most chained dog I see or abused is a pit. They are wonderful dogs and just as any dog can be made to be aggressive. I agree a breed shouldnt be banned but think of it from the other stand point..it would stop a lot of suffering on the pits part.
Beautiful video, the statistics about 2,000 children being killed by their own parents whereas only 3 are killed by pitbulls annually really shocked me more than anything. It's just ignorant, uninformed, hateful people who put Breed-Specific Legislation in action. I'd like for them to meet a REAL pit bull, a family pet.

Pitbulls are not bad. The other day when i was walking my dog(pitbbull) i heard some footsteps (running) behind me and it was this big furry dog(kinda a chow mix) getting ready to do something to me and my dog.

i have the privelage to own or rather be the friend to some of the most loving and loyal pits and i guarantee me and my attitude are more of a public threat than any fucking dog

i work at vet where i am a kennel tech which means i walk and feed the dogs that are there for bording. i had a boxer and a pug that were more aggressive than 3 of the pits that were there. i can understand why people would be afraid of pits, the news and horror stories they have heard themselves or been through, but there are other incidents where labs or cocker spaniels or mixed breeds have bit people that havent made it on the news. i strongly believe that its all about how you raise them.

and why should pit bulls only be killed they dont deseve it like other dogs should get killed too not just them BUT no one should be killing any dog and also why would people by them ? if they can kill there more of a watch dog of a police dog so its really not the dogs falt....and SAVE THE PIT BULLS!

Animal abuse is wrong no doubt about it, but whether you like it or not pitbulls have been known for pitbulls not to only kill children but inocent owners. In addition the numbers don't mention the number of injured. Those shown injured by other dogs probably got to close and freindly with a stray or a dog that does not know them.
All agressive breeds such as Pitbulls should be banned.

Okay, so you say those people were probably attcked by strays. This is highly doubtful and many, most strays will exhibit a fear of human contact and will almost always run from people. So, I guess the pomeranian that killed the 6 month old was just wandering the streets? No, it was a pet, as were many of the other dogs that attacked. Pitbulls are not agressive. They are like many terriers and dogs with a deep need to please the alpha dog (you, the owner.) Bad ownership makes them agressive.

People are always the problem, not the breed. There are plenty of dickless wonders who will get a dog to make up for their own inadquacies but it's how you treat the dog that dictates their character. Treat it mean and it'll be mean. As with people.

i ran out of room previously but wanted to say a license or certification for responsible pit owners should be made available. Evaluation could be added to requirements. I wouldnt say a ban either I would say a law to protect them and keep them out of the hands of the idiots that fight and abuse them.

i do animal rescue and its a guess but I would say 1 in 100 pit bulls get a good home. Same for Rotties too. Most people attracted to the breed want it for the wrong reason or shouldnt have a dog at all. The most chained dog I see or abused is a pit. They are wonderful dogs and just as any dog can be made to be aggressive. I agree a breed shouldnt be banned but think of it from the other stand point..it would stop a lot of suffering on the pits part.

Beautiful video, the statistics about 2,000 children being killed by their own parents whereas only 3 are killed by pitbulls annually really shocked me more than anything. It's just ignorant, uninformed, hateful people who put Breed-Specific Legislation in action. I'd like for them to meet a REAL pit bull, a family pet.

this video really moved me, recently I became a pit bull owner I was scared when we rescued her from a very abusive home, afarid of what everyone told me about the breed, she is the sweetest dog I have ever owned. This video hit home and more people should view it. The perception is wrong.

that one slide that said guilty till proven innocent, well i think it's just guilty and that's it. if an animal hurts someone they don't ask why did he attack you like if the person provoked him. they just think vicious dog and then he's killed.it's unfair and i think pit bulls and all dogs are nice unless you provoke them or they were taught to hurt someone.the owners are to blame not the dog.

I think it's the media's fault. Sometimes I wonder if perhaps we should bring back the fairness-in-reporting law. I wish there more independant media outlets that could give a voice to the other side to the coin. We need to take back the airwaves because they've been highjacked by greedy big business only interested in ratings and not honesty.

Pitbulls are not bad. The other day when i was walking my dog(pitbbull) i heard some footsteps (running) behind me and it was this big furry dog(kinda a chow mix) getting ready to do something to me and my dog.

Thanks for posting this..Everyone needs to see how loving and caring and sweet dogs are, I'd trust my dog with a child before I even THOUGHT about taking a child to a day care! I dont own a pit bull but I plan to in the future.
