John Wayne is the Duke but he did not play just cowboys and was not the King of the Saturday Afternoon Matinee Cowboys. There was William S. Hart of the silent era as well as Hopalong Cassiday, Gene Autry and Roy Roger along with Tom Mix and others kept the cowboy spirit going in the movies as well the Duke and this was dedicated to the Saturday Matinee Heroes.. John Wayne deserves a dedication of his own for his diverse roles........
@wagadman The Duke paid his dues as a 'B'-Movie cowboy.. He belongs, right here, too.. This was before he got his big break, in 'STAGECOACH', as you know, already.. But, it was here, where the Duke got his start..
Just so you really know is that John Wayne is truly the Duke and is even a far much better actor than Roy Rogers and Gene Autry as I think John Wayne is truly the real Duke and is #1 and top of the line and is even far much better and a lot more popular than Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, do you really agree and understand? Say that "The Duke" is even the greatest cowboy of them all and John Wayne was really popula and is much better than Gene Autry and Roy Rogers, do you really agree?
@COWBOYMACLEOD One has to remember that the B-movie cowboys fitted in a niche, and they were the center of the picture.. After 'STAGECOACH', the Duke had moved on to bigger films.. You really can't and shouldn't compare Gene Autry and John Wayne. Gene Autry played himself, and none other.. Also, B-westerns were 'formula' pictures, where they nearly all had the same plot, and that's how their audiences wanted them.. The Duke, he just moved on to bigger and better things..
