I don't care who does this version. That this song is sung by a white man is incvredible. I'm half drunk, but I don't care. No white man ever sang as good as The Righteous Brothers, and no one will ever do it again
This song was first recorded by Roy Hamilton, then by the Platters. The platters version and the righteous brothers were the same. This lovely song is one of my favorites of all time.
Roy Hamilton and Elvis Presley sound so much a like. They actually recorded a few songs together.
There were over 500 different recordings of Unchained Melody, I remember Harry Secombe (from The Goons) doing it around around 1955 in a Goon-type voice accompanied by a banjo. England's Jimmy Young had a #1 hit with it.
Actually it was written by Alex North and Hy Zaret in 1955. The melody was used as the theme for a movie called Unchained. After that the Righteous Brothers did it first. Elvis didn't even cover it until the seventies. The man could sing, I'll admit, but he couldn't write a song to save his life. He left that part to more talented black people.
Herb Reed is still performing! I uploaded videos of him live on a cruise ship! LoL Herb is AWESOME!!!!

Roy Hamilton did this song in 1954, and that version should have been used in "Ghost"

The original singer for this song was Todd Duncan. He sang it in the film "Unchained" which was released in January 1955.

I remember the original and this was not the male singer singing it, this is too dreadful for words and the Righteous Bros. also did a great version.

Just shit !!!! NO EMOTION....
The only, The Real PLATTERS singer is Tony Williams.
And if you want a real good version of this song, try the Righteous Brothers (1) J.ryan Beretti (2) Elvis Presley (3) and Roy Orbison (4).....
others perfect singers, try off course tony williams and Jacky Wilson.
