This is the perfect repertory and the perfect conductor for Richter at the stage in his life when this was recorded. At his best Richter is Everything you could imagine, and a lot more. And this (along with some Scriabin recordings) are, in my opinion, Richter at his very, very best. Incredible momentum, beautiful combination of clarity and perfect legato, and more relaxed intensity than usual with Richter. He really was on the far edge of humanity. To think that this is a human playing!!!!
