Looks like 1950s TV doesn't it? That's third-world TV of the time. Colour TV only came to the UK in 1969. Ali not only fought everyone, but everywhere, I think 13 countries in total (the only continents he missed where S. America, Australia and Antarctica, lol). Nobody, and I mean nobody, did as much for the sport, making it of interest to anyone in the world who could get near a radio. The sport was dying when he emerged; now it's dying again. Most of the fights fans cry out for never happen.
no this was after he won the rematch with norton, and he defeated frazier in their 2nd fight in january of '74. He beat norton on sept 10, 1973. This fight was in Oct 1973.
Ali sandwiched this fight in between his close rematch victories over Ken Norton and Joe Frazier. As I recall, he was having problems with his hands, especially his right. Ferdie Pacheco would inject cortisone into Ali's knuckles. He uses his right sparingly in this fight.
I remember watching this on Wide World of Sports. Saturday afternoon in October of '73. Ali did a quick intro for the show, saying "don't panic--this is coming to you from Jakarta, Indo-NEEE-sia in black and white. It's not color, so your sets are okay." Anybody have that on tape?
Who is that clown...Ali is beatin the hell out of????

funny how, when the opponent is not good enough, we're back in the 60's as far as the film quality is concerned

Although I'm Dutch, Ali was my favorite in this fight. Come to think of it, all the other fights as well.

I've been al my life a boxing fan. This was the first I ever saw! I'm a Dutchman and so was Rudie Lubbers. That's why.
Never saw it again. Thanx!
