  • Qué grandes.

  • God I love this song. Replying it all day long

    Thanks for the upload

Does anyone know the meaning of the cross bit?

  • It's crazy how the left and right signals are crossed and how rufus has the high harmony. I had their voices mixed up for a while.

  • @dylanparker72 .......just what I did!

  • neil young but...

  • @zedicus11 Just what I was thinking,

Could be an out-take from Harvest or Comes A Time.

    But which one is Neil.........

  • Beautiful....

  • She sounds so much like her mom. I hope she carries on the work of preserving and creating folk music.

  • Finally, Youtube knows what I want to watch : )

  • I believe that Kate McGarrigle wrote it and Loudon recorded it on his album Attempted Mustache.

  • @mandamanda Correct.

  • Doesn't 'All my life I wanted to roam' remind you of 'All my little life I've wanted to roam, even if it was just inside my own home' from the song Rules and Regulations?

  • beautiful

  • Rufus speaks to my soul. The combination of his sisters voice and in the sun light...just makes my soul melt.

  • His boots make me giggle.

  • @handsdown101 They make me gag

  • I can't possibly fathom what it must be like to carry such a legacy. I love how their voices and singing styles are absolutely different, but they sit down and just pop out a harmony like it's nobody's business. Pure beauty.

  • are they brother and sister? I'm not familiar with them---liked the song they did though

  • @micmoable yes they are, the song they're singing was written by their mother, Kate Mcgarrigle, a brilliant musician herself.

  • I seriously love these two. I wish I had a brother and sister like them!

  • I think its great that they do one of their dad's tunes....

  • te gek

  • I adore them.

  • Beautiful tune.

  • ...and that means.....what?

  • @denniskeogh That means don't read comments if it makes no sense to you , Fruit cake !

  • @denniskeogh means he is dumb :)

  • @butterbluemchen1961 ...... kind of rhetorical question, but glad we agree!

  • Her voice is so like her mom's and aunt's-national treasures of Canada.

  • The thing I love about this family is the way they've brought the tradition of family and parlor music back to us. So important. Everyone can do it. We did it in my family. That everyday music gets you through the day. My grandmother sang like Linda Ronstadt -- beautiful voice. I still remember her doing dishes, housework singing these gorgeous songs, teaching me how to harmonize, etc. That tradition is so important.

  • @onetrashdancer

    shushhhhhh

  • @HelenaKoonings HA HA HA I couldn't help myself , but he happens to sound pretty good here , but don't tell anyone I said it !

  • I heard him talk for the first time today in an interview....

Didn't know he was gay. But then he opened his mouth.

    Oh.

    My.

    God.

    O_O"

Still love his music though! <3

  • @suzanne334 Finally your making sense ,my dear suizzee q

  • Damn, I really do feel sorry for you especially given the fact I've lost count of the number of negative comments on the Rufus Wainwright videos. Perhaps someday you'll find something better do...

  • @infinitiveone That comment is two months old HA HA but I do feel the same , I doubt old rufus will lose sleep over it ,just maybe a few sheep .

  • @infinitiveone How far do we go back , me and you ? what vids you mean friend

  • This was from glastonbury not Cambridge

  • The wellies were a giveaway .... oh well, the old grey matter's not what it ....

  • OH - so sweet. Just a delightful family...all of them in their own way are bright lights.

  • It's just ridiculous how talented this family is!

  • @roomto I was just thinking the same thing to myself ....I was listening to a Rufus song ....then I am seeing Martha Wainwright in the suggestions ....then Loudon and Martha and I am thinking - no way they can't be ....well it seems they are one hell of a talented family

  • @Jeipeaem in that case you really need to check out their mother too, Kate McGarrigle, talent on every side

  • I love Martha sings the deeper harmony, and rufus the higher :)

  • Their mom actually, it was written by the McGarrigle Sisters, it was on the album Dancer With Bruised Knee. Loudon just preformed it on the album Attempted Mustache.

  • great song written by their dad

  • Well I couldn't find Kate and Anna's version anywhere but this is a wonderful substitute. Thanks for sharing.

  • I'd love to hear them sing the full version. I googled the lyrics and found there are a few more verses.

  • I found it ! I'll try to post it in the next few days.

  • Please let me know when it's up there - thanks.

  • It's posted now.

  • ..... his day job being...?

  • Thank you so much for posting this... it is truly beautiful... a gem!

  • Nice boots Rufus! 0:27

  • amazing

  • Yeayy this is great :D

  • This is fantastic! I just love them together! And their voices work great together. Thanks for posting it!

  • thanks for posting this video! im a huge fan of martha! xxxxxx

  • A nice version informal version though. The song was originally recorded by Loudon in 1973 on his Attempted Mustache album. The song was written by his then wife Kate McGarrigle, Rufus and Martha's mother.

  • I love these two;saw both of them on respective concerts (Martha had Pete Townsend

as guest!! and Rufus had his mum at the piano(opening for Sting way back)

i would love to see Martha doing a duet with a UK guy called Jack Savoretti;it would be a perfect musical treat too..

  • thank you!! where us this from?

  • You are most welcome. I have now updated the notes, so thanks for jogging my memory.

  • This was from a Glastonbury Festival broadcast on the BBC a few years ago. Both Rufus and Martha were singing as seperate acts but the Beeb got them to do a special duet. The song is of course written by Dad (Loudon Wainwright).

  • Loved this! Thanks so much for posting :)
