These machines are stupid. The are slow, 20 seconds int his machine compared to milliseconds in a metal detector. I have a 9 inch coc* and while at the airport I had to go through the xray screener and then they made me drop my pants to verify the goods was real! The guy that checked me and all looked gay, walked gay, and talked gay very feminine man! This has got to stop TSA has gone to far!

I'm going to Ireland for an exchange program and the only time I can go is 2 days after Christmas because I need to be there on the 28th in time for orientation. This is crap. If the naked body scanners are nothing than a trick to intimidate people and prevent them from flying then it already works. I never fly with a plane if I know that I have to go through a naked body scanner before or after. No compromise. So the only ones who really are gonna suffer from such security measures will be the airports and airlines themselves who will lose more and more customers. This means bad times for airlines business, I guess.

The machines have multiple (3 front 3 rear in dual rapiscan systems) x-ray sources at the groin level yes, the tissue closer gets a larger dose. If the naked body scanners are nothing than a trick to intimidate people and prevent them from flying then it already works. I never fly with a plane if I know that I have to go through a naked body scanner before or after. No compromise. So the only ones who really are gonna suffer from such security measures will be the airports and airlines themselves who will lose more and more customers. This means bad times for airlines business, I guess.

I agree, stop flying at all costs. Both the scanners and the pat downs are completely unnecessary and serious invasions of privacy. We as citizens have every right to demand our privacy for whatever reason. On top of that, no terror plot has ever been foiled by the TSA at airport security, ever. It has always been through intelligence in the FBI, CIA or other agency. There are smarter ways to take car of this.

The machines have multiple (3 front 3 rear in dual rapiscan systems) x-ray sources at the groin level yes, the tissue closer gets a larger dose. The x-rays can be as high as 150KVp stronger than a CT machine (125KVp) a few bounce off most are absorbed deep in the body scramble DNA and mess up cells. Curcumstances? Such as? Do you really believe Franklin had no idea what it was like to live under the rule of the totalitarian society our apathy has created for us? I don't think so. This equipment was specifically designed to save and transmit images. Kair knew that when he gave his speech. TSA wanted that capability to grease the legal system. They put it in the RFP. They sent the RFP out for bids, and then they PURCHASED IT with no thought of our rights, using OUR hard-earned tax dollars.

@BruinsFan731 The circumstances and conditions that were present when that statement was made were much different. Not to mention, mass transit air travel didn't exist back then either. I don't think Ben Franklin would use that statement for what's going on here.

i would rather take the risk to fly with terrorist which has the probability of practically zero... you have higher risk to exposure to dangerous radioactive and get cancer in your testicles.. think about it, its 20mins of unknown level of dangerous radioactive radiation on you...

@luisloks you really think all cancer is curable? News flash, it's not. about 565,650 Americans died of cancer in 2008. Cancer is the second most common killer of Americans behind only heart disease. And no it's not a remote risk because radiation exposure is cumulative. Every time you have an x-ray at the dentist or doctor's you are one step closer to having radiation caused problems.
