When you play a Blu Ray movie, the drive will work harder because Blu Ray has sharper image than DVD. There is lag time but you don't notice it. The more RAM you have the smoother your movies will play.
Well when I got mine I got 1 Verbatim 6x Hard Coat with it. I put it to work right away. Got up to 7x burn on a Imation 4x Disk. So far working Great.
Wow, I have never seen one come in a box before. All the ones I have installed have come in a plastic bag with all the same hardware minus the box and the foam packing material.
@skakky - I'd imagine so but you can't quote me on that. I don't have a Mac............yet. 2012 =] I've seen several posts and forum topics on Blu Ray over at the MacRumors website [Digital Video forums] about using them like they would any other drive.
unless you really need a mac id pass on them ive had both desktops and laptops i personally dont recomend but i bought them from future shop so that could have been the problem but ill never go mac again only like garage band and found out i had to buy a hole track pack for 400$ just to get a decent amout of loops since i already spent 1300 on the 13 inch laptop the ram was pathetic the capacity was poor and the cpu trash speakers blew in 3 day could not get money back store credit
@videogamerskater91 - Not really. Standard DVDs don't have the same bit rates and aspect ratios of the content used in Blu-Ray. Standard DVD is 720x480 while Blu-Ray is 1920x1080. You would need to upconvert the standard DVD content and the end result wouldn't be all that great.
Dont you have a homobuddy to play with waffleboy .... oh no I forgot - its your dad who wants a happy ending:
Dont keep him waiting or you risk that he will take your computer away... and then you cant play those computergames where you get all your "knowledge"

anyone pls tell me how my XP desktop can not recognize BLU ray format but can recognize DVD of "the same" drive (LG SuperMulti) . I put a dvd movie, it recognizes, but I put blu ray movie, it doesn't even read or appear any data.
What Up Bro, tell me how long does it take to write to a full 25GB disc in your estimation? That's good that you got the 8x model, I was holding out because the write speeds before was kind of slow.
They are pricey at the moment. I've been using the ReWritables mostly. I've been hearing a lot about the Holographic storage media they're developing.
No, not this time. I'll be posting a video May 10th by request on how to use the NTG-2 on a camcorder without a built in line mic port. I'll be putting some sample audio recorded with that shotgun mic. In this video I used the built in mic of my camcorder.
I'll actually be able to write it off once business license is approved. I could have used another set of hands 2 weekends ago so I'll keep you in mind.
True, the discs are expensive now, but they are similarly priced as the DVD discs were when they were new. So you're right...in time they will be better. However, man that's a lot of storage space on one double layer!
Did you happen to notice if this drive was sold as an external? I can look it up, but I thought I'd ask you.
Good to see you friend. It HAS been a long time, but at least you're keeping busy and making some money doing something you love. Keep it up! :)
Best Buy didn't have an external version of this drive. LG does make an external that burns at 6x - model: BE06LU11 but it also supports reading of both Blu-ray and HD DVD but at a higher price tag.
Thanks. I'm working on a new format that I'll be rolling out 2nd week of June [new intro, format - etc.]. So the videos that I can get out this month will just be straight cuts. That Logitech does have white backlighting.

How can I crack the country code lock?

Good video but you should invest in an Opteka fisheye lens when you are filming close up to an object. Just a little friendly suggestion.
