I thought up some interesting ideas we could do with the upcoming technology of lets say 2060. Take a sphere of cameras all facing toward the centre of the sphere and with cameras on top of those cameras facing out of the camera (like a flys eye) but of course within the inner directions too then record. Have as many spheres as you want, maybe spheres making up a bigger sphere
then turn this info digital, with neurotech have chips on the subjects brain and let this info enter their brain.
The web this, the web that, apparently most people dont realize that "the web" is just a frontend to the internet. The internet is alot more intricate and complex than people realize. If anything "the web" is a very minor, albeit very loud part of the internet. As a person who was raised when the internet was pioneering, I understand all its complexity and consider the way people use it nowadays to be rather poor. Shopping? News site? Warez? All very poor uses of a great tool.

This is a bad introduction. Africa has not adapted the web in the PC based way that's shown. Take Kenya. They have no internet infrastructure, so mobile tech is the big thing for them. Parents in villages use SMS to talk to kids at school. Also, the web has swept up SOME of the world. There remain vast pockets of subsistence lifestyles where there's no internet at all, such as India and Asia.
No good points were made about the good parts of social networking sites only stupid points like I got rid of ten of my friends on facebook for a free burger. Pity the show with such a good start ended up going off the rails, typicaly Baised maybe typicaly BBC ?
Watched the last episode and was very dissapointed, what started as an interesting concept for this show got bogged down with Biased and one sided claptrap. The part on social networking sites annoyed me a great deal, northing positive was pointed out about sites like Facebook, only negative points. I dont know why Aleks Krotoski has taken such a negative view of certian parts of the net, here is a Women that part hosted a show called BITS on channel 4 reviewing video games?
The web truly is a great blessing. It is history's most powerful tool, with all the inherent gifts and dnagers that that entails.
To the BBC: You consistently produced the world's best, most intriguing and well produced documentaries. Thank you for your commitment to excellence. And thank God you exist. I can't wait to watch this documentary.
You're right. I should have replied to your moronic question with the following instead: (In response to "what about me?") What about you? You should consider sticking your head back up your ass." I should have been more direct to begin with instead of playing along with your stupidity. My bad.
jesus.. can we fuckin stop talkin about africa alrady? who gives a shit, they are doomed people, why do we have to bend over backwards for primitives incapable of helping themselves.. and ironically always need the aid of the evil "white men"
when next week? Youtube pwns TV, downloaded tv pwns regular tv, and iPlayer on xbox 360 is needed why didnt you agree to let it be available for Gold members get with the program.
Song? :D

Great consept for a series.

Doesn't seem to mention anything about Virtual Worlds which is effectively us crawling inside the web. :)
sjatkins 2 years ago
Hope the documentary will mention that
the web was not made for what it is used today! Proof is shown in the rapid exhaustion of IPv4 address space, despite conservation techniques!
And the web is controlled by the Internet Engineering Task Force...
