@MrMamilitas I have to disagree with that first statement. Diana makes a MUCH better Queen than she does a Pamina. However I completely agree that this is a beautiful aria
she sings a nearly perfect german without a american accent..
there are a lot of brillant and wonderful sopranos who sing Pamina beautifully for me the interpretation of Anna Moffo is one of the best ever in history of recording such beauty in tone and phrase touches my soul ever and ever again..thank heaven for such artists
Absolutely DIVINE! Not often do we hear such well-tempered slow, sweet, soft tones strung out one after another...it's an amazing experience. I would have loved to see this divine creature sing this...The message I receive from these tones is one of such great , unspeakable sadness...I wonder whether tears were streaking down her lovely face...I can imagine it. This is just so very, very sweetly sad...and I love it. Thank you, dear Anna.
Das ist eine Sternstunde. Gänsehaut und Tränen. Es kamen geniale Sängerinnen nach, Moffo lässt sie hier hinter sich, auch die gigantische K.B.
It's an absolutely great moment in music. Goose pimples and tears. There came along other genius singers, she left them behind this time, even K.B. She had to sing about a very hard moment for Pamina and keep beautiful at the same time.
Beautiful voice! I just wished she had sung the piece as written, by obeying the note values and not lingered so long on a couple of the high notes. Never heard any other singer distort the musical line in Ach! ich fuhl's like that....
Why do you say "verschwunden" is wrong? I've seen about at least 5 different scores where it says "verschwunden". Where from do you have the information that "entschwunden" is the correct word?
Didn't know Moffo had sang Pamina in Magic Flute. This is incredible. This is by far the best interpretation of the aria. It's PERFECT. She has the right kind of Mozart voice, technique and style, it's a richly expressive voice, gold-hued in it's lyricism, and the fact that whoever conducted her slowed down the pace for this aria also helped a lot. This should be a slow, sad aria. Pamina is deeply saddened by Tamino ignoring her. She is broken hearted and considering suicide.
Wow this was so beautiful and moving. Anna Moffo had the perfect voice for Pamina but I don't know if she sang the entire role in Zauberflote. Her Mozart repertoire was gorgeous but she branched out and didn't become a strictly Mozart soprano like Lucia Popp or Gundula Janowitz. This was probably the best version I've ever heard - rich, fully lyric and very gorgeous.
@MastersoftheOpera Sirus XM has a Metropolitan opera channel that broadcasts live recordings from throughout the Met's long history. I am currently listening to a recording of Die Zauberflote from 1973 with Moffo as Pamino, so yes, she did sing the entire role - and I agree that she is fabulous (although she was starting her decline by the time of this particulary broadcast).
there she goes again....making me adore her - this time with Mozart! there's such center to the notes...and the timbre - so rich and lusterous! someone said it before...this is the voice of a true beautiful woman!
Kawaii. I do wish you luck :) You are on the right track, if you are listening to artistes like Anna Moffo and beautiful arias like this one. At 15, you have a 50 years or more singing career in front of you. That should keep you "off the streets" for a while. Again - best wishes.
Besides sounding heavenly like Moffo, there is .. Janowitz' colour, Huang's delivery... or Te Kanawa's vibrato (when she wants),etc - some things you can't copy but you can always copy the technique - don't want to confuse you, but learn about combining singing form the mask with breathing - that one for the tricks to not sound like a 'bag-pipe' and not to put weight...
huh - waiting for all the "purist's"comments and my eternal damnation! :)))
Ach, ich fühl's aria from Die Zauberflote.. Diana Damrau's interpretation is far superior.
Nevertheless, the aria is just beautiful.

You are right! I checked it again and found "verschwunden". I confess my mistake!
But somehow "ist entschwunden" appears a thousand times if you check it by google. Perhaps it is a alternative version? Perhaps someone can help!

You're right!!!! I find the same fullness of tone and emotion that Janowitz has.
Moffo is one of my favourite Paminas. The others are Popp, Roschmann and Grummer. Very different styles but I love them all.

Absolutely perfect tone! It's so warm yet full of sadness! My heart is just crying for her! How could you not speak to her Tamino?!

It's still an opera... stay calm.

Exactly! Tender, beautiful, she's beautiful, so something is wrong with Tamino if that doesn't convince him to speak to her.
