did you really stop in the road just to film it falling? So your one of the douchbags that causes traffic jams driving past something like this. Pull off the road next time.
@Intrabeldin Read the description, asshole. I was at a red light, and the horns were from cars in front of me. The person at the LIGHT was the one who stopped to look. I was just lucky enough to be caught in the jam just long enough to film it.
GWEN TOWER= high voltage . Seems like these things grow out of the ground overnight here in NJ. They keep adding more and more transmitters to the point where they start to look like something that TESLA created, "HINT". Cell tower yeah right, then I should have uniterupted service with these every 1/2 mile or so. There is more to these things then meets the eye. Do some research and HAVE A HAARPIE DAY
@sydneyhope Yeah? Well wait until you need to make a cell call and have no signal. It's funny how the same people who complain about cell towers also bitch about poor signal coverage.
@nakayle We have overkill on cell towers in our town. I miss the days of bad coverage, I'm not attached to my cell phone. I just wish they would put the towers next to those people that dont care, since they are probably the ones that overkill the use of their cell phones anyway. I'm sure you wont be saying this in 5 years... ha Keep using that cell phone next to your ear... ha
@sydneyhope You want coverage you have two options: Higher power from the handset (next to your skull), or more towers to send and receive a users signals at a lower power. At any rate, most traffic is now text and other forms of data, not voice.
Yes they were welding at the bottom while it was receiving, and in returning signal, the main trannys at the top of the tower took in the amps from the welders, thus creating several arcs..which caused the fire..both ends melted
Did you really had to go and cut down the cell tower with ur purple laser sword? I mean really, thats just evil. No kidding, i just had to joke about it..Hope no one got hurt when the tower fell =/
sounds like they should of did some forging to the steel before it left the factory, that or filled it with concrete or something to keep it stable during installation.
I responded to a fire like this several years ago. Workmen were welding at the top, and a bird nest in the tower caught fire and fell inside , setting the insulated cable on fire. We were able to extinguish the fire befor the tower collapsed, though.
there are massive amounts of plastic jacketed cables inside of those monopoles...once a fire has been started it would get really hot really fast...and yes weaken the structure
@theCosmicQueen They were welding at the base of the tower, and somehow managed to catch it on fire. The fire must have weakened the structure or something, I dunno ^^;
this video begs the question...If a cell tower falls in Wellesley and nobody hears it, does it still make a noise? Hopefully there weren't any injuries resulting from this rare structural failure. At the end of the day, cell phones and cell towers save lives through improved E911 service 24-7-365.
I performed at Harvard a thorough, quantitative bioeffects literature review, demonstrating the pronounced, often short-term effects - esp. neurologic - of microwave radiation. Result: In 6/97, >100 Boston health scientists called a halt to the PCS system in a petition they signed *with their affiliations*. Their careers went on the line to stop this horrific but extremely wealthy industry. FCC allows a million x more radiation, even w/o ever using a phone, than protective scientists recommend.
Incorrect, yubastardus. Yes, little awareness of bioeffects in your Puerto Rico; but in the NE US, professors are speaking on Capitol Hill. Your lack of knowledge is revealed in your thinking that cell towers broadcast at 60 Hz. PCS broadcasts at frequencies almost a billion x higher! 60 Hz (extreme low freq) is vastly different than 2 GHz (ultra high freq). You are unaware of health scientists' warnings re both. Microwave wireless systems devastate bit-by-bit all organisms on earth's surface.
I'm not versed in physics, so, I'm going to ask: What about a Faraday's cage? (if that isn't the correct name, sorry) Would it help, or it just helps with voltaic arcs? (Like, what about using metalic mesh behind wallpaper or even in bricks)
And, is it the same living on a big city than close to it? (I mean, is there any place safe?)
Im sorry I called you an idiot. That said, I never even suggested that towers broadcast at 60Hz, I said powerlines and electrical transformers! Licensed GHz frequencies, while more energetic, have litle interference. Only a few watts are needed for broadcasting in all directions, so only a tiny fraction of that reaches you in a given time. Now, you're saying MW as in megawatt? Such amount of power might burn everything to the ground, including buildings and cars, but I think that's not the case.
Wellesley was one of the few Boston suburb municipalities that accepted cell towers without question. Not even a reference to the radiofrequency radiation bioeffects science in their town meetings, despite the presence of its world-famous, Ivy-league college. Would that this were revenge for all the humans, animals, plants that suffered from excessive dosages of cell tower radiation resulting from a lack of mental or moral fortitude in the Town Selectmen and their foolish, greedy lawyer buddies.
you idiot, you don't know what you're talking about. It has been demonstrated that low power transmitters operating at very high frequencies have a negligible effect on life around it, as such antennas need a small amount of power to transmit data, as mandated by the FCC. Also, they are raised, so even if they caused something, it ain't happening unless you're up there with the antenna.
No, yubastardus. I performed at Harvard a thorough, quantitative bioeffects literature review, demonstrating the pronounced, often short-term effects - esp. neurologic - of 1.8-2.0GHz MW radiation. Result: In 6/97, >100 Boston health scientists called a halt to the PCS system in a petition they signed *with their affiliations*. Their careers went on the line to stop this horrific but extremely wealthy industry. FCC allows a million x more radiation than the most protective scientists recommend.
Now, you go on and talk all you want about powerlines and electrical transformers. Electromagnetism at those frequencies (60 Hz, or radio frequencies) have been proven to cause cancer. You don't see anybody complaining about the placement of powerlines.
I know the tower fell onto the power lines, but I didn't see any sparks from this angle. Did you see anything when it crashed? Or did you leave before this happened?

Is this true??? I mean, it is a paranoia of many, already. but it's confirmed that it causes severe damages?
damn FCC!
how's it that a device should not cause harmful interference to another device but it's harming lifeforms!?
aiklarung 2 years ago
The scientific literature is very clear - as is even corrupt FCC - that this (pulse-modulated microwave) radiation is hazardous.
-On the medical device interference that claimed >10,000 American lives, see the Howard Bassen PhD (of FDA) 1997 peer-reviewed paper on the subject.
-I for one will not own any wireless device; but must be unwillingly subjected like every other living creature to 24-7 exposure.
-Wireless is the most energy-wasteful industry on the planet by far.
