this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. I love Gerry Mulligan. Not just as a baritone sax player but also as a composer. The west coast guys are so great. The vibe they send through their music is what life should be. Beautiful, laid back, and relaxing.

This song is so lovely that I was inspired to write lyrics to it (among my better set of lyrics in fact). It was first performed in Pasadena, 2004 with the Steve Wilkerson Quartet + singer Andrea Baker at the dreamy lyrics I penned...I'm glad I had the show taped! Some day I hope to post it on youtube.

There's also a second version of this song on the album with Gerry playing clarinet and there's also a ten piece string orchestra and an acoustic guitar added on it.

The Starry Nights painting adds a beautiful touch with this song. Now, imagine with me that you are in a beautiful lounge setting. Lights dimmed just right, beautiful mellow jazz playing low in the backround. With only a couple of people and the bartender there is a comfortable seat just for you and a nice glass of bourbon or wine. Relax...and think of nothing but, this moment.
