I'm going to make that carrot cake this weekend. Maybe I'll put it into several little cups instead of one big dish. ((more room for frosting)) Thanks for showing it. Nice to see how it's supposed to turn out. Sounds delicious! Love the combo of carrots, dates, raisins and cashews, maple syrup, vanilla and lemon - YUM!
Check out books/videos by Dr. B. Caldwell Esselstyn of 'Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease' fame - SOME others think that if you're not fighting heart disease or obesity, a LITTLE oil is okay but I think you absorb the nutrients in your food better without it
I watch the trailer for the movie every now and again, and am drooling over that lovely stew. Now I know it's Tuscan White Bean Soup. Totally want the recipe.
Both the 'cheese' used on the pizza and the non-dairy cream cheese frosting for the carrot cake are DELICIOUS! The only problem I have with ALL these recipes (FOK, E2, McDougall, Barnard, Esselstyn, etc. etc. etc.) is that it's NOT hard to find something you really like, and when you do, it's hard to resist trying it over and over and over again on a cookie, on a cracker, as an apple dip, a celery dip, on a tortilla, over bread, a salad or - most often - on a spoon, straight out of the bowl!
going to be posting vids of these recipes and more, also come find me on facebook at feel good guru's food and lots more recipes in my e-cookbook series "feel good fast" on my site feelgoodguru. your comments are very much appreciated. thank you!
the QUINOA salad abd Tuscan bean soup look yummy!!! havent had the best experiences with vegan food, bad chef/recipe maybe? but those look deish! anyone know which books they are in?
@xaniiu all the recipes here are in the forks over knives companion book, and more like 'em in my e-book series "feel good fast" which you can find on my site feelgoodguru
The human body will convert ANY food to fat that it can't use - animal fat, protein, pasta, fruit, etc., etc. Eating 5 pounds of steak or barbeque a day will add fat to anybody not bodybuilding 6 hours a day. Same with pasta, etc., etc. Ever see a pro BBQ cook that was skinny? Because they don't run 10 miles with a spear to bring down the cow, slather sauces on the meat and consume way too many calories of ALL SORTS, in other words consume way too much food.

all organic hmm? i like the idea you got there and the food sounds tasty. would you mind displaying what your total spent at the market was for that ONE meal?? because for those of us who are below the poverty level it's the price point of eating healthy that is the real problem. Vegan/vegetarian/raw food/organic diets are so trendy now, the price of these foods are going up. I'm 6'1, 168lbs. but soon my metabolism will slow down. let's hope i can afford for it to.
@just1nr85e grow your own food! if people in NYC can do it so can you! my mom didnt ahve much of a green house (or much of a green thumb) but I can remember when i was little we started plants in the house and moved them outside when they were strng enough. seeds cents on the dollar and will pay off all year round if you do it right!
What a joke this movie is. Can't the vegans and vegetarians just give up? What they propose didn't work in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. It's time to have a grass-fed steak and admit your wrong!
@boaire - Gorillas are vegans and they grow to 450 lbs at 2 times the strength per pound of muscle than humans. So there is nothing wrong with vegetables - meat purveyors don't much like the future of a vegetarian diet, but it works. I still eat meat - mostly wild game, so I can't preach, but I feel much better, have more energy, weigh 15 pounds less without workouts and listening to my body - it obviously has a positive effect. I pity the obese people walking out of a barbeque restaurant.
@OurGreenWorks Actually the obese people do not become obese from the meat at the barbeque restaurant, it's the breads, pastas, and desserts. You can't get fat from eating fat. I still can't believe that in the age of the internet that so many people don't know it. Here's a question for you, is a gorilla really a vegetarian? Is a cow?
@boaire yes, a cow should be a vegitarian. and it is meant to only eat green grasses. the corn most are fed actually kills them. As for gorillas, the only "meat" they eat are juicey caterpillars!
and yes, fat is bad for you. in every form. sugar, oil, animal fat. all bad. plant fat is diffrent. its not so bad. but not fat is best.
@boaire The reason that people who come out of a barbeque restaurant are so much larger than people walking out of nearly any other restaurant (visit Corky's in Memphis), is that they have no restraint when it comes to food - regardless of whether it's meat, potatoes, deserts, breads, etc. When you consume a meal with 3700 calories and your body is only using 2000 calories, the body stores the rest as fat - regardless of its fat content. So eat for ONE - not a family of four.
@boaire I think you're just here to start trouble here to make people angry. I dont know what you mean in the "70s- 90's", if you are talking about the gov. recommendations, the gov. is tied down by the meat & dairy industries. uncle sam has always preached that meat is full of good protien and milk is full of calcium. its clear you are no educated man (or woman) because if you had ever gone to a health class outside of high school you would have learned at least that red meat is bad for you.
@biology1234 I think you scored a perfect "100%" on getting everything you said to be wrong. Please tell me the largest part (that would be the bottom tier) of the government food pyramid.
I am getting bored with my basic vegan cooking skills..me thinks I can learn something new here...I will subscibe to your site but I will need for you to marry me first.....
I think i'm seasick.
