@samm565 This isn't even that great of a thing. It isn't really destroying the environment, it's creating an illusion using voxels and bumpmapping. FEAR did something similar to this. Frostbite 2.0 is much more in depth and uses voxels to make their buildings, which are essentially strung together models having a stress point. It's MUCH more technologically advanced seeing as it isn't just smoke and mirrors.
Seems pretty easy to implement - one particle ray for gun, one particle fontaine for debris, some smoke and polygon stones tesselated and ungrouped from wall with collision physics applied.
Should be available on Unigine soon. And Unigine runs on Linux and Andoid, something that Unreal will never be able to - its microsoft biatch.
@BrotherManiac69 UE3 (Unreal Tournament 3 Editor) will save your map off as a different file extension (.ut3 I think). UDK saves maps off as .udk
If you're using UDK at school and not UE3, then it's probably because you're not loading your package/s into the content browser before you open up your level.
1. By shooting at the wall, there are little red/orange fragments which fly away, what is that? And how did you make that?
2. The broken pieces of your wall fly very far away, farer than normal, how did you make that? And what did you change, that the broken pieces go away in time?
The rocks were vaporised, that's why there wasn't so much rubble. Or at least that could have been a good excuse :p
Again it astonishes me that people are commenting on stuff they don't know about, i can't see how anyone could think the barrels were in real time. barely half a frame a second sounds about right to me. It will be nice when we can have physics like the barrels in real time (the sun rays were particularity good).
Okay, so let me get this straight, you can process 25000 barrels at the same time with no or very little frame rate hitches, but you can't process the rubble, which is a fraction of the amount of barrels, because of performance reasons?
@zweg2 There are far more pixels to render in tiny bits of rubble than an amount of barrels like that you fucking nigger. Plus there is a limit to how much generate rubble stays in the world and how much is removed for that exact reason of performance issues. nigger.
Wouldn't it be amazing if they did another ut3 update and added multiple game styles. such as gears mode or ut2004 mode. Of course the most of all thing I'd love an update on is them putting the game in the udk engine. It needs the optimized setup so badly.
I want to see this implemented in such a way as it changes game play. For instance, being able to cut through walls to get through a level, or being able to cut a circle in the ceiling above someone, and the falling rubble damages them if not kills them. Could you do something like that?
This is amazing. I have only one qualm: after pieces of the wall have fallen to the ground, they disappear once a certain limit has been reached. In a room this small, how difficult would it be to show every piece of the wall on the ground? Just curious.
hey so you mean UDK has premade weapons of its own and you can make your own and put it in the game? plz reply because i might use this program and i am totally subscribing!
i can make static meshes fracture, but they dhow the default texture for the fractured chunks, and i can't figure out how to make it put a texture on them like yours have.

@Ashwyn97 Trying to make a game when you have very little know how is next to impossible. Sure, you could dice out a few UDK levels but nobody would take any of it seriously without first going through the proper channels of writing a design document and making a art style guide. Not to mention all the hours of research that needs to be done as well as the sound design, levels, textures, asset modeling, etc. To be completely honest, you're looking at 3 years worth of development time.
@GuruOfTheInternet That is, unless it's just a modification of an exsisting game. Regardless, anything you decide to do is going to require a lot of learning and studying. There is a process that goes into every single tiny aspect of this.
