I love the Italian people and there culture. Christopher Columbus was, of course Italian. His missions to the New World were financed by Quen Isabella of Spain. Nevertheless, Columbus acually discovered America and made way for the founding of North and South America by the Europeans.

Their contributions to the arts and sciences are impressive - especially for such a small country.

The one who discovered that America was a continent was Amerigo Vespucci, and also it's true that Antonio Meucci invented the telephone. Problem is that anglos stole most of their history. And when Columbus sailed to the New World, he first set foot on Hispaniola, the island known today as Dominican Republic. Which is the first European settlement
