Hi. According to what is written on Andreas Kopp's Male Soprano home page it is about C4 to C6 on his first CD. Radu said in an article that as a boy he could sing an octave higher.
Beautiful, sorry about my ignorance but could anybody explain me how this is possible, how could a man get a voice like that having to go through puberty?
I see now that the Discantica website has the Alia Vox, Bononcini and the Albinoni CD all available from the one website! That's what I like to see. :-)
It's great to know others feel the same way. The CD version as well is especially exquisite...purely angelic, makes me swoon (and the strings are just sumptuous). Radu seems to convey great personal satisfaction when he sings - he truly enjoys his gift. From an article I read he's a deeply spiritual man as well which would reinforce the feeling he injects into his beautiful singing.
Where'd yuou find the article? Been dying to find an interview or something where he expresses himself. Foudn one for Medina and another for Maniaci but none for Radu thusfar. Incidentally, has anyone found clips of Jorge Cano singing? He's a coloratura soprano from Colombia whose voice never broke. Can't believe there aren't soundfiles of him out there.

Radu's reminds me of the term "soprano accuto" which was used for Giovanni cesare, one of the last castrati in the Sistine Chappel. He didn't have the tesatura to belt it out like Moreschi but seems to've had a more delicate sound.

Hello. You can probably buy his Alia Vox CD from the Italian website "Discantica" and the Albinoni CD from which these tracks are taken is available at the UK Amazon website as well as elsewhere. The Bononcini CD is much harder to get...I found a used copy at the UK Amazon site by very strong intuition one morning. Just keep an eye out and you may also find a used copy. Hope this helps.... I fully agree with your comments about him too. Radu's celestial voice has dramatically enriched my life.
Just to add: the Bononcini CD is available from the website Abeillemusique if you can copy and paste the French into the altavista babelfish translator if you don't understand French.

He is a natural male soprano, just do a search for his name online for more info.

He was born with an endocrinological disorder which prevented his voice from changing as he got older.

I keep returning time and again to this aria. I think it is my favorite from him. I love how sweetly he sings the first few bars.
