This doesn't really do the size of the universe justice, too many figures with lots of 0's to really have an impact. The universe is so much bigger than this video illustrates, admittedly it' not easy when the scale involved is so massive but there are a number of other videos that do it better.
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.” – Lucius Annaeus Seneca (the younger), Roman stoic writer, philosopher, and politician
There are times when something is so glaringly obvious, we can be blinded by it's sheer indisputable ubiquitous presence. We need light to see, but if we stare at it directly, not only we will loose our sight, but also oblivious to light itself. Sometimes we must have the courage to change our position and stand in a point to appreciate an explanation.
Have you asked yourself, what is ur concept of God? what God is and isn't? What is it that your denying n rejecting outright?

I have a question for anyone out there.... How could there be any end to space? I'm only 15 so I'm asking seriously.... It seems as if it just keeps going and going and going.... If there is an end? Whhat would it look like? Just a sign that says "go no Further?" It's interesting to think.
@washington95 space itself expands so there is no border. The question, "how far does infinite extend?" is irrelevant because you can go as far as you want to. The end doesn't look like anything because there is no end. Also there is no evidence to suggest that there is another universe in our dimension, so if you were to travel far beyond the outer reaches of our universe you would most likely just be very very alone.
@washington95 They say that beyond the expanding unverse , where it stops , there are even larger structures .If one can comprehend that that would be glorious!
anyone who thinks everything was created by some random explosing 13.7 billion years ago just for no damn reason, is a idiot. scientist will never figure out space or even how we were created. all they came up with are theory's. no proof and they will never get proof. and when december 21, 2012 passes, when will they say the world will end then? @datni99aman "anyone who thinks everything was created by some random explosing 13.7 billion years ago just for no damn reason, is a idiot.", belittling the work of the intelectuals who devoted their lives to interpretating the huge amounts of data that have been collected grants you no merit. "all they came up with are theory's", disproving conclusions requires a lot more than picking on a wording because you cannot understand the definition of a theory in scientific context.
@Nargaste Have u ever made anything before? what did it look like 10 years ago.. and 10 years later? did u expected it to be like the shape or sizes the way it will be 10 years ago?
Then how can something or someone know exactly what will happen 13.7 billions year later? things evolves@@@@
A.D stands for Amino Domini, Latin for 'In The Year Of Our Lord'. This counts the years since Christ was supposedly born, so for example we are now in 2010 A.D.

it's a shame that the last attribute was to carl sagan who, like the rest of mankind, has no power to create. the last attribute of these stellar photos should've been "In the beginning God created..."
Wow, I create things all the time! Just created a universe in my kitchen sink. Maybe you're not trying hard enough? Or, more than likely, not playing enough?
And how do you know God created anything? How can you prove God is real? But I can prove to you that Car Sagan WAS VERY REAL. And had the courage to teach us all many realities that most people insist to forget or avoid: how we humans are idiots trying to destroy ourselves.
If there is a God, it would be logical to think that he or she or it would be happier with the videos honoring good people like Sagan, than honoring a God that is already almighty.
creation proves a Creator. humans try to destroy ourselves because we have a sinful nature and that's why we remain violent and unpredictable and self-involved. our God is a jealous God and does not share His glory with another... why should He? it's enough for me that He demonstrated His love by offering a sacrifice for my sin-filled life so that i might know freedom from the bondage of sin and turn instead toward the future in His kingdom.
God loves you and He proved that too through His Son
@ytcdcramer THERE IS NO PROOF WE WERE CREATED. WE ARE NOT CREATIONS therefore we need no creator, also not all creations are created by something intelligent.
@ytcdcramer I was created by my mother and father. There is no reason to think we were created by a supreme power, and I consider a cause and creator different, because most people assume a creator is intelligent, so I use the word cause so I wont confuse people. We have a cause but that cause most defiantly is not an intelligent creator or designer. We are made up of matter, matter is what creates everything. There is evidence of matter therefore matter is our cause. It is what makes everything
@EnchancedHuman i've got a couple of trees in my backyard. today the wind blew 40 leaves off of one of the trees.. and when they fell to the ground they landed in 10 rows of 4, with the leaf tips all pointing north and the stem side up on all 40 of them.. the rows were rectangular, not 10 unrelated rows but 10 consecutive rows all lining up with one another. it was remarkable but it happens every day... the other day 100 leaves blew off and fell to the ground in the shape of my dog.
@ytcdcramer You can see what ever you want to see, ignorance is when you use perspective over fact. I seen a cloud that looked like Santa and his sleigh the other day. It turned out it was actually just a cloud nothing more. The fact that you can find a connection or pattern in a natural event is just human nature but deifntally not something special or a symbol if thats what you think.
how could the first organ that formed, survive in a harsh climate? and how would it lead to another organ that "evolved", and what sort of sustaining environment wrapped it around such that it is safe? this is intelligent design
@libetta because the first organs 1: were not so fragile and 2: were not in a harsh climate, but lived in the better spots. and copieing itself is what DNA does.
Quick Question to LogicRising: what telescope is that at 1:30? That looks exactly like the telescope my university jointly operates out at Kitt Peak. If it isn't that scope, it's definitely built by the same company. Just thought it's cool that I might have used the telescope in your vid. Good job man.
What makes it really interesting is that all of this is just simply thought and that without thought it doesn't exist. Even more interesting is that it is made to expand throught thought. Take time and dimension out of the equation and view it as simply vibration and it takes on a whole new meaning. You'll know when you know.
We cant say for sure how big the universe is. We can estimate, but everytime we look deeper into the universe we find that it just keeps going and that cant possibly be the case if the universe is as old as they say it is.
No, at this point we are guessing and will probably continue to do so for many many years.
Not true. There's a limit to how deep we can look into the universe. 13.7 or so billion years away, there's a wall of light. That wall is the big bang, rushing away from us. We see it as the cosmic background radiation, and there's nothing to see behind it because before that the universe was opaque.
i think we'll never know how everything works or where it came from or how many lifeforms there are. its very intresting but i dont assume, despitely, that we're gonna find the truly answer within our lives. i do think religion will eventually make place for science, mankind still evolves (maybe faster then ever) and the unexplainable wont be explained by a thing called god within xx years. we've got to live our lives now and have the most fun possible and dont waste our time to religion, war,..
@obxyoyoboy but we should assume that there is someone else out there. there a gazillion planets. and other galaxy.. im sure that there is someone else out there..
Religion is threatened by science. That's why the church have tried to stiffle it's advance, at every opportunity, throughout the millenia. If it was up to them, we'd still think the world was flat!
@tannersanta Religion has been the root cause behind many of the wars and most of the problems today. Religious riots in Asia, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, Al Qaeda, Taliban, etc.
Nah, yo umay be right sir, but if we are the only ones in the universe, it shows we are special and have a purpose. Don't forget that a lifeform is God too, so we need to grow !!
Maybe my use of the word life form was abused. I overlook the possibilities of the word "Life Form". Are we first or last ? Middle somewhere ? Damn dots won't connect.
Everything makes sense, but then I get older. Gonna find out sooner or later.
Our parents are behind us and our children are before us. All other organisms currently existing on our planet are beside us. Their parents are behind them. Their children are in front of them. We are not the first, and if we manage to not destroy ourselves, we will not be the last.
"Shadows of the darkness give me courage to stay alive. Grant me happiness, wisdom, magic. If we try, we make darkness transparent if your walking blind and can't decide on smiling proud because inside you wanna cry"
I dont believe in ghosts either, but the statistical results speak for themselves.. If the universe is nearly infinite, combined with a truly infinite number of other dimensions, one can not simply disregard the possibility of such entities..
Im not talking about some fat uneducated farmer that said he saw the chupacabra, i'm talking about real scientific theories.
Unfortunately when you hear someone sayng "I believe in ghosts" you immdeiately think of "some fat uneducated farmer that said he saw the chupacabra". Too often these ghosts are linked with human imagination, horror movies, religion or other crap which takes the phenomenon totally out of the scientific meaning.
A good example is UFOs and ACTUAL UFOs. Most believe in bullshit, the flying discs in area 51 or other crap. I believe in the real UFOs, the one's living in other solar systems and galaxies. So sraken666 is pretty much spot on in his last comment.
Indeed humanity is nothing in comparison with greatness of universe. But people which are not into science because they don't like its complexity, are more likely to deny that...
if it expened billions and bilions of light years in 1 billionth of a billionth of a second and its still expanding for 12 billion years. imagine how big it is. its unimaginable. we will never solve this with our 3 dimensional minds
This video is an improvement on your original one, but I feel like this one was too fast. There were some texts that didn't "breathe" to let sink in totally like the other one did. That could have filled up the empty space at the end of the video. I liked your punctuation phrase at the end of the first one too. I still enjoy this one though as it does clear up some areas that weren't clearly portrayed in the other one. The relative distance voyager travels to proxima centuari is one example
I also like how you added the pulse effect on the 11 miles every second section. I would have thought it was cool if you included a note on the same image the total distance voyager has traveled during the duration of this video.
"11 Miles...every second!" ...... "By the end of this video, Voyager has traveled 2277 more miles" Kinda brings the whole scope of things into even more perspective doesn't it?
Either way, both videos you have I love, and watch them all the time. Thank you!!
I really do not understand how people can believe in a God. If he does exists why would he make us such a insignificant piece of crap? Besides the Bible never mentions him creating all of this. It took him seven days to make Earth and stuff, imagine how long it would take him to make all of this and the fact that it is still expanding.
That's mind boggling... it almost seems as if space is infinite and never ending. I mean do you really think there is a point where light or anything in that matter will suddenly stop and bounce back? But at the same time to think of an infinite space just seems impossible. Hurts the brain.
well its like this. If God doesn't exist, the universe is not infinite. Because the only thing that is is numbers. Remember is the big bang created the universe, heat will die off, ending the universe. So saying it will find a end sometime. If God does exist, then the universe could be infinite or finite. But lets not argue about this. Believe what you want to
I asked my proffesseur about this once, i was told that space is 4D. And us humans can only think about 3D things. This is why it hurts to think about it :)
the universe isn't infinite, it ends. and guess what all you religious people god didn't make the universe (nice vid though i knew most of the stuff portrayed in it but i enjoyed it )
U are wrong there is a God! If there isn't then who or what made the universe?? It just cant appear by itself out of nothing.. Don't give me the Big Bang bullshit.
ignoring the big bang theory and assuming that a god of some sort did create the universe 13.7 billion years ago. I seriously doubt that he knows we exists and planned for us. The universe was once much smaller and hotter - that's a fact that has lead to the big bang theory. to put it in perspective, your god. You create the universe on the 1st of janurary and it is very small. Over the year it gets to the size of the earth. the earth, in comparison is smaller than a carbon nucleus...
... The earth appears duting august or september and life arises shortly after.
To recap, you created the universe at the biggining of the year, it grew to a size that is infinitly larger than it began with and the earth is smaller than a carbon nucleus if this new universe is the size of the earth. Now... it is december 31st of that year. at 11:59 and 50 seconds (10 seconds before the end of that year) wrtitten human history begins. Tucked away in some corner of the universe for 10 seconds...
living on a carbon nucleus. Do you know about it? did you plan for it?
You'd be ignorant to think that we are the only life that exsists in the universe. You'd also be ignorant to believe that we were planned for.
In answer to your question. No i don't believe in god. I don't know what created the universe but whatevcer it was sure didn't know we were going to result. I respect your beliefs as i could be wrong. But please respect mine too.
Sorry but there is sooooo much more to life then just living on a carbon nucleus. By the way, that carbon nucleus is Earth, our home. and it is filled with history that will never be forgotten. Tell me, how do those scientist know what happen 13.7 billion years ago in the universe??? And all we got to is the moon.. If there are alien life, where are they? Why can't they find us? Or we find them.. We are special in Gods eyes.. But sometimes we hurt him by sin and pride..
you make me sad. Your an idiot. I don't care what you think. I am an astronomer. I know more that what you could ever hope for. If there is a god and there is a heaven. I've heard heaven is meant to be great so go kill yourself and get there early.
I know more then you will ever know foolish astronomer. Go and study your dead rocks and gases and carbon bullshit.. When it is my time to leave this earth then i will be with my creator in heaven. i will not kill myself because it is foolish thing to do. Asking someone to kill themself is even foolish.. One day u will know the truth.. =)
your seriously retarded. go take an astronomy class and than maybe you will realize what sort of cult you have been brainwashed into since you were born. Oh yah your cult is also the biggest cause of war since humans have been around. i actually dig the war in iraq since its for money and not a god.. HOrraaah..
well we now whats beyond the moon but we havent traveled there yet. and when the big bang haopened it created billions and billions of light years of universe. all that hapned in a billionth of a billionth of a second and the universe is still expanding for 14 billion years. imagine how big it is. its scary but i dought theres no other living forms out there. not like in the movies. but they are way different because there habitat is different and is what they adjusted too.
don't give me the god bullshit. 1st evolution has been proven countless times, you theists are just to ignorant to accept it, that has to mean that god didn't make men from dirt and women from a man's rib. 2nd the big bang theory has also been proven with the LHC (large hadron colider ). 3d if there is a god who is all powerful and all knowing y cant he just prevent all the natural disasters and all the deaths. If he is all knowing then he would have known about one of his angesl becoming satin
1st: So are our ancestors apes?? Monkeys?? I prefer to believe that our was created in the image of God The Almighty.. U can be an ape.. =)
2nd: The Big Bang Theory is utter bullshit. Why is it a THEORY?? Because it has not been proven. How would those scientist know what happen billions of years ago?? Did u hear about God theory?? The isn't because there is a God!!
3rd: This is earth not heaven. Ofcoz there will be death. Life is a test to see if we truly belong with Him in Heaven..
1st: We are apes so classified by the creationist father of modern taxonomy Carleus Linnaeus.
2nd: A theory is well tested framework tying together a wide variety of facts, that are well documented. Not some wild assed guess. There is no god theory because you have no claims that are testable or falsifiable. So in short god is not even a theory. Big Bang theory predicted the cosmic microwave background which was then discovered with the exact characteristics predicted.
3rd: Death is good. How long do you want to live 100 year good, 1000 years getting complex, 10,000 longer than recorded human history what are you going to do. 1 million? billion? trillion? quadrillion? Possibly so bored even in heaven you would beg for death. Why do people who can't decided what to do with a rainy Sunday afternoon want eternity? Do yourself a favor read a book written after the bronze age. Or if you love the bronze age so much get off the fucking internet.
I dunno, I'd like a few billion years. I want to have the time to space travel in person and watch stars be born and die, and black holes evaporate. There's so many places to go in the universe and movies to watch, but the travel times are most inconvenient for my mayfly lifespan. I wouldn't want to live forever. At some point I'd decide that I had "finished," and be as happy to accept death as I would the ending to a great book.
Yes, your ancestors were apes. RIGHT NOW, you are an ape, a primate, a mammal, a vertebrate, a chordate, a eukaryote, and an animal. Your morphology matches the definition. Your metabolism matches the definition. Your genetics matches the definition.
No, we're not monkeys. Those are more like a cousin. Apes lost their tails, and now we only have a coccyx where the spine used to extend. Monkeys kept the tails.
It doesn't matter what you believe or want. Reality doesn't respond to your demands.
You stupid fool. We are eternal beings created by God. Special and different from any other species on this planet. You can believe that u were an ape.. I believe that i'm a being created in the image of God himself.. U want a banana foolish ape??
The speed of light is 299 792 458 m/s. Its the fastest speed we know so far. So everything that we see in our closest star after the sun, Alpha Centauri, (or is it Proxima like here? can anyone explain) is basically the "past" of the star. Why? It takes
4 x 9 460 550 472 580 800m (distance of 4 lightyears in meters) / 299 792 458 m/s = 126 227 998,3 seconds for light to come to earth from there if i didnt miscalculate. So basically we see in the past. Lets say we had a supertelescope that can
... see another human in a planet in that star. If that human waved to us, it would take about 4 years according to my calculations until we saw him through our telescope, waving to us. So also if we see a VERY far away star now, that star may actually not even exist since it would take millions of years for the image of a destroyed star to come to earth. I hope this is correct, im not very good at maths either, but you get the idea! (i am just throwing an idea, scientists please comment ;) )
yeah that's right. Have you heard of the pillars of creation? located in the eagle nebula they're approximately 6500 light years from us. Get a telescope out and you can see them. However, they do not exist anymore as there was a supernova. They know this because of the age of the star yet we can still see the star as it was 6500 years ago. Similarly in the ultra deep field, many of the galaxies in that image would have changed or may not even exist anymore. Weird isn't it?
Just because we are so small doesn't mean we aren't important. We may be the only things in all of this burning, dead matter that is conscious and can understand anything. Remember what else Carl Sagan said. "We are a way for the universe to know itself."
Maybe we, the universe, "wanted" to see itself, so here we are. ;)
The only reason why we're important is because of the tremendous odds we had to beat to be here. Life may be common in the cosmos. However the chances of humans evolving was extremely small. If anything different happened we would be completely different or may not even exist. You exist because of a definite line that started 13.7 billion years ago. If anything different happened during that time. You would not be here.
Yes i mean think of the animals on earth for example... theres thousands of different animals here but only one specie started to evolve into a clever human. I wonder why only humans became as intelligent as we are now. Or maybe we're just the first ones: some animals such as dolphins and some monkeys appear to be very intelligent too, maybe they keep evolving into more intelligent forms. Talking dolphins in the future or something?
yes that's true but how do you define intelligence? is intelligence the ability to make cities, tools and destroy the world around you? if it is then yes we're intelligent. Dolphins could of course be more intelligent than us. They just lack the ability to use it.
What ive also been wondering about evolution of humans is how our biological evolution (brains) is related to science and new inventions. I mean ancient egyptians could never have thought of, say, flying on an aeroplane for example or powering things with electricity. Is there some kind of a "cap" for our intelligence: is there a point at which we can state the absolute facts about physics and what will and will never be possible. Is it perhaps now?
"ancient egyptians could never have thought of, say, flying on an aeroplane" this is because we learn from what people before us learn. And no we're not at the limit, there is MUCH we don't know and i doubt that humans will ever understand everything because frankly we're not intelligent enough. 99% of humans spend their lives worrying about themselves and don't even realize what's going on in the universe. This saddens me because we have the ability to go far. yet we hold back
Very true.. It is sad that we are holding back. We should spend more resources exploring and understanding the universe. Who knows what secrets and greatness lies out there.
we are important because we are rare. Not because of what we think of ourselves. we are important to the universe as we are a way for the universe to know itself. despite us being the only ones to know of our existence as of yet
We might be rare, I highly doubt it though. We are only rare if we are one of few, I think there are vast numbers of civilisations out there. Civilisations have been, are today and will come in abundance in the cosmos. If we ever find intelligent life, it will change humankind.....everything.
Imagine how much life is out there

The " bigbang" theory sounds just rediculous
That's basically a "big I don't know" answer to the question how did the universe start.
But what do u expect most scientist believe in magic they believe the universe came from nothing. That's " magic" right

@datni99aman "anyone who thinks everything was created by some random explosing 13.7 billion years ago just for no damn reason, is a idiot.", belittling the work of the intelectuals who devoted their lives to interpretating the huge amounts of data that have been collected grants you no merit. "all they came up with are theory's", disproving conclusions requires a lot more than picking on a wording because you cannot understand the definition of a theory in scientific context.

carenkh 1 year ago
And how do you know God created anything? How can you prove God is real? But I can prove to you that Car Sagan WAS VERY REAL. And had the courage to teach us all many realities that most people insist to forget or avoid: how we humans are idiots trying to destroy ourselves.
If there is a God, it would be logical to think that he or she or it would be happier with the videos honoring good people like Sagan, than honoring a God that is already almighty.
You are very closed minded.
toocrazy999 1 year ago 24
creation proves a Creator. humans try to destroy ourselves because we have a sinful nature and that's why we remain violent and unpredictable and self-involved. our God is a jealous God and does not share His glory with another... why should He? it's enough for me that He demonstrated His love by offering a sacrifice for my sin-filled life so that i might know freedom from the bondage of sin and turn instead toward the future in His kingdom.
God loves you and He proved that too through His Son
ytcdcramer 1 year ago
@ytcdcramer THERE IS NO PROOF WE WERE CREATED. WE ARE NOT CREATIONS therefore we need no creator, also not all creations are created by something intelligent.

ytcdcramer 1 year ago

Baronstone 2 years ago
Not true. There's a limit to how deep we can look into the universe. 13.7 or so billion years away, there's a wall of light. That wall is the big bang, rushing away from us. We see it as the cosmic background radiation, and there's nothing to see behind it because before that the universe was opaque.

Unfortunately when you hear someone sayng "I believe in ghosts" you immdeiately think of "some fat uneducated farmer that said he saw the chupacabra".
ChronicallyConfused 2 years ago
I also like how you added the pulse effect on the 11 miles every second section. I would have thought it was cool if you included a note on the same image the total distance voyager has traveled during the duration of this video.
"11 Miles...every second!" ...... "By the end of this video, Voyager has traveled 2277 more miles" Kinda brings the whole scope of things into even more perspective doesn't it?
Either way, both videos you have I love, and watch them all the time. Thank you!!
ChronicallyConfused 2 years ago
I really do not understand how people can believe in a God. If he does exists why would he make us such a insignificant piece of crap? Besides the Bible never mentions him creating all of this. It took him seven days to make Earth and stuff, imagine how long it would take him to make all of this and the fact that it is still expanding.

That's mind boggling... it almost seems as if space is infinite and never ending. I mean do you really think there is a point where light or anything in that matter will suddenly stop and bounce back? But at the same time to think of an infinite space just seems impossible. Hurts the brain.
Xandioth 2 years ago
well its like this.

FabianoRonaldo777 2 years ago
ignoring the big bang theory and assuming that a god of some sort did create the universe 13.7 billion years ago. I seriously doubt that he knows we exists and planned for us. The universe was once much smaller and hotter - that's a fact that has lead to the big bang theory. to put it in perspective, your god. You create the universe on the 1st of janurary and it is very small. Over the year it gets to the size of the earth. the earth, in comparison is smaller than a carbon nucleus...
m0osey 2 years ago
Tucked away in some corner of the universe for 10 seconds...
m0osey 2 years ago
living on a carbon nucleus.
But please respect mine too.
m0osey 2 years ago
Sorry but there is sooooo much more to life then just living on a carbon nucleus. By the way, that carbon nucleus is Earth, our home. and it is filled with history that will never be forgotten. Tell me, how do those scientist know what happen 13.7 billion years ago in the universe??? And all we got to is the moon.. If there are alien life, where are they? Why can't they find us? Or we find them.. We are special in Gods eyes.. But sometimes we hurt him by sin and pride..

FabianoRonaldo777 2 years ago
1st: We are apes so classified by the creationist father of modern taxonomy Carleus Linnaeus.
2nd: A theory is well tested framework tying together a wide variety of facts, that are well documented. Not some wild assed guess. There is no god theory because you have no claims that are testable or falsifiable. So in short god is not even a theory. Big Bang theory predicted the cosmic microwave background which was then discovered with the exact characteristics predicted.
cycik2001 2 years ago
3rd: Death is good. How long do you want to live 100 year good, 1000 years getting complex, 10,000 longer than recorded human history what are you going to do. 1 million? billion? trillion? quadrillion? Possibly so bored even in heaven you would beg for death. Why do people who can't decided what to do with a rainy Sunday afternoon want eternity? Do yourself a favor read a book written after the bronze age. Or if you love the bronze age so much get off the fucking internet.
cycik2001 2 years ago
I dunno, I'd like a few billion years. I want to have the time to space travel in person and watch stars be born and die, and black holes evaporate. There's so many places to go in the universe and movies to watch, but the travel times are most inconvenient for my mayfly lifespan. I wouldn't want to live forever. At some point I'd decide that I had "finished," and be as happy to accept death as I would the ending to a great book.
rkyeun 2 years ago 2
Yes, your ancestors were apes. RIGHT NOW, you are an ape, a primate, a mammal, a vertebrate, a chordate, a eukaryote, and an animal. Your morphology matches the definition. Your metabolism matches the definition. Your genetics matches the definition.
No, we're not monkeys. Those are more like a cousin. Apes lost their tails, and now we only have a coccyx where the spine used to extend. Monkeys kept the tails.
It doesn't matter what you believe or want. Reality doesn't respond to your demands.

Lets say we had a supertelescope that can
noneactive 2 years ago
... see another human in a planet in that star. (i am just throwing an idea, scientists please comment ;) )
noneactive 2 years ago
yeah that's right.

Promatheos 2 years ago
Just because we are so small doesn't mean we aren't important. We may be the only things in all of this burning, dead matter that is conscious and can understand anything. Remember what else Carl Sagan said. "We are a way for the universe to know itself."
Maybe we, the universe, "wanted" to see itself, so here we are. ;)
Promatheos 2 years ago
The only reason why we're important is because of the tremendous odds we had to beat to be here. Life may be common in the cosmos. However the chances of humans evolving was extremely small. If anything different happened we would be completely different or may not even exist. You exist because of a definite line that started 13.7 billion years ago. If anything different happened during that time. You would not be here.
m0osey 2 years ago
Yes i mean think of the animals on earth for example... theres thousands of different animals here but only one specie started to evolve into a clever human. I wonder why only humans became as intelligent as we are now. Or maybe we're just the first ones: some animals such as dolphins and some monkeys appear to be very intelligent too, maybe they keep evolving into more intelligent forms. Talking dolphins in the future or something?
noneactive 2 years ago
yes that's true but how do you define intelligence? is intelligence the ability to make cities, tools and destroy the world around you? if it is then yes we're intelligent. Dolphins could of course be more intelligent than us. They just lack the ability to use it.
m0osey 2 years ago
What ive also been wondering about evolution of humans is how our biological evolution (brains) is related to science and new inventions. I mean ancient egyptians could never have thought of, say, flying on an aeroplane for example or powering things with electricity. Is there some kind of a "cap" for our intelligence: is there a point at which we can state the absolute facts about physics and what will and will never be possible. Is it perhaps now?
noneactive 2 years ago
"ancient egyptians could never have thought of, say, flying on an aeroplane" this is because we learn from what people before us learn. And no we're not at the limit, there is MUCH we don't know and i doubt that humans will ever understand everything because frankly we're not intelligent enough. 99% of humans spend their lives worrying about themselves and don't even realize what's going on in the universe. This saddens me because we have the ability to go far. yet we hold back
m0osey 2 years ago 2
Very true.. It is sad that we are holding back. We should spend more resources exploring and understanding the universe. Who knows what secrets and greatness lies out there.

We might be rare, I highly doubt it though. We are only rare if we are one of few, I think there are vast numbers of civilisations out there. Civilisations have been, are today and will come in abundance in the cosmos. If we ever find intelligent life, it will change humankind.....everything.
