Believe it or not I have a version that was recorded in 86 just axl and piano the lyrics were alot different. It has them playing patience axl saying 2nd time playing as a band and the first time live, it has them interacting with the fans asking for cigs/beer got it from a guy that recorded it live out in CA back early 86 before they were signed. He along with his unit had taken a tape recorder into the club and racorded them Totally cool I wish I had a way to upload it from cassette

I thought axl wrote the piano first in the 80's allready but he wasn't happy about the song, he wanted it to be " more" and in the early 90's he wrote the whole song. First Slash didn't want to bring it because it was not their "style". He was surprised when it became one of the best songs ever made in worlds history!!!! Love this song!!!!

For everyone's info this is the original demo of this song! it isn't stupid ! This should be amzing to everyone, this was recorded when the song was first written, Slash's solos and the piano parts haven't even been written yet. If you compare this to the final release, notice the emotional difference in Axl's voice. Here it is much closer to when the story happened, it's more emotional.
