her being more of a dancer than a singer always made me think of Jasmine Guy. Young Tyler would have played a good Dorothy Dandridge that is if she could act. We'll never know.
Are you kidding me you really think she was forced down our throats dude wake up! The "artists" of today are more forced on us than anything gaga, beyonce,j hoe. Manufactured crap! That's why I left this genre of music a long time ago. Thank God we can go back and remember when music was about the music.
This song came from the "Girl's Nite Out" CD. Personally, I didn't just feel the CD was too bad. The songs were so avarage but enjoyable. The song that should have come after the title track is "Beyond A Shadow Of A Doubt". She performed it on Soul Train. In the same episode, En Voge did "A Part Of Me" which I felt should have been a single from them. But Tyler looked so good... WHEW!!!!
best looking pop chick in the 1990s ... and quite likely beyond that. this is one of the weaker songs, by the way, and not a good pick to be honest. but eye candy nonetheless. her second full-length release has a number of good soul-pop tunes (better than vanessa williams in any case).
although I abhor slavery you mean to tell me house masters had nothing hot black lightskinned chicks like this all in the house? And that's a bad thing?
ah yes bland watered down white bread adult pop/R&B with adult contemporary sensibilities from the early 90's.pretty much the R&B equivalent to early 90's pop-rap.*ugh* one of the few things i hated about the 90's was how everything in the mainstream was PSEUDO-URBAN.
@unbreakablekat Yeah if she would have came out around this era she probably would be a big star, she was competing with the likes of Whitney and Mariah back then you had to know how to sing.
I don't know why ya'll hating on her voice. She can sing to me. I was 13 when this came out in 1990, and I had the tape of her first album when it first came out. Stop hating on her!!!
I'm not hating on her, but speaking with honesty. As I look back I realise that there were a number performers including this woman that really weren't that talented at least not strikingly. I believe that the reason why she got her big break because of her image and then her songs had a theme and a hook. I own both this one and "Whatcha Gonna Do" because they are simply brilliant songs, but it just doesn't make her a "brilliant" singer.
LOL! Damn preo2, are you really a music lover or an angry ass loser? Does Tyler remind you of one of the many that has rejected your ugly ass? She sounds great live and she is still making money singing and writing, while you are spending time posting numerous comment. ...and while you're youtube surfing, check out "Thank to you (Actual Video)"
I used to have the cassette single for this song. I cannot find the single/video mix to this song anywhere. Yes this mix sounds heckabetter than the LP mix.
You find a woman that fine - who cares if she can sing. If I had 1 like that she would never have to speak & I would work 84 hours a week to keep her happy. lol
I don't wanna sound like a pig, but this is the best looking woman singer I've ever seen. Incredibly pretty face and an amazing body. She dances ok. Her singing's not so great, but who cares?
Real music fans care that's why she turned out to be a bust. Nothing but another pretty bitch with a lousy voice just like Appollonia and Vanity. Give me some REAL talent any day over chicks like this that can't carry a fuckin tune. That's why women like Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight still sell out shows 30 years later and chicks like this end up at Wal-mart.
You obviously never heard her second album,"Tyler", which was critically acclaimed. It was very different from the album this song was on. Try to find the single "It Doesn't Matter".
Well where is she now if her 2nd album was so good? Anybody with a half a ear can hear that this woman can't sing a lick, and she isn't going to suddenly become Whitney Houston just by making a 2nd album. Like i said, another pretty face with a voice that sounds like someone is strangling her.
Fantastic song and video! Love her dance moves!

she was easy on the eyes, but she fell into the pretty face girl with limited vocal talent.

A second rate Vanessa Williams/Karyn White, but she was definitely easy on the eyes. Nice to see this vid again.

elombana007 3 years ago
No, but i wasn't trying to be a singer either.
And apparently neither was she, lol!
I'd rather bag groceries rather than make an ass of myself thinking i'm a "singer" like she did. I bet SHE'S bagging groceries now! LOL!!

She sounds better than Paula Abdul and she crossed over.
At least Tyler can sing on key.
