amazes me... when the president gets locked outside of the whitehouse for three minutes, y'hear about it for a week. When a chemical plant kills thousands in India, I only hear about it like 40 years later by mere chance... hm.
Dear Friends: Multiple plaintiffs have filed a federal civil rights complaint to block resumption of MIC production at the Bayer Cropscience plant in Institute, WV. The M.I.C. Legal Fund, needs money for litigation costs! Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. We set up a PayPal account for this endeavor. Any amount is appreciated!!
The UK government should insist BP hold back all compensation for the oil spill until the Dow Chemical and the USA settles this.
The amounts BP have already pledged dwarf anything paid out to Bhopal victims. Bear in mind only 11 people were killed in the Deepwater Horizon disaster, compared to 20,000 deaths caused by Dow Chemical, with maybe 100,000 suffering permanent injury.
The present spokesperson of congress abhishek manu singhvi helped union carbide in legal matters. The year 1984 is black year in the history of country as the army attacked on and inside a religious place for first and last time and destroyed it and then this tragedy. I don’t have to tell again who is responsible. People use your brains.
26 years.......so long. Justice delayed is justice denied. Who is more responsible for this horrible tragedy: union carbide, Anderson or the governments of that time? Government of Madhya Pardesh and CM Arjun Singh (Kutta- Gandhiyan da chamcha) helped Anderson flee the country and also tempered the evidences.
@gruntlover2. Wrong, that was not a funny joke. I don't even think it counts as a joke. Here is a joke that I find funny. USA citizens think they live in a democracy.
@gruntlover2. The USA couldn't beat half of Korea, couldn't beat Vietnam and couldn't even beat Cuba!!! It hasn't won a war without a host of allies supporting it. The USA's military is a worldwide joke.
@MrSelidor7 Not really. But unlike every other military power throughout history, our is expected to act morally. Not that it does by any means, but we could beat all of those countries without shedding any American blood at all... Nuke them. Every other military imperial power at the hight of its dominance didn't have to deal with things like modern weaponry, photography, or well... liberal guilt. (I say that as a liberal). continued...
@MrSelidor7 You also took each loss out of context. Name one gorilla war where the non-gorilla entity won. We didn't really fight Cuba as much as not support those Cuban dissidence who were going to fight for us (who we promised to assist and didn't) because we knew if we did the Cold War would have become very hot very quickly.
@hop208. Sorry, I don't mean to be cheeky here but it is funny. It is guerilla war. Gorillas are big apes. Had a picture of Planet of the Apes for a moment there. Examples are: The Roman campaigns into Gaul, Briton, Germania and Spain and the Britain in India, the Far East (Burma and so on) and all over Africa. As for nukes, that is the beginning of the end. If the USA starts nuking again, even more 'dangerous' countries will start building them in secret. Nukes = Game Over in the long run.
@MrSelidor7 Oops! Well I wrote it late at night so I was bound to make mistakes. I should have been more specific and said guerilla war with modern weaponry.
@nagraj123 Why would we go to war with India? Most American's want a good relationship with India and would rather have strong diplomatic ties with India. Most Americans don't even know about Bhopal and if they did they would probably be in favor of extradition of those involved. As for Cuba. We could defeat them rather easily if we wanted to, but the human cost would be rather high in Cuba and our reputation can't suffer much further.
If you can't imagine a Bhopal incident happening in the US think again, it almost did. A fatal explosion occurred on Aug. 28, 2008 in Institute, WV. at the Bayer CropScience Chemical plant. This deadly explosion could have easily eclipsed Bhopal India. Bayer CropScience is the only chemical plant in the World that makes and stores enough MIC daily that can cause this kind of mass holocaust.
i agree with you on many levels, hondacrff, but you think the U.S. is "the only country to have ever used chemicals on an enemy in war"?! do the Germans in WWII come to mind here? chemical warfare in large part was started then and used against U.S. troops!
Do they ever like what you write in those exams ? I mean, you cannot really "learn"corporate social responsibility and you have to be genius to impress lecturers with you argument... Overall, the Bhopal case is not really a case, but an endless debate over a deep deep scar on Planet Earth
if one person commits mass murder, they are locked up forever or killed. but if a corperation does it, or an army does it, nothing ever happens to them. apparently, if you commit mass murder in sufficient numbers and with enough money, you can do anything to anyone.
Wow this is the most horrible story i've heard in my life. Crazy how cruel some folks can be.

Who is responsible for Bhopal genocide? This is not a tragedy: this is a genocide.
How many millions Indian politicians and justice system collected to cover up this big genocide? Humanity will never forgive you.

Join this group on Facebook and DEMAND the extradition of Union Carbide CEO Warren Anderson to India to stand trial.
"If you see Warren Anderson in the street, punch him in the face. Twice."
