I really glad zydrunas won this year, 2 things though. 1 i thought i be hilarious and a bit gut wrenching if he got 2nd again exspecially if if messed up on the atlas stones and marius came back to beat him. 2nd would make the iceland strongman events go away. Hes been doing that instead of wsm which i dont like. I mean these guys all do world events but having to choose between the 2 is weak. Big ups for zavickus and marius dont come back next year and dominate, just make it entertaining.

Powerlifting is not all about strength either.

You can be as big as Hulk Hogan or Gregg "The Man Whose Arms Exploded" Valentino and still not lift the weights Powerlifters can do.

Powerlifting involves not just strength, its also about technique and physics as well.

Even though a typical Powerlifter is not as bulky or muscular as a Bodybuilder, they are actually stronger due to higher density muscle fibres.

2 things the different types of lifter is dtermined by there workout regiment. For instance marius and jarek workout like body builders and alot of the heavier guys workout like powerlifters. Also just so you know hulk hogan in the 80's could lift around the same weight as these guys. Just so you know, size means more then technique and physics. Dominc filou,mark felix and other dont have good form, they just lift.

1st Greg Valentino used synthol not steroids. 2nd powerlifters have more muscle mass and larger muscles than body builders. Powerlifting is all about being explosive and knowing how to expand your body to do the moves correctly and breathing correctly.

The car deadlift was ridiculous. I dont recall them ever going that many reps and for so long.

Both guys were very impressive.

FYI for all the kiddies, squat/deadlift require huge energy. Go squat 400 in a gym a couple times, and you're likely to be seeing stars and so exhausted you lie down for 5min. These guys are dead lifting about double that.

With all that heavy muscle work, with thermal camera you'd see huge heat coming off them.

Oh and pudzian isn't kneeling to pray -he's exhausted!

The Arnold Classic winner gets $150K. WSM winner gets only $75K. Savickas is undefeated in Arnold Classic, winning 6 in a row; beating Svend Karlsen twice; beating Pudzian who took 3rd in 06. Savickas is also taller than P, thus Savickas is moving the wt a longer distance (requiring more strength). Note, Franco Columbo deadlifted 750 but weighed only 185 (he only had to move the wt a tiny dist bc he was just 5'5'' tall). Savickas is the strongest ever. Pudzia followers are in denial.

You can't win based on just the speed and stamina events alone, which is probably why he took 2nd because he was outclassed in brute strength by some of the much bigger guys like big z, brian shaw and from what I heard, terry hollands was in great form this year.

That's because he outweighs mariusz by 75 lbs, so of course his brute strength is far greater than mariusz's. I'm not saying mariusz is infallible, but I am saying that mariusz is the best all around strongman, in terms of speed, stamina AND as much strength as a 310 lbs man with as little body fat as he has can be.

Don't get me wrong, I really like that savickas won it and he's one of my favorites too, but you can't deny that mariusz is the better all around strongman.

Well, first of all, do you lift weights?

Second of all, I'm not strange. It's a known fact that strongmen at the super heavyweight level gain more leverage from more mass, whether it be muscle or fat. Therefore, having more leverage, and more sugar energy storage, they can produce greater levels of brute strength depending on their mass. This is why zydrunas will always outlift mariusz in big weight, single lift events, leaving mariusz only to win stamina and speed events.

Strongmen with greater mass are able to produce more leverage in a given lift which will make it easier to lift heavier weights.

They are also able to store more energy (more places to put it) and by that same virtue are able to release more of it at one time (during a lift) therefore producing a greater energy supply to feed a driving force that will produce a successful lift.

My evidence? Super heavyweight powerlifters (300+ lbs) lift the heaviest weights out of all the weight classes.

Mariusz is probably the fastest, most nimble strongman with the most stamina for running around with big weights and grinding out the most reps.

Zydrunas is a fuckin monster whose top lifts have yet to be measured and what other guys struggle to do he makes look like a warmup set. They're polar opposites, I'd say, where in terms of pure strength Big Z is definately on top.

However, if you put the 2 together, you have an unstoppable colossal force that could shake the very earth
