Drupad is a total farce... he just wants a crack at Drona. Shikhandi, Dhrista-creep, et al were born to him because they were all after someone's blood.
Krishna's purpose was allegedly to purge the kshatriyas once again (ref: Parashurama), and he largely saw this as a foregone conclusion. The 'peace talks' were a PR move. Had the other camp actually pursued peace, Krishna would have found another way to destroy all of them.

well i think that even though krishna KNEW that the war was inevitable, i think he was trying to see how far or how much they could go WITHOUT war.......but.........he has his own reasons--it is impossible to understand god!!!
he encouraged pandavs to fight because,it was their right which duryodhan had deprived them of,it was dharma yudh. krishna is god,he tells this to arjun in the bhagvad gita when arjun surrenders unto him. when rishna comes down on earth he comes to teach us how to live our lives,that is why he acts like an ordinary person,but he is not ordinary. he allows yashoda to scold him and sometimes punish him,because she is his mother but at the same time kills demons when still a baby.
Krishna talks of peace knowing it will be war, is that the Lila of God? I really don't understand the acting of Lord Krishna in the whole Mahabharata. They can tell me that God will is not under judgment, but once Krishna decided to born as man, Himself is under men judment.
@mauricello he talks of peace irrespective of knowing full well that war is inevitable, because, he does not want anyone to point the finger at the pandavs and say that they started the war. he wants it to be known that the pandavs tried everything and war was the absolute last resort for them. that way, history will not be able to blame the pandavs for the war.
So beautiful to see Sri Krishna, which his ever refreshing words and smile... thanks a lot for uploading these gems, which bring our minds back to where we should be.
