Hi, I'm wondering if its harder for a single artist who is into the pop genre say.. music like Britney Spears to break into the industry now these days?
lol... this is all theory... it shows you've never been outside of the university, with those tips you will not pass the security guards of major record labels. In the real world you have to KASC... kiss ass and suck cock...
This video was made 2 yrs ago to only share basic tips that go a long way. I am not a guru on breaking into the industry, but I do know that its all about who you know. These days labels want all the work to be done, if you have a huge following and have the whole package already when approaching companies, then you will be more appealing. Also I've learned that great music speaks for itself, originality speaks for itself, and NETWORKING will help! Good luck to you!
In my network are some of the largest companies,Miramax Films,Paramount Pictures, United Artist, XXL ,THE SOURCE and Warner Bros. to name a few!
Im saying all this to make the point, I am networking with all of these companies and all of them with me but not just networking in the myspace kinda sense but on a far deeper level bringing not only exposure but financial independence!
My name is Triniti, I have 20 years of Industry Exp. under my belt I run Slamjamz South Studios, Studio Owned by Public Enemy Frontman Chuck D and Myself.
You're right...networking is crucial in any field, but especially in one as competitive as the music industry. Thanks for dropping the knowledge about the conferences in Atlanta, and I'll have to add JaWar's books to my reading list :-)
indeed...networking is a must. For me, the easiest way to Network has always been to have a quality product for people to listen to, and passion. If people; from the record label reps to A&R's to your fellow aspiring recording artists, DJ's and producers, see the passion you have for your music and you have GOOD MUSIC they can FEEL, alot of foot work is eliminated. It makes people come to you, and it makes it easier to hook people once you're acquainted...
These are great videos for any aspiring music artists or people who just want to be in the industry! I thought Jawar had great advice! I'm glad someone would be nice enough to make these videos and be so helpful
It's crazy really... while networking you meet countless people that can really give your career a push! Just last week I met a producer at a workshop who has already given me six tracks for my new CD!! So, it's my advice to TAKE ADVICE from this beautiful, young lady Carmel!!
I agree totally! "Network, network, network!" Networking is absolutely KEY to success in any and ALL careers, especially the Music Industry. Being a young artist myself, I've seen the extreme advantages and disadvantages of networking with other artists/producers/etc.
Ignorance runs rampant, obviously. I really appreciate this video and I think more like it should be available to our generation to help us better understand such a complex industry.
wow this video is really informative. i have gained a lot of insight. the networking tips are def useful. You should continue to make videos homegirl!
