  • how did you get all this stuff its cool

  • ditto i`ve got hundreds never heard this? thx for posting !

  • I thought I had every sone they did- I love this- is it off an album- Thanks for sharing!

  • The Beach Boys forever

  • Dear BeachBoys4rever

Well....the first song we did...Wich Stand...sounded so much like the BB that in a meeting at Capitol Records we played the acetate and they turned it down flat..said it sounded too much like BB.. they were right it did..so Brian wrote Pamela Jean.. we went back in the studio and Capitol took that one...In 64 Capitol signed the Beatles and that means money for PR etc and they dropped all groups not that popular..we (Survivors) werent the only group they dropped.......

  • @leftseatmusic Dave, thanks so much for the personal reply and insights into the song and the group. It means the world to me!

  • really??? all these years i thought no one wrote a song with my name in it...and my 1st AND middle name is here! sick....i don't think my parents will admit it...but i bet this is where my name came from! luv it!

  • This is the cleanest transcription of this recording I've ever heard. I have the original single (yes, I actually BOUGHT it!!!) and several reissues on CDs, but this is the best. Glad the story of the "band" has been cleared up here. I also thought (and so we were told back in 1964) that this was the Beach Boys under an assumed name.

  • This is the SAME EXACT (song) melody and harmony as "Car Crazy Cutie" also by the Beach Boys....check it out.

  • Sorry, but this is not the Beachboys..its The Survivors, a group comprised of Brian, Dave Nowlen, Bob Norberg and Rich Alarian, released in 1964. Written by Brian and sung by the above members it was their only Captiol Records release..well documented on Google. All members are still doing well and just had a reunion in LA in June 2009..

  • This is (obviously) an outtake, but despite that it's a good song. The only problem was the timing of the release. This single was released within a few days of the first Capitol Beatles single and this song got...buried..., for lack of a better term.

  • Thanks John..we had a good time back then, Brian helped me alot and proud to say we are still friends after...lets see.....45 years... ouch.....anyway, we're still alive and both still doing music.Once I was backstage with Brian and McCartney at the Greek Theatre in LA and was going to joke with Paul about ruining our career...but thought better of it..all has turned out for the best... Dave Nowlen.

  • Thank YOU, Dave! And thanks for being part of a great section of Musical Heritage! :) It's great that you are all able to stay in touch after all those years. I still have problems tracking down classmates from THIRTY years ago. lol

  • @leftseatmusic1 Dave, I always loved this song and The Survivors. With all due respect to my all-time favorite band, "Pamela Jean" blows away "Car Crazy Cutie" in my humble opinion. I assume that you guys didn't record more songs because of Brian's Beach Boys' obligations. If you could be so kind to explain why no other singles were recorded, I would be very appreciative.

  • same song as car crazy cutie

  • yup, almost better!!
