  • It's impressive that he actually KNOWS his name and will answer the direct question. This isn't simply mimicking what he hears. Smart parrot!

  • Congo African Greys in NZ cost $5,500.00 each. They are well worth it though, my baby grey is the best thing that ever happened to me, hes so entertaining and gorgeous.

  • Do the males have a brighter color to them.

  • Adopt a parrot (but be warned, if you want to teach a parrot to speak get one that is very young or hand raised by yourself)

  • awesome whistling

  • Here's the thing. If you want a really intelligent bird that understands and can speak 'intelligibly' without saying just random stuff.

You need to hand-raise them from hatching and spend alot of time actually teaching them.

Those real intelligent ones you see in documentaries actually have teaching curriculums they follow.

DON'T buy them in pet stores unless they are relatively young. The stores ruins their learning with useless sounds, whistles and noises. They learn that.

  • keep this in mind, taking them from a store, is usually taking them from their family, Most parrots only bond to one person/animal

  • @TheGmodModder Not at all, they are flock animals. They will interact with anyone who puts in enough time and effort to earn their trust.

  • @TheGmodModder

While it is true they will prefer one person over another they will adapt and bond to anyone that put in the love and care. I have taken in two African Greys from homes that could no longer take care of them. I had no trouble with either of them within a weeks time they we interacting with me stepping up, talking ,everything.

  • wow thy cost a lot

  • we feed him 2 times a day, and snacks like fruit and stuff hoves everything really, begs worse than a dog sometimes LOL

  • haha we have a green amazona and i know wath u mean with begging more then a dog, if he doesnt get something when we eat he starts ringing his bell and making strange noises, quite funny xd

  • how much does one cost at a young age preferably a baby?

  • i got mine for $800

  • Lots of foster places and shelters have birds that need good homes and they only charge a minimal adoption fee.

  • There are very few rescues in my area that will adopt to people if you don't meet an EXACT condition. Kind of a pain.

  • he's so smart, answering your question about his name. I cant wait until I get an African grey.

  • Is that HIS cage? Very small. Beautiful brd, though :)

  • Sure its his cage, small? That thing is huge ! It's a 2 story condo - he is sitting on the top of it so that's all you can see. Thanks for your concern but believe me it takes 2 people to even move that "cage". We were filming the parrot not that cage, check back later for some full size cage views =)

  • Oh! Sorry :D From the video, all I can see is the top, looks like a small cockatiel cage, sounds like it's not!! Sorry once again. He's a real cutie.

  • nice 1, he is smarter than my little brother - and he is 19
