  • Whatever they are making I want to try it

  • I sense Voxeltron in fps. :O

  • They'll never have destruction as good as Red Faction 1 (from the old ages), and that saddens & confuses me LOL.

  • nice nice :)

  • I just got to this video by typing in UT3 custom maps... then clicking one related video after another...

  • IM FIRING MY LASER!!

  • Maybe it's destroyable but you can't go through things you destroyed. It's like an invisible wall....

  • where i get Unreal Engine 3?

  • Looks Great!

  • shouldnt the room collapse if it is really fully destructable?

  • @danboe2009

Description says "allows for full destructible environments", not that this environment is particularly fully destructible.

  • red faction?

  • DICE thinks there so good making battlefield with destructible enviroments, but it aint so good compared to this

  • @samm565 This isn't even that great of a thing. It isn't really destroying the environment, it's creating an illusion using voxels and bumpmapping. FEAR did something similar to this. Frostbite 2.0 is much more in depth and uses voxels to make their buildings, which are essentially strung together models having a stress point. It's MUCH more technologically advanced seeing as it isn't just smoke and mirrors.

  • Can u completely breaka hole in the wall

  • @BrotherManiac69 ahh i see,, you wish to impress ur firends :D

  • @toy741life You figured me out! :) lol

  • @dracothejoker ye lol...caz i tried it too. and failed.... majourly.

I got my coumputer hanged, and for somereason smoke came out of it.

    so...ye true story :P

  • Would this type of thing be possible in a Kismet cinematic? Or would you actually have to be in game to have the destrucible environments?

  • hey guys can i install the game when i make it and how??? pls respond!!! :D

  • hey guys can i install the game when i make and how??? pls respond!!! :D

  • @BrotherManiac69 You learn UDK at school!?

    Lucky git

  • @BrotherManiac69

That or you guys are using the Unreal 3 Editor instead of the UDK.

  • Elude, could you give me a download / tutorial please?

  • How can you make something such as a crate be movable when you touch it?

  • @HyperHeritic If I get what your asking, you would use a rigid body insted of a static mesh

  • @291Halo Ah ok. I tried that and it moves when I shoot at it but the character can not push it around. =/

  • Seems pretty easy to implement - one particle ray for gun, one particle fontaine for debris, some smoke and polygon stones tesselated and ungrouped from wall with collision physics applied.

Should be available on Unigine soon. And Unigine runs on Linux and Andoid, something that Unreal will never be able to - its microsoft biatch.

  • @BrotherManiac69 UE3 (Unreal Tournament 3 Editor) will save your map off as a different file extension (.ut3 I think). UDK saves maps off as .udk

If you're using UDK at school and not UE3, then it's probably because you're not loading your package/s into the content browser before you open up your level.

    Hope this helps.

  • this is the first unreal engine video i have EVER SEEN EVER AND MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR

  • i dont like how the rocks disappear

  • a new form of vandalism is born!

  • I WISH my school computers could run this. Instead we're running on 1GB of RAM and a whole lot of crashing.

  • @BrotherManiac69 You may have different versions of the UDK installed from your home to your school that break this compatibility.

  • would it be possible to make the bits smaller and thinner to simulate wood?

  • @xSBxUltrax Yes as far as I know the limit to the amount of fractured pieces you can generate can be rather high.

  • dis might be dumb question but is it possible if u can put ur test map up for download so i can mess around in it? plzz?

  • @adil11223344 I'm afraid I don't have the map anymore, I lost it when removing older UDK builds.

  • is the fracture points randomly arranged or are they placed the same way every time.

  • @Dskater101 They are randomly arranged but you can edit them slightly if you wish for only certain parts of a mesh to break off.

  • more dust then your in goal

  • How much more work is that to make a destructible wall as opposed to just a normal wall?

  • @kennyb010 takes about another 2 minutes to make and complete

  • @kennyb010 Big enough difference.

  • @Elude87 and thats why call of duty doesnt have destructable inviroment- too much work, however Electronic Arts can be bothered

  • @higorfelipe97 can u use udk on a tm2 tuch smart laptop?

  • @1202DarkShadow sorry i cant answer that im not really into the 'touch' technology, still look into a bit more.

  • @kennyb010 2 buttons. No extra work really.

  • this game will be the next minecraft :)

  • How did you do that?

  • how do you make the rumble fly? right now, mine just fall off, like it was chipped with a chisel

  • Does it use hardware accelerated physics? Or is it running in sofware mode?

  • I have two questions for you:

    1. By shooting at the wall, there are little red/orange fragments which fly away, what is that? And how did you make that?

    2. The broken pieces of your wall fly very far away, farer than normal, how did you make that? And what did you change, that the broken pieces go away in time?

    Thank you.

  • how far can it dig into the wall? as wide as you made it im guessing?

  • OMG... im a prtty bid newb with UDK bud this looks even better than in some games! It makes you feel that weapon is more deadly... AWESOME!

  • Is this in a package?

  • You must not have a Nvidia / PhysX GPU or Card. Right?

  • The rocks were vaporised, that's why there wasn't so much rubble. Or at least that could have been a good excuse :p

Again it astonishes me that people are commenting on stuff they don't know about, i can't see how anyone could think the barrels were in real time. barely half a frame a second sounds about right to me. It will be nice when we can have physics like the barrels in real time (the sun rays were particularity good).

Keep up the good work :)

  • I dunno, the burning hot red chunks still need some work. they look really bad :(

  • broken pieces could look more realistic

  • It could be a tad bit better.

  • Woooow, this is frikkin' cool! Is this included in the May release of UDK?

  • why doesnt holes get created when explosions go off on the ground

  • why do all the fallen parts disappear

  • @adam8871 Because I made them to, for performance reasons.

  • @Elude87

Okay, so let me get this straight, you can process 25000 barrels at the same time with no or very little frame rate hitches, but you can't process the rubble, which is a fraction of the amount of barrels, because of performance reasons?

    Can you please elaborate?? :P

  • @zweg2 My barrels are not rendered in realtime, during the process of recording that video I was getting around .4 fps.

  • @Elude87

Ooooh, okay :D thanks for clearing that up for me :)

  • @zweg2 There are far more pixels to render in tiny bits of rubble than an amount of barrels like that you fucking nigger. Plus there is a limit to how much generate rubble stays in the world and how much is removed for that exact reason of performance issues. nigger.

  • Wouldn't it be amazing if they did another ut3 update and added multiple game styles. such as gears mode or ut2004 mode. Of course the most of all thing I'd love an update on is them putting the game in the udk engine. It needs the optimized setup so badly.

  • I want to see this implemented in such a way as it changes game play. For instance, being able to cut through walls to get through a level, or being able to cut a circle in the ceiling above someone, and the falling rubble damages them if not kills them. Could you do something like that?

  • Suck it, Frostbite.

  • This is amazing. I have only one qualm: after pieces of the wall have fallen to the ground, they disappear once a certain limit has been reached. In a room this small, how difficult would it be to show every piece of the wall on the ground? Just curious.

  • swwwiiissss cheeeeese.

  • Reminds me of the original Red Faction for some reason = P

  • that's sick imagine if unreal tournamnet 3 was like that haha

  • I. love. You.

  • When I try to make breakable walls it turns out wrong.

When I fire the laser at it just one fragment breaks off, The wall falls down and you can walk through it.

    Any ideas?

  • Guess you could say that you left your mark... ... lol. :)

  • looks like the gmod in red faction 1. needs refinement.

  • Holy shit i want your graphics card. NOW!

  • what game is tis?

  • @Blessthefall245 not a game its a game enigine...Ie game making

  • Very Nice!

  • very nice

  • Dont know what to tell you if adding a fragment destroyed effect doesnt work for you, because thats exactly what I did for this video.

  • Comment removed

  • how could you get the particle effects???

  • almost like battlefield badcompany! =)

  • how to you get ue3 ? is it a add on to udk , if it is where do you download it ?

  • Unreal Engine 3.

  • @oOToXSiiCkOo

UE3 is Unreal Engine 3, god damn it.

  • calm down i got it after gtawarfox's msg , im a noob when it comes to udk , GOD DAMN IT

  • UDK is UE3 its just a user friendly version for the public.

  • oh rite thanks :)

  • No problem :)

  • fun! good job man.

  • soo nice. Love the sparks

  • How to?

  • Comment removed

  • hey so you mean UDK has premade weapons of its own and you can make your own and put it in the game? plz reply because i might use this program and i am totally subscribing!

  • @Nereonso Yes they have pre made weps

I cant use UDK cuz my Grafics card)=

  • i can make static meshes fracture, but they dhow the default texture for the fractured chunks, and i can't figure out how to make it put a texture on them like yours have.

  • owk. tutorial .get...

    for the complete thing.

the fractre tool is awesome but you did some extra stuff. great vid man!

  • Im curious as to how you made the particles emit when hitting a fracture mesh?

  • Great work!! reminds me of the Dice Frostbite engine in BFBC2

  • what graphics card r u using in this video and how many frames is that running on and i noticed that when the beam from the gun hits the wall it doesnt looks like like the beam just ends right before it hits the wall i dont even know how to use the udk yet but i'm just letting u know from a very picky pc gamers perspective and keep on making things look that good man awesome job

  • My graphics processor is a4870 1 gig ATi card, and I was capturing at about 60 fps although I think youtube dumbs the video down to 29.97.

The beam does go slightly through the wall :(.

  • Wow, how'd you get the level looking so nice?

  • @cb2198 With color correction in post processing settings.

  • @Elude87 but its pretty awesome

i really want to get into game making and im currently downloading the udk program....

so if anybody wants to waste their time tryin to make a game feel free to pm me....

  • @Ashwyn97 Trying to make a game when you have very little know how is next to impossible. Sure, you could dice out a few UDK levels but nobody would take any of it seriously without first going through the proper channels of writing a design document and making a art style guide. Not to mention all the hours of research that needs to be done as well as the sound design, levels, textures, asset modeling, etc. To be completely honest, you're looking at 3 years worth of development time.

  • @GuruOfTheInternet That is, unless it's just a modification of an exsisting game. Regardless, anything you decide to do is going to require a lot of learning and studying. There is a process that goes into every single tiny aspect of this.

  • @GuruOfTheInternet im just 13 and i have been doing great with this. if you are just trying to make something fun it doesnt take that long if you use this. have you made anything using this

  • dude i dont know how u did it but bravo to u man great job that looks amazing

  • ya I downloaded it and made a small (nothing special) map. and it crashed my laptop. that will be the last time I run a program that requires 2.0 Ghz when mine only runs at 1.7Ghz

  • @ThumbsDown112

Im runnng a ULV 1.3Ghz Celeron 743 with a 4500 and it works just great

  • well ya but mine is a laptop not a tower

  • How did you get the inside of the chuncks textured?

  • @Assassinsfreak

LODinfo of the fractured staticmesh you can find the inner materials

  • ceiling? floor?

  • No unfortuantly I did not add any destructble meshes to the floor or ceiling although I could have.

  • would be fun to have two floors so you can shoot a circle around yourself and fall to the bottom floor :)

  • @TiagoTiagoT Weren't you able to do that in Red Faction (original)??

  • @Badco99 I don't have that one

  • @TiagoTiagoT

there is another video of another guy called raven67854 that does something like that its called Unreal Development Kit Fracture Test - UDK

  • @TiagoTiagoT that myth has been busted XD.

  • how did you get the motionblur so good ?

  • With a little trick not possible to do ingame, I tried adding motion blur to the level but it just wasnt cutting it for me, it needed something better.

So I decided to throw it on through video editing using an Adobe After Effects plugin called real smart motion blur(RSMB)

  • oke tnx i thought omg how did he get the motion blur so good through UDK :P

  • It's possible ingame, it just doesn't work properly :S

  • You used high Motion Blur Settings, didn't you?

  • this must be one heavy duty pc

  • U3 seems to be surprisingly light on system requirements.

  • Very nice.

Is the video direct footage from in engine?

It's incredibly smooth and nice looking. :P

If its direct footage what tools did you use to make the video?

  • Yes its direct footage from the game, I used Fraps, After Effects, and MeGUI.

  • hey, i was just messing around fracture destruction in udk and i was wondering how you got the chunks to have a material on the sides instead of the default udk one

  • It uses a second material slot in the properties of the mesh.

Just assign the second material slot to the material you want, if it doesnt have a second slot then make one by pressing the green arrow..

  • nice post processing

  • The Fracture tool in this isnt designed to do over the top pointless destructable physics on everything, it's just for that extra touch up to add to the immersion on a small scale.

So you guys can stop comparing to redfaction as no one argued this was better at what it displays...

  • red faction compared to this in physics 1000x

  • 0.5/5

    red faction > this

  • 1/5 for steve
