@rambohunt1 i have a brown lab and it is almost the exact same experience as raising a golden retriever... its all about your personal taste. and if your thinking of getting a retriever remember that the first 5 months are very tough and demanding, dont forget to train them not to bite at a very young age or else they will think people like it and always do it.

He's your typical shithead when he wants to be, but for the most part he has been pretty good with training. Getting him not to mouth so much and lay down is difficult, but I was pleasantly surprised when he knew "drop it" with any real sort of training. He's a dumdum, but I love him all the same.

@evelynangle After a while, they just won't learn basic things. You have to turn it into a game somewhat, give her treats if she does something right if not don't give her things. My dog is three and still isn't trained.

At my old school one of the teachers had a lab which she brought to school everyday and it followed her around everywhere in the school, WITHOUT a leash. I don't know why the principal allowed that but probably cause she was a really well-trained dog. The lab would play frisbee and ball with kids at recess and it was so fun :)

Murphy is very greedy and in the last year he has put on a bit of weight!! Anyone have any advice on how to help him lose it! I want to buy two puppies, a Jack Russell and a Labrador. I live in an apartment, so we have no garden. Is alot of room necessary for the labrador? Some people also said it's not smart to buy two puppies at the same time. Actually I don't think it will cause many problems, but I doubt a little. Can anyone gives advise?
I would advise against getting a Labrador for an apartment, unless you plan on taking it out to the park often to exercise. They're big dogs and they need some room to run around.
@IM000S Is this your first puppy? If so please research and you may just need to get one dog for now. Also puppies are cute but they are A LOT of work! You have to make a lot of time for them and be consistent with your training and let them know what is and what isn't acceptable from the jump. And a lab may not be best suited for an apt.
@lolosofli no,ofcourse it's not my first puppy. I did alot of research yes,and i do know alot about dogs and puppies,and how much time they need. When I was a kid I took care of my puppy too. I know alot of people which have dogs like the lab for example,and their dog(s) can live perfectly in an appartment. The place where they live is not the most important thing,but how much exercise they get. And I definitely give/gave my dogs alot of exercise.

When I was a kid, there was a black female labrador who was my one of aunt's dog and lived at my grandma's old house. The dog's name was Jenna and she was my best friend.

We had a Black Lab named Cynder. She had been through Getting hit by a car and cancer. She passed away this past summer. She was 13 but still healthy and even with a breathing problem she would still play until she collapses. The cancer had taken her life. She was so hyper and loving and always loved to swim.

@JustLiving305 depends on how its raised mine barks at strangers that get into the back yard he is 3 months old. I payed 700.00 for him his parents are hunting lines. His dad is master hunter 75 pounds mother is senior hunter 85 pounds. Both parents are EIC, CNM, and CERF clear. dont get one from a byb they tend to be very hyper and can get over wheight very fast and come with many health problems. I am selling him because my 2 dogs are old and they dont like him even though he doesnt bug them.

When I was a kid, there was a black female labrador who was my one of aunt's dog and lived at my grandma's old house. The dog's name was Jenna and she was my best friend.
I miss her so much :'( but I know in my heart she's happy up in doggy heaven and when I die, we'll be together again =)

We had a Black Lab named Cynder. She had been through Getting hit by a car and cancer. She passed away this past summer. She was 13 but still healthy and even with a breathing problem she would still play until she collapses. The cancer had taken her life. She was so hyper and loving and always loved to swim.
R.I.P Cynder you were my best friend.

@JustLiving305 depends on how its raised mine barks at strangers that get into the back yard he is 3 months old. I payed 700.00 for him his parents are hunting lines. His dad is master hunter 75 pounds mother is senior hunter 85 pounds. Both parents are EIC, CNM, and CERF clear. dont get one from a byb they tend to be very hyper and can get over wheight very fast and come with many health problems. I am selling him because my 2 dogs are old and they dont like him even though he doesnt bug them.

My first dog ever was a yellow labrador.
He was around when I was born and was my companion until he passed away when I was 9 years old. That was 11 years ago. I love him and miss him very much, he had such a personality and was the sweetest dog ever! We have 2 black labs now. Labradors are the best! <3
