  • Song? :D

  • I thought up some interesting ideas we could do with the upcoming technology of lets say 2060. Take a sphere of cameras all facing toward the centre of the sphere and with cameras on top of those cameras facing out of the camera (like a flys eye) but of course within the inner directions too then record. Have as many spheres as you want, maybe spheres making up a bigger sphere

then turn this info digital, with neurotech have chips on the subjects brain and let this info enter their brain.

  • @deanmullen10 All you miss is insanity of Steve Jobs to make it true.. Sign me up if you see progress.

  • Does this only go up to Episode 4 Part 6 or are there more?

  • The web this, the web that, apparently most people dont realize that "the web" is just a frontend to the internet. The internet is alot more intricate and complex than people realize. If anything "the web" is a very minor, albeit very loud part of the internet. As a person who was raised when the internet was pioneering, I understand all its complexity and consider the way people use it nowadays to be rather poor. Shopping? News site? Warez? All very poor uses of a great tool.

  • @muhkr man let's start a business together

  • woa!!! beautiful landscape !!!!

  • Idiot, she gave that man credit for inventing the internet. IT WASN'T JUST ONE PERSON!

  • She did not gave Tim Berners-Lee credit for Inventing Internet, She gave credit for inventing WEB. Program focuses on WEB (a part of Internet) 0:40 Sec

  • yey interwebs

  • damed it's so unfair that their isn't bbc hd outside of the UK, it's such a outstanding network i want to have it so bad :(

  • Who was that guy talking right before Al Gore?

  • @Wannaweep11 It's the Woz (Steve Wozniak), co-founder of Apple.

  • aweomse! im gonna download it :D

  • This is a bad introduction. Africa has not adapted the web in the PC based way that's shown. Take Kenya. They have no internet infrastructure, so mobile tech is the big thing for them. Parents in villages use SMS to talk to kids at school. Also, the web has swept up SOME of the world. There remain vast pockets of subsistence lifestyles where there's no internet at all, such as India and Asia.

  • No good points were made about the good parts of social networking sites only stupid points like I got rid of ten of my friends on facebook for a free burger. Pity the show with such a good start ended up going off the rails, typicaly Baised maybe typicaly BBC ?

  • Watched the last episode and was very dissapointed, what started as an interesting concept for this show got bogged down with Biased and one sided claptrap. The part on social networking sites annoyed me a great deal, northing positive was pointed out about sites like Facebook, only negative points. I dont know why Aleks Krotoski has taken such a negative view of certian parts of the net, here is a Women that part hosted a show called BITS on channel 4 reviewing video games?

  • amaaaaaaaaazing!

  • You spelled concept wrong.

  • And this is now on my "To watch" list.

    Great consept for a series.

  • Doesn't seem to mention anything about Virtual Worlds which is effectively us crawling inside the web. :)

  • Hope the documentary will mention that

the web was not made for what it is used today! Proof is shown in the rapid exhaustion of IPv4 address space, despite conservation techniques!

And the web is controlled by the Internet Engineering Task Force...

  • don't be a fucking mong.

  • @PhilAEG Answer, IPV6. It is just strings of bits. Make the string longer. Not rocket science.

  • Check the documentary " Triumph of the Nerds " which was a really good series by Bob Cringely!

  • This looks like it's gonna be frikkin awesome! Haven't seen anything else like it to date.

One question tho, how've they managed to get all of those cyber-celeb peeps into the series...?

  • Because its the BBC perhaps?

  • looking forward - will probably download but eager to watch. I am sure its as good as any other BBC videos.

  • Looks like a very cool show...!

  • OMG the Woz!?! Shit I thought he was dead... (figuratively, of course). Must watch!

  • They just mess about. No R&D!

  • What's the "WEB"?

  • It`s thing for tinkerers to use that haven`t got any inventiveness.

  • nice name drop for twitter...not

wtf did twitter ever do? other than being

    a huge annoyance

  • Oh, the phenomenons humankind has made. It just gives a miraculous feeling to realize what we've achieved on this Earth.

  • I'll watch it, but fuck al shiester gore.

  • Looks good, I will probably watch it.

  • The web truly is a great blessing. It is history's most powerful tool, with all the inherent gifts and dnagers that that entails.

To the BBC: You consistently produced the world's best, most intriguing and well produced documentaries. Thank you for your commitment to excellence. And thank God you exist. I can't wait to watch this documentary.

  • What about me?

  • You're a blessing too, although your documentaries need some work...

  • Why are you fantasizing that I create documentaries?

  • Who is fantasizing?

  • You're right. I should have replied to your moronic question with the following instead: (In response to "what about me?") What about you? You should consider sticking your head back up your ass." I should have been more direct to begin with instead of playing along with your stupidity. My bad.

  • I hear that some Europeans are fighting for a cause - that broadband is a fundamental human right!

  • People like you is what is wrong with this world.

  • anyone know what the music is on this?

  • Since I live outside of the UK, I'll be harnessing the power of the "web" to download this program illegally.

  • Ammmen to that, brother!

  • @bimmerosx or try to anonymous surfing and BBc iplayer then xD

  • proxy shenanigans doesn't work on the iPlayer I've found. but if anyone has one that works, please let me know!

  • Comment removed

  • You'll be able to do it legally, bimmerosx - as a one off, they're making it available internationally.
