I LOVE THAT THEY WERE CALLED THE JOHNNY BURNETTE TRIO, WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY JOHNNY BURNETTE AND THE NASHVILLE A-TEAM. GRADY MARTIN OF COARSE THE MASTER OF THE WHOLE THING, AND ONE OF THE PIONEERS OF THE ORIGINAL ROCKABILLY GUITAR/SOUND. ALONG WITH CLIFF GALLUP AND SCOTTY MOORE.
@dru42or3 That is so interesting. I knew Grady Martin was part of the mix, but I didn't know Cliff Gallup and Scotty Moore were too. Do you know what songs Moore and Gallup were involved with?
@jimhoerr I meant that Grady Martin was part of the original rockabilly sound, just as Cliff Gallup and Scotty Moore. Cliff and Scotty were obviously not involved with the JB trio recordings. They were with Gene Vincent and Elvis. It's the three of them that created that Rockabilly guitar sound though
@66fredo99 - yeah, Setzer has done a lot w/Burnette songs and then corrected it later in live and/or remake versions. What I wanna know though is, are the lyrics "AND YOUR PROMISE and LIES" or "and your promisES and lies" ??? The latter is what all the stupid online lyric websites say, but you really can't trust them. I hear it just like you do: "Promise and lies" or maybe even "promis'n' lies" (meaning promising lies). I wish I could find an official Burnette website with lyrics.
I've got the JOHNNY BURNETTE'S box-set (9 CD's !!!)
edited by bear family . It contains unrealesad tracks , demos made by Johnny & Dorsey , with Eddie Cochran on guitar !!!
And a beautiful hard-cover book of 130 pages !!!
FANTASTIC !!!!!
