These sound substitutions don't magically convert into the right sounds by "thinking" of the other letter. For instance the "tip" of the tongue used for "T" is not the key to developing a "D" substitute. You need to PRESS the tongue against that point behind your upper teeth, building up a bit of air pressure and a bit of a "pop". That's why "P" and "B" are called PLOSIVES. Incorrect practice will only bring disappointing (painful) results.

I find it sounds better if you try to make both the "T" and "K" sound at the same time, so your tongue touches the roof of your mouth in 2 places.
