  • damn i had no idea there were stars that much bigger than the sun!

  • Chuck Norris can sit on IC 1101 (largest galaxy known)

  • Im..... DEAD

  • Superlative video!!!. favourite and shared. Sergio, The Planetary Society Global Volunteer of Argentina.

  • Isn't black holes 50 billion KM?

  • @doidao130guilherme One of the biggest black hole were 40.000.000 km

  • I'm scared from giant stars bad cropped with paint

  • please be careful when you say "larger" and "diameter". The sun is 1 million times larger than earth in VOLUME (3 dimensions) but only about 100x the DIAMETER (1 dimension). line up 6 ping pong balls next to a basketball, basketball is about 6x the diameter. but you can fit easy over 100 ping pong balls inside a basketball, which is over 200x the volume. so VY canis majoris is only 350,000x diameter of Earth but 15 quadrillion times the *size*

  • vy canis majoris is much larger than 350,000 times of earth,(maybe in mass it is) our sun is around a million times larger than earth, and vy canis majoris almost a billion times bigger than our sun- this is in size,

  • amazing

  • Music is catchy! ^^

  • MWAHAHAHAHA! HOW INSIGNIFICANT WE EARTHLINGS BE!!!

  • Charon is supposed to be 1100km,

    and 200 billion KM????

That would be size of the Sting Ray Nebula

  • @lmc6506 Just shut up.Shut up.

  • @Nugwrangler

    Why don't you?

  • @crispysmith11 hahahahahahahahahaha met you from other vid:D

  • 5/5 Awesome!

  • Betelgeuse looks like Luyten's star!

  • V.Y. Canis majoris is releasing such huge amounts of energy that it may exploade at any moment. due to it's distance, we are out of danger, but there will be a new star in the sky for 10 years.

  • thanks for the tip of the diameter of the Milky Way in km

    I did not know

    good video

  • interesting

  • and I believe that the sun was the greatest thing he had in the universe, but in reality is nothing

  • And to think, Dr Manhattan can go where ever the hell he wants. Lucky!

  • I Rofl'd at Uranus "51118 KM"

  • wow shit! there is tooo many zero...

  • the 7th floor mystery 2009... the scariest on youtube..search it to see...don't forget to read the comments 2 weeks ago

  • so, is 2 and a half BILLION kms the diameter of canis mayoris? is that the correct figure?

  • It's W Cephei not V V.

  • One Piece is 5.3113207 times longer than Fushigi Yuugi!

  • pistol is cold

  • @khunkim no. pistol star is way hotter than the sun.

pistol star is about 10000~20000K. (Kelvin)

  • OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Calm down

  • No!!!!!!!

  • @lanceriver nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • i think not yet V.Y Canis Majoris is the biggest star known yet .. there is biggest more than that star .. its about 200 billion KM ?? i think so..

  • of course there is stars bigger than it.

it is only, so far, the biggest that we know of.

  • 200 BILLION? O.o not sure about that I think the stars gravity would be too strong and rip the star apart if it was that large. But yes there is probably a good few stars out there undiscovered that are larger than V.Y Canis Majoris.

  • @Dalekgodking - Actually, Canis Majoris is a red hypergiant. It is a star in the late stages of its life: Most of its hydrogen has been converted to helium and it is cooling down and losing density.

I am sure there are multiple star systems towards the center of our galaxy that have such high radiuses combined, don't think the gravitational pull will rip them apart tho.

  • @Dalekgodking Yeah, it's only 3 billion km.

  • @rosemaning888 VY Canis Majoris is the largest known star in our viewable space. There has been no record of anything star defeating it's size.

  • @Jon58004 - Was Canis Majoris even discovered? How old are you, 10?

The only large object you knew when you were 4 is your mother's Labias Majoras.

  • @lookaguru what star is labias majoras?

  • @covingtonium its not a star its a womans bottom private body part

  • @lookaguru LOLLLLLLLLL

  • @lookaguru And the onlymlarge thing YOU ever knew when you were 4 is your retardedness! Just kidding! But NO being mean, man!

  • @lookaguru im 11 right now

  • that's pretty cool.. You must be about 7 years old now. VY Canis Majoris was discovered about three years ago. (Just if you haven't learn how to count in school yet, showoff)

  • @Martineibye Sry but I'm almost 8 yrs and I know more than 250 stars.

  • @VincentPrice111 Sry but I'm Nugwrangler,in the wrong account.

  • @Nugwrangler you should shut your mouth. I could do grade 12 math.

  • @VincentPrice111 wuut? my comment was a year old, and yet you take time to reply, just to get a chance to tell everybody how clever you are. and btw; get a life!

  • @Signeamalie By the way, this account was being used by my brother, Nugwrangler.

Good job telling an eight year old to get a life, douchebag.

  • @VincentPrice111 Yeah. you know way more than that Noobwrangler.

  • My ass you did.

  • VV Cephei is yellow crispysmith11 i know more abour space than you ive been studying it since five years old

  • I saw a picture of it in a book that depicted it as blue...but I might be wrong.

  • The Music Name Please ???

  • "We See" by Roman Fischer

  • thats only 1/350,000th in diameter. in volume, Earth is prbly in the trillionths. maybe even quadrillionths. yea, quadrillionths i think.

  • @ImaxDSHIFTJavier Decillionths? (I think)

  • this is wrong... canis majoris isnt 350,000 times bigger then earth.. it is MUCH MUCH BIGGER then that number add some zeros

  • no, YOUR wrong, you're talking about mass/density in which case it is 4 quadrillion (4,000,000,000,000,000) times larger than earth, I'm talking about diameter, in which case you can fit 350,000 earths along vy canis majoris' diamter (or 175,000 for radius)

  • Dalekgodking, I think you're talking about volume and not mass. But otherwise your comment is right.

  • yeah, volume : )

  • Volume, mass, diameter are different things

  • sorry, its 7 quadrillion :P

  • HOW did you get partner?

  • @Dalekgodkingonly 350.000 earths if its 7 quad larger!! Im mean there would be like qudrons of quadrons of earths in there,

  • Juptier, the biggest planet ever. (Sun is NOT a planet)

  • its not even the biggest planet discovered. R'tard

  • Then say it's that green planet that looks like Jupiter.

  • @Anethredon Planus...the biggest planet ever...(size of the sun.)

  • Go to "List of Largest Known Stars" in

    Wikipedia.

    That'll solve the debates.

  • as is most of the NET to be brutally honest!

  • well depends on where you look, tons of places have good facts, but the majority of things on the net is straight up BS

  • In fact I have had to double check what I read on the Net by going to books!

That was how I busted a few sites for inaccurate information!

    peace!

  • haha awesome......WOW dude me and u got into a huge fight a long time ago on here hahahaha thats crazy....i just noticed ur name XD

  • must be thinking of someone else.

I do not fight. I simply state facts! : )

  • hahah well idk lol i mean a debate more or less lol

  • must be thinking of someone else.

  • This becomes increasingly ridiculous to unfathomable!

  • no one knows how small we are cause the human brain is not big enought to imagine such sizes...

  • What the track is playing in this video?

  • It would take over 7,000,000,000,000,000 (7 quadrillion) Earths to fill the volume of VY Canis Majoris.

  • quadrillion dident know that number existed ;)

  • its right after a trillion

  • @patrickakapapoo No it ain;t,zillion is:P

  • @Nugwrangler Oh,now I know what all this means,quadrillion,quintillion,sextillion,septillion,octillion,nontillion,dectillion,etc.

  • @Nugwrangler I know quadrillion, quintillion,sextillion,septillion,octillion,nonillion,decillion,you misspelled nonillion and decillion. I also know undecillion,duodecliiion,tredecillion,quattordecillion,quindecillion,sexdecillion,septendecillion,octodecillion,novemdecillion,vigintillion,unvigintillion,duovigintillion, trevigintillion,quattorvigintillion,quinvigintillion,sexvigintillion,septenvigintillion,octovigintillion,novemvigintillion,trigintillion,untrigintillion,duotrigintillion. 99 zeros

  • thanks retard

  • IS Universe machine or living machine?

  • i wanna die when i see thes video...

  • the pistol star is larger than Betelgeuse and Antares. I think it lies somewhere between KY Cygni and MY Cephei. ...and there's no periods between the letters like VV and MY but thats just nit picking

  • lol I like the look of it being V.Y. to VY ;)

  • Also I think you've been watching incorrect videos that show the pistol star larger than Betelgeuse and Antares, these are incorrect as the proof is shown on wikipedia

  • @Dalekgodking WIKIPEDIAS OUTDATED???NO!!!!!!!

  • @Blackenedin92 You think? It's actually in between KW Sagattarii and V534 Cephei.

  • fuck me... now think how an ant must feel!!! Or even the bacteria on an ant!!

  • we are ants lol :P

  • no! we're Bacteria

  • In a beauty comparison i will say that the earth is the winner but in size...yes...we are a extremely little peace of the universe...

  • and how many galaxies are in the universe?

  • More than 100 Billion.

  • @HefferHefferHeffer All around 200 Billion.

  • trillions of galaxies man

  • wow, people think theres life on other planets but we will never know, we can even send astronauts to mars yet, imagine leaving the galaxy

  • i feel sooooo tiny =/

  • Comment removed

  • Wikipedia stated that VY Canis Majoris counts 7.000.000.000.000.000 times bigger than the earth. =|

  • I am indicating by diameter, not mass or volume in which case you are right, you can fit 7 quadrillion earths inside VY Canis Majoris but you cannot fit 7 quadrillion earths along its diameter ;)

  • Its Over 90000

  • If earth and stood on a height scale Jupiter would be 11 times earths height the sun would be over 100 times earths height Sirius over 200,VY canis majoris between 200,000 and 300,000 earths tall (scientists are uncertain and so am I lol.)

  • amazing trueily amazing

  • this shit is so deppresing

  • ahahahaaha yup, I agree!

  • trust me its a lot less than that

  • So we are less to the Universe than a single electron is to us. Very comforting. Thanks for the vid, it does put things into perspective.

  • hahahahahahahahahhahah, never heard that one before

    hahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahah

  • haha.

  • you wish they were

  • really cool :)

  • no matter how small, we are something. We are part of a bigger picture. The bigger picture needs all of its parts, no matter how small.

  • suon of a bitch i feel neglegable.

  • fuuuuuuck dude...shrooms

  • OMFG the sun . the galexy OOOOOOOOFGUTDMCMRDMMRDSDCJC<JWdvVKKKVdk verwehkvaebkr thbvgbslvslb.skdfhvltgebds, gvhbktejlvrtgenmb rd4mg nb tgr mb trxcmb hrtb mnyfdfkh, gmb rrtkfghmn gfkchbn fhhnm btgghbntf bfgjnmhg fghyyjyj

  • Yes we are ! However, incredibly big compaired to electrons, atoms. Right?

Still, being so small is also making me wonder why such a small living creature as us is able to think and wonder and onder upon the immensity surrounding us?

The mystery is even greater ! Are we just insignificant or are we something very special being what we are and aving a particular role to play in this Gigantic Universe?

  • FUCK

  • @YondaimeIV Stop posting that. Be nice.

  • @Nugwrangler....wow

  • @YondaimeIV Mind blowing!

  • :S that is scary

  • shit me

  • jesus christ that thing is in the milky way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ima hide under my bed till that thing dies!!!!!!!!! aggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............

  • caalm down its not that bad

  • Relativity, it seems to be infinite. We feel microscopic in our galaxy now imagine how one of our cells in our body would feel? who knows what is beyond the visible universe. This place seems so unreal sometimes.

  • I agree, well said.

  • i feel so small :(

  • omg thats kind of scary

  • good video. goes a bit to quic tho. LOL

  • nay

  • Vegeta, what does the telescope say about our galaxy?

  • ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!

  • THERES NO WAY THAT CAN BE RIGHT!!

  • lolz NAPPA!!!!

  • lol nice

  • VY Canis Majoris is 50,244,245,245,173,865 Miles around in KM

  • It's only about 5.2 billion kilometers in circumference. And if yor right the star is about 10 lightyears across, now who's making more sense here?

  • 50,244,245,245,173,865 Miles around in KM ... miles around in km ?

  • University of Minnesota professor Roberta M. Humphreys[1] estimates the radius of VY CMa at 1800 to 2100 solar radii.[2] To illustrate, if our Sun were replaced with VY Canis Majoris, its surface might extend to the orbit of Saturn. Assuming the upper size limit of 2100 solar radii, light would take more than 8 hours to travel around the star's circumference, as opposed to 14.5 seconds for the sun. It would take over 7,000,000,000,000,000 (7 Quadrillion) earths to fill Canis Majoris.

    Bitch.

  • wat if there was a planet the size of canis majoris.. lets see if i weigh 140 on earth. my weight would be 32904912379835 lbs.

  • cool, lol I wonder what the fatties would weigh XD O_O but unfortunately a planet that size could never exist; it would fall under its own gravity

  • I think what pikachu48 meant that there is 7 Quadrillion earths in Canis Majoris.

In full length, 7 Quadrillion is...

    7,000,000,000,000,000

  • aaaah I see

  • well the sphere volume is

V=(4/3)*pi*(R^3). so if you actually calculate you will find it's a little more the 7 quadrillion... ( some billions more, but anyway at this scale i think it don't realy matter, we can't understand such big numbers)...

  • VY canis majoris is 7 Quadrillion times bigger than earth. close!

  • did you mean that or were you just joking?

  • I meant that 0_0

  • well actually it isn't, considering V.Y. Canis Majoris isn't even 7 Quadrillion kilometres in diameter, how could it be that amount larger than Earth? 4 Biollion / 13000=307,692 no where near your guess :)

  • @Dalekgodking 2100 SOLAR RADII.You could fit 125 trillion Earths.

  • Great video! *faints*

  • At 0:16 Earth looks big, until Neptune rolls in and thereafter ..
