was wondering, if you posted this 3 years ago, how it held up 8 years? 3 years ago it wasnt completed yet, did it take that long to finish? or did not post until 5 years after u started? also wondering about no scratch coat, never seen it done like that, in your opinion why would it cause problems?
Looks nice. Has it held up? I'm wondering if maybe you should have put a scratch-coat on that wire lath before setting the stones. No matter. If it works, it works. Merry Christmas.
@dorseymarshall 8 years now. I believe the mud on the stone adheres directly to the mesh, so the scratch coat can actually cause more problems. That's what I think, anyway. Thanks for posting:)
@thechimneywright Well, I went ahead and did this to my fireplace (although I didn't have the guts to videotape it, LOL). I found a gorgeous stone that's quarried in northern Pennsylvania, and I'm very pleased with the result. Thank you for being my inspiration. Cheers!
I think for the first time, your stone work looks great. I sent you a video of my first time. I like the lick and stick. But I am a tile man by trade. It's all masonry. I liked the zydeco music as well. See ya kingfish1
@eurekaman3000 Hey eurekaman,. here's a eureka moment...it's THE beer, stupid, LOL! Don't give up, though, I'm sure the 8th grade has many wonderous things in store for you:)
