What's crazy is if you look at the literature, as in the studies published through ACSM and NSCA journals, they're clearly explicit about there being no benefit past 2 grams/kg - and that's for ultra endurance athletes who need more than body builders because they're constantly using fat/protein for energy. They also state that generally, if you meet your caloric needs, you'll for sure meet your protein needs for the day. So no one really needs to worry about protein.
Great video and very informative, I train hard and im consider myself fairly fit. Im 40 now and started boxing when I was 10 still involved in boxing(dont fight anymore)but I just cant seem to get the right shape I want. So im wondering about diet, if you can help me in any way please..
@nzbbs Only "issue" I see is that different brands, even if they are just a whey, may have different goals in mind. For instance, some wheys may be more of a meal-replacement style supplement, while others aren't. There's nothing bad about switching it up, it may just make your results less predictable in a sense. If you're considering switching I would check the nutritional labeling on the new protein and compare it with your old, ask workers if you have any questions.
wait i need 1 gram per pound of my body weight after my workout or the entire day? I heard that if i multiply .25 by my body weight then that is the amount i need after a workout
@mrfresh9900 You only need 1g per lb body weight throughout the entire day if you are a physically active person. If you can reach that goal through your normal diet, for example, eggs, chicken, red meat, etc., then you wouldn't necessarily need to take any protein supplements. But if you are doing a lot of heavy lifting in the gym and require fast absorbing protein such as whey, then you would only need 1 serving, which varies per brand.
@PeteyThePickle You're tall as hell. For your measurements you're on the right track. Just keep up the good form, training, and nutrition. Stay consistent, and the strength will come, friend.
@biiaattcchh100 well said bro I was always between taking them or not but until now I haven't touched any I wanna gain it all natural but it'll take time I guess

all i hear about is protein. Give it a rest already if anything everyones goal should be less than 10% of your calorie in take should be fat, between 10-20% protein and between 70-85%carbs what u need is energy. yes u do need protein to build muscle but when u r not building muscle u dont need protein so ur body just disposes of it and trust me u r not building muscle all the time no matter how much u workout or everyone would be walking around like ARNOLD
@StinkinVegan actually that is completely false, more fat is needed. Carbohydrates especially fructose can lead to glycation and lead to a bad gut flora which has a whole host of consequences. Now the type fat is very important, too much PUFA can be very bad as well. If you're interested we are happy to send you some good resources for this info. Anyways we appreciate you watching.
hi,I'm 19 and im really skinny,i decided to go to workout..and take protein, for how much time i will see diference at my body? please someone answer i need to know really bad:( sorry for language..
@arbboss If you use these protein shakes and bars, you won't see results until 4 or 5 maybe even 6 months later, that is big results. However, keep at it, because just because you cant tell now you can always tell later. So don't stop just because you don't see results.
@sonnydog9 No no, if you don't see improvements within the first couple months then something is wrong, Whether that be your protein intake, your workout schedule i don't know .
@Assasinscreed360 Oh i see, i read your post wrong. The way i see it, you should only use supplements around your workouts. During the day and at night, you should always consume whole foods. I relied too much on protein powder and i didn't see the results i was looking for, Far from it actually haha

@Ervin90100 Bulking up is great. I just started out, I now have a 6 pack and people tell me I look ripped. Its a real confidence builder. I combine it with Martial Arts (I'm a 2nd degree black belt) for a really effective use of muscle. Its awesome.
i work from 2pm to 6pm i go to the gym by 7;30 out by 8;30 go home take my isolate and creatine shower eat the go to my other job @ 11 pm and i got out @ 7am go home eat sleep up by 1;30 to start my day all over at 2. so my ? is what can i do to keep my body in a anabolic state since i really not have time to eat is there anything that can help me as to supplements foods that i can by an take with me so i can eat throughout the day . can someone plz help me .
@TheBriznat Mass is a good thing cause the more muscle you have the more calories your body burns at rest. Basically the food u eat goes str8 to your muscles first. Hence why fit people can eat what they want. Anyway, how many days a week were u working out, cardio/weights how long etc and how many calories were u burning per session?
Hi guys... Nice video. I am about 160lb, 5'10 with 16-17%bf. I am looking to gain muscle and loose fat at the same time. I am a vegetarian and I dont eat eggs too. My question is can I get my whole 150-160 gms of protein entirely in supplementation. I there any side effects in taking too much protein shakes. Thanks in advance.
I'm 16, 6'3 and 290 lbs high school football offensive tackle. A bit of access fat, not an extreme amount though. I'm trying to get BULK, we lift every day for about 40 minutes and do a good bit of 45 minutes of intense agilities/tire pulling/ etc, etc. How much protein daily would you recommend to me? and when should i take it?
What amount of protein do I need if I am trying to lose weight? I'm currently 280lbs roughly, big belly, flabby mostly, out of shape etc I'm 32 yrs old, male and 6 foot tall. I'm looking to get down to the 200lb mark. Im not looking for a body build type but more so just to be healthy, increase energy and not have my belly hang over my pants. Should I focus more on cardio, weight training? Im looking to lose it in about 8 months. Any help would be appeciated. I'm on week 2 of working out.
I think is funny how people judge others about what they do and what they take and how they take care of themselves it shouldn't really matter it's not u
The way I've understood it is that Casein breaks down and metabolizes slower, thus giving a more even protein synthesis over the day compared to Whey. Are there any strong uses for Whey protein over Casein, excluding in post-workout shakes?
(For pre and post workout I usually just go with EAA compounds, as this seems to have a better effect on the acute protein synthesis required during and after the workout, as opposed to Whey and gainers.)
Hi, I am just starting this week trying to lose weight but also build some biceps. How much grams should I take of protein if I start taking this. Right now I am using 3lb weights, until I get to the store. I will buy 25lb weights. But I use the 3lb and I do alot of reps with them until I start to feel it. But I want to start taking Whey Protein before I get into heavy weights. Btw, I am 5'5 weighing 233. Will the protein effect me losing weight or will I lose it, but just gain muscle too?
I'm trying to loose 30 pounds...should I take protein when I start loosing weight or should I wait till I have more fat loss before I start trying to build muscle????
The middle container is my baby. I love that stuff..... have seen some great gains since I started taking it. Helps me "supplement" my diet perfectly.
so lets say i meet up 84 grams of protein from my daily meals and i weight 154 pounds,so i need a lot more just to have enough for my body weight, but i've heard that in order to build more muscle you gotta have even more than just you body weight to gain more muscle .so how can i do that
Is it possible to get you guys to ship to Australia? I hear that some products (mainly proteins) are hard to get through our customs but others like pre-workouts, creatine and clothing etc. should be alright? Or is that something for the future?
@SPmex03 It's the best sugar you can get post workout, but it doesn't really matter as long as you get some carbs and protein. 20-40g protein, same as carbs, maybe a bit lower. You don't need a protein shake post workout either, you can simply eat a meal with those macros.
I'm sorry but you are wrong in saying that too much protien does nothing. If you intake more protien then you need not only can it turn to fat but even active people can get kidney stones. when there is too much protien in your body it starts to suck the calcium out of your bones. You will have kidney stones.
@JOHNNYwxw Then it really doesnt matter so much. Yes, its good to eat high amounts of protein in bulk, but the thing you have to realize is that you will have to eat more than you consume. High quality carbs and fats are the way to go. Ofc you want to include protein at breakfast and the meal after you go to bed. But doesnt matter so much if you just eat enough. In diet and when cutting, its critical to eat 3g x bodyweight, but id say 1 g for one pound is ok. Any clearer?
@PiGLET4LYF well you want to eat more than you burn, we have a video that we address this topic in depth, its titled how to gain weight/how to gain muscle as we cover the topic in detail (you can find it on our channel page). Don't let the title deter you as you will find it very helpful. If you have any questions after watching feel free to ask.
@BestPriceNutrition if you dont reach your amount of calories needed you wont gain weight either. i should eat around 2k and i eat like 1000-1500 some day, 600-800 some day, etc and i dont work out at the moment. will start after new years have got a gym at home now :)
@flawns well i still workout. like i go to kickboxing, pilates, yoga, and cardio interval everyweek and eat clean. the "uncleanest" thing i eat is clif bars
Hi guys i like your channel gd info consistent from what i learned so far, i would like very much to see a video about "How Much FAT Do I Need... " and the differences of unsaturated n saturated because most of fitnes channels talk on n on about carbs but forget about fats..
@somedudey0 sure we can discuss the importance of dietary fat and its role (may be a few weeks). We do have a video up discussing the role of Omega 3 fatty acids which you can find on our YouTube homepage. Hope this helps.
@afbj89 200g of meat does not necessarily mean 200g of protein as there is fat as well. Therefore the cut of meat makes a difference. We are talking about protein from all sources food and supplement. Hope this helps.
@thunder72191 TWM has a lot of meaning so not sure what you mean, but anyways if you have a question or contention with something we said we are happy to answer, either way thank you for watching.
I weigh 131 lbs and in freshman high school. I am out for football, basketball, and track. I am about 6'1 and very lean but skinny. I work out Mondays and Wednesday but do cardio and ab workouts everyday. How much protein should i get a day to pack on muscle.
@PingasMYPingasPlease 0.75-1g per pound of your goal body weight per day. Now you also have to get enough calories from fat and carbs so you are not burning your protein for energy. Check out our vid on how to gain weight/how to gain muscle as we cover the topic in detail (you can find it on our channel page). If you have any questions after watching feel free to ask.
I weigh 335 and im 6'2 and im i go to the gym 5 days out of the week and my goal is strongman/ powerlifting and im trying to gain more muscle and i have a good food plan but i dont have the money for meat so i usually have 3-5 protein shakes a day thats including a post workout shake and i eat the vegetables and take multi-vitamins and i get a lot of water but im really interested in how much protein i should be taking
@Bigeezy75 based on your goals try and get at least 0.75g per pound of your goal body weight. Now also be sure to get plenty of carbs and fat as this will ensure you are not burning your protein for energy. Hope this helps.
@loulooks323 likely yes however it is dependent on a few factors including your goals, body weight, and how much protein you are getting from food in addition to supplements. Sorry to be ambiguous just need more info to answer intelligently.
@BestPriceNutrition no i agree with you.. i weigh 174 when i wake up... and i try to eat chicken breast, oatmeal, egg whites, beef, and greek yogurt thats high in protein oh yeah and tuna. i drink 100 grams or less in shakes and another 80 gramsn in food.
@loulooks323 that's perfect, if you are trying to gain or lose weight keep your protein here and adjust your carbs and fat accordingly. Hope this helps.
@TinyAKA30 there is no way to get 1.5 per pound from food. Do u know how much lean meat that takes its at least for me proven to much to eat so I have like 3 protein shakes a day
@linnywinnie5 that's a myth & discounts other factors such as body weight, how much was ingested up to the point one takes in more protein, protein type, etc... The human body is not in the business of wasting nutrients hence we have storage mechanisms. Our ancestors didn't have the convenience of ingesting x amount of protein every 2-3 hours, rather they ate when they found/caught food. The 5-6 meals/day is also a myth. We can send you the research if you'd like, thank you for watching
if im looking to cut down, what kinds of foods should i be looking for to include a good amount of into my diet? ive heard of almonds being a good snack to keep in my system but im looking for real food, like chicken or vegetables?
@yellowbear25 check out our video on the Paleo Diet as we address much of this in that video and we think you will find it helpful (go to our YouTube home page and you will see it there "Paleo Diet for Athletes"). Feel free if you have any question after watching. Hope this helps.
So how much carbs should i eat a day to burn fat but also be building muscle and is eating 2 or 4 slices of white bread along with my protein shake post workout good? Or is a eating a banana better? Should my diet consist of 40% carbs,40% protein, and 20% fats if i want to lose fat and build muscle? Thanks
@SPmex03 there is not a magic ratio we can tell you as it is all going to be relative to your activity level. Best thing you can do is get ~0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day. From there write down what you are eating for about a week to get an idea of how many calories you are eating and then start cutting back if you are not getting lean. Also we just posted a video where Glenn is doing a 12 week lean out and you can follow him and what he is doing on Facebook.
@flashxpert your protein need from supplements is determined relative to your intake from foods. For post workout be sure to add carbs to your protein and don't take it too close to your workout before (1 hour). As for the headaches try it a few more times and if it persists try a different protein. Hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition ... okay. I usually take it like 10mins before workout & then immediately after workout 10-15mins... any help with what kind of carbs? almonds?
i weight 145 im 5'8 and i play varsity soccer we run alot and its very time consuming. im debating wether to quit to work out and get bigger because i cant see result of me getting big and bulkier at all and its been 3 months.
@onedeep66 you can gain weight and play soccer so you really don't have to choose. You just need to eat more than you burn. So if you like soccer keep playing, also we just made a video on how to gain weight, if you go to our YouTube homepage you will see it in our video list. Feel free to shoot us questions after watching. Thank you for watching.
@IbanezGio122 we just made a video on how to gain weight, if you go to our YouTube homepage you will see it in our video list. This will directly answer your question and then some, if after watching you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for watching.
@Lordwarship it really all depends upon how much you get from food as well. Ultimately you want to shoot for 0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day from a combination of food and supplement. So if you are say 200 lbs and get 125g of protein from food, then you would want ~75-100g from supplements. Hope this helps.
Im a natural Bodybuilder... I take in right now between 260 to 300 grams of protein a day. Thats better than anything you can buy. I am at 255lbs now and Cutting up. If you want to GAIN size take 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per pound per day. Make sure you have all your carbs by 5pm... hels with cutting up.
Hello, im 5'7 and im 160 lbs (went down from 215lbs) and i plan on dropping to 150 by the end of the year. i run 20-35 minutes and work out for an hour to an hour and a half 5-6 times a week. though my goal is to loose weight i also want to gain muscle as i go. i started taking the 100% whey about a month ago but im only taking in 1 scoop after i work out. This puts me at around 50-75 grams of protein a day because of my diet. what do you suggest i do to gain muscle while i loose weight?
@igclass2004 shoot for 0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal bodyweight, for you though since you are hypocaloric you should go w/ 1g or 150g per day. Now keep in mind that is from both food and supplement. You can keep your carbs and fat lower to stay on track. Hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition awesome and i was also wondering if it is better to do weight training before cardio or vise versa since i hear that its better to take in your protein after you lift to build upper body muscle and i heard that if you take it in after you run your muscles on your legs will take in more of the protein since those muscles are the ones that are stressed.
@igclass2004 if you split your exercise, we recommend doing weight training first as you want your ATP levels elevated for your anaerobic training. For post workout take carbs and protein at ~2:1 ratio and take after finishing your training (both cardio and weight training) that is one serving after your whole w/o is complete. Hope this helps.
@BestPriceNutrition thank you! And I had a trainer told me if a take a spoonful of peanut butter 5 times a day I'll gain a pound in a week. I know peanut butter has a lot of calories.
My weight is about 130, very lean and I take my protein shakes in the morning daily along with fruits. Working out and eating right daily , do you think I'm going to gain mass from this after 3 or 4 month?. And is it ok to drink 2 protein shakes a day?
@16KillaKam if you have been doing the same thing in terms diet and activity and have not gained then you need to increase your calorie intake as you would be burning what you are taking in. In this case you could slowly add in servings of carbs and fat. Two protein shakes is fine as you want to shoot for ~0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day from a combination of food and supplements. Hope this helps.
Good video. It seems like you guys always have top of the line proteins in front of you. I ordered some "Twinlab 100% Whey Protein". It's a mix of concentrate and isolate. Hopefully I'm not sacrificing too much quality by going with a less known brand. If you have anything to say about it or recommend, please get back to me. Once again, thanks and good video.
@fznsports for the most part a cheaper powder such as the one from Twinlab is OK, however there are differences. The main difference from a CFM whey isolate is the fat and lactose content and more importantly the preservation of the protein. Whey is a mixture of globular proteins, these biological subfractions in their native state can have immune enhancing effects as one example is it increases glutathione levels. Hope this helps.
What's crazy is if you look at the literature, as in the studies published through ACSM and NSCA journals, they're clearly explicit about there being no benefit past 2 grams/kg - and that's for ultra endurance athletes who need more than body builders because they're constantly using fat/protein for energy.

What amount of protein do I need if I am trying to lose weight? I'm currently 280lbs roughly, big belly, flabby mostly, out of shape etc I'm 32 yrs old, male and 6 foot tall. I'm looking to get down to the 200lb mark. Im not looking for a body build type but more so just to be healthy, increase energy and not have my belly hang over my pants. Should I focus more on cardio, weight training? Im looking to lose it in about 8 months. Any help would be appeciated. I'm on week 2 of working out.

You consume less, exercise less,
(it can not only harm you but you wont get the best results since you'll not have enough energy)

What's your opinion on Caseine contra Whey?

SPmex03 1 month ago
@SPmex03 It's the best sugar you can get post workout, but it doesn't really matter as long as you get some carbs and protein. 20-40g protein, same as carbs, maybe a bit lower. You don't need a protein shake post workout either, you can simply eat a meal with those macros.

I'm sorry but you are wrong in saying that too much protien does nothing. If you intake more protien then you need not only can it turn to fat but even active people can get kidney stones. when there is too much protien in your body it starts to suck the calcium out of your bones. You will have kidney stones.
vortex677 2 months ago
@vortex677 Protein does not magically turn into fat. Excess calories does, than goes for fat, protein and carbs- protein is not special here.

JOHNNYwxw 2 months ago
@JOHNNYwxw Then it really doesnt matter so much. Yes, its good to eat high amounts of protein in bulk, but the thing you have to realize is that you will have to eat more than you consume. High quality carbs and fats are the way to go. Ofc you want to include protein at breakfast and the meal after you go to bed. But doesnt matter so much if you just eat enough. In diet and when cutting, its critical to eat 3g x bodyweight, but id say 1 g for one pound is ok. Any clearer?

ediot6969 2 months ago
body can only digest 20-30g of protein per 2-3 hrs
linnywinnie5 3 months ago
@linnywinnie5 that's a myth & discounts other factors such as body weight, how much was ingested up to the point one takes in more protein, protein type, etc... The human body is not in the business of wasting nutrients hence we have storage mechanisms. Our ancestors didn't have the convenience of ingesting x amount of protein every 2-3 hours, rather they ate when they found/caught food. The 5-6 meals/day is also a myth. We can send you the research if you'd like, thank you for watching

Thanks
SPmex03 3 months ago
@SPmex03 there is not a magic ratio we can tell you as it is all going to be relative to your activity level. Best thing you can do is get ~0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day. From there write down what you are eating for about a week to get an idea of how many calories you are eating and then start cutting back if you are not getting lean. Also we just posted a video where Glenn is doing a 12 week lean out and you can follow him and what he is doing on Facebook.

I take 1 scoop Pre and Post work out... is that bad? I've read everyone usually does that...
flashxpert 3 months ago
@flashxpert your protein need from supplements is determined relative to your intake from foods. For post workout be sure to add carbs to your protein and don't take it too close to your workout before (1 hour). As for the headaches try it a few more times and if it persists try a different protein. Hope this helps.

I take two scoop in a day? is that good?
Lordwarship 3 months ago
@Lordwarship it really all depends upon how much you get from food as well. Ultimately you want to shoot for 0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day from a combination of food and supplement. So if you are say 200 lbs and get 125g of protein from food, then you would want ~75-100g from supplements. Hope this helps.

This puts me at around 50-75 grams of protein a day because of my diet. what do you suggest i do to gain muscle while i loose weight?
igclass2004 3 months ago
@igclass2004 shoot for 0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal bodyweight, for you though since you are hypocaloric you should go w/ 1g or 150g per day. Now keep in mind that is from both food and supplement. You can keep your carbs and fat lower to stay on track. Hope this helps.
BestPriceNutrition 3 months ago
@BestPriceNutrition awesome and i was also wondering if it is better to do weight training before cardio or vise versa since i hear that its better to take in your protein after you lift to build upper body muscle and i heard that if you take it in after you run your muscles on your legs will take in more of the protein since those muscles are the ones that are stressed.
igclass2004 3 months ago
@igclass2004 if you split your exercise, we recommend doing weight training first as you want your ATP levels elevated for your anaerobic training. For post workout take carbs and protein at ~2:1 ratio and take after finishing your training (both cardio and weight training) that is one serving after your whole w/o is complete. Hope this helps.

My weight is about 130, very lean and I take my protein shakes in the morning daily along with fruits. Working out and eating right daily , do you think I'm going to gain mass from this after 3 or 4 month?. And is it ok to drink 2 protein shakes a day?
16KillaKam 4 months ago
@16KillaKam if you have been doing the same thing in terms diet and activity and have not gained then you need to increase your calorie intake as you would be burning what you are taking in. In this case you could slowly add in servings of carbs and fat. Two protein shakes is fine as you want to shoot for ~0.75-1g of protein per pound of your goal body weight per day from a combination of food and supplements. Hope this helps.
BestPriceNutrition 4 months ago
Once again, thanks and good video.
fznsports 4 months ago
@fznsports for the most part a cheaper powder such as the one from Twinlab is OK, however there are differences. The main difference from a CFM whey isolate is the fat and lactose content and more importantly the preservation of the protein. Whey is a mixture of globular proteins, these biological subfractions in their native state can have immune enhancing effects as one example is it increases glutathione levels. Hope this helps.
