That... I'm not quite sure. I think you can toggle it on and off for each respective level. (Ex: MK 3 Subway on MK 9 Subway)

@dman3431 In the new MK game, go to a versus match-up, go to the stage select screen and hit start on the subway. The announcer will laugh, and when the match starts up it'll have the classic theme. It isn't this though, it's the faster MK3 version.

Man I remember back in the day when I used to play this in like the 3rd grade. My grandmother HATED this game because she's a Jehova's Witness and I used to always pwn or get pwned LOL. Then that one guy who sorta looked like Stryker would come out of the side of the screen virtually from out of nowhere and be all like "WHOOPSIE!!!!" LMAO that used to piss me off!

I liked this version a lot better than the Armageddon version. They should've put this version in Armageddon as well as other retro tunes from old MK games, like they did for old stages in Deception.

@valoguy I kind of agree, in that what I liked about the originals was how the graphics seemed to be actual photos, making it scarily real - especially considering it was all that time ago. I thought MK lost part of it's identity when they changed to "computer graphics".

All do respect, to MK Trilogy, which was phenomenal. Call me old fashioned but I liked the 2-D fighters; Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Primal Rage, etc.

MK4 was a good effort that was the right idea but the game was pretty average in manyways. The good thing about the game is it maintained the Classic speed and Arcade feel from the first 3 games

What did you think of the fighting styles on DA onwards?

I hated it I think they should only have 1 fighting style per character and give them more technical moves to pull off. I think Shang Tsung should totally bust up Quan Chi. Its funny how they made QC more powerful than ST? BOO. Who's your fave character? I'm liking Noob a bit more now I still love Scorpion. My fave fatality is still Sub Zero's head rip..

@Renegade466isback I concur also, I think the bone-breaker moves from MK4 (Gold also), was a concept carried over into MK9 with the X-Ray moves, in MK4 and Gold, characters would grab and execute a move, no see-through display wereas now, the actual crackling of bone marrow is literally seen internally. MK4/Gold, for example, the ever-so-popularized scorpion would lift his opponent's arm up and punch him or her directly in the armpit.

I admit, she has a unique style though, I like her slightly far as her playing style. One of her moves was a corkscrew drill attack I think, were she twisted into a spear like shape and rammed into with both legs, I forget, sorry if that sounds too off. I see what your saying though, some weren't fatal but surely painful.
