I started playing Starcraft before I got into 40k and then Dawn of War... I initially thought Dawn of War was the rip off but its quite the opposite... I think Blizzard and Starcraft should pay tribute to the Warhammer 40k franchise for the ideas it provided them with.

One thing I don't understand is why they charge the Ork's instead of maintaining their ground and opening up with volleys of bolter fire. What makes even less sense is the heavy-bolter wielder charging forward instead of providing covering fire for the charge. Anyway, still one of the best intros I've ever seen, especially as I love Warhammer 40k

Plus years of mind-washing and stuff breaks them down to the point where they just do stupid stuff like that, 'cause it looks heroic... probably hoping that a servo-skull with a 40k-WebCam is recording the whole thing to show everyone, just how great and awesome they are. +irony-mode off+

Anyone with a basic 40k knowledge knows that orks can't shoot for sh*t but they are a potent enemy in melee.

I always figured they assaulted the orks because the orcs had some kind of artillery zeroed on the marines' position that is capable of one-shotting a Predator. Must be some Forgeworld stuff, I don't see anything like that in the Orks' Codex.

And that's why they call this kind of vid "action filled, dramatic, sad and excitement mixed media". If real time warfare tactics were shown in this vid, it would've been 10-12 min long (which would've been awasome) and you would see more "tactical deaths" than civil war like run-towards-enemy-while-shoot techniques.

Aside from the obvious corny combat, this vid is a good one.

This scene was sort of like the scene from Saving Private Ryan on Omaha Beach if you really think about it. I got chills when the general yelled out "FORWARD!" and then all of the space marines just ran up the hill and started hand-to-hand combat with the orcs. To the fools speaking about tactics; Yes that is the most foolish thing to do, engage orcs in melee combat. The whole point of the space marines charging was to make the video exciting. It would be dull if they just sat there in the crater and let the dreadnaught take the orcs out or w/e. It's a great game, esp. online, but considering how rich the TT universe is it could be so much better! I'm waiting for a copy of DC, hoping the campaign/story elements won't be as crappy this time around. Blizzard stole a lot from WH40K in makiing SC, but the balancing in that game is something else. Too bad people only played 1-2 maps with either rushing or mucho money style gameplay..

DAMN STRAIGHT! This game completely rapes any other RTS' to current date. I actually thought Warcraft 3 was pretty good until I played this. This game even owns the famous Starcraft by FAR.

When me and my best friend saw this intro for the first time that's pretty much what sold the game to us :D lol. Wouldn't change a single thing about DoW.
