it looks FAKE to me. the mini bus driver looked like he was expecting the "accident" to happen. Any driver would step on the brake hard to try to stop the vehicle but in this video, he was just slowing down until it collided with the van. After hitting the van, he was just relaxed and waited for the camera to stop filming.
No, the idiot is going near 70 where 50 is allowed. Furthermore - a HK minibus driver thinking of his passengers - thats pretty much unheard of! Also, he slid the last bit due to his high speed and likely bald tires. Most of the minibuses do have bad tires, but this is not really checked upon. You can, however see and hear it all around the city any day, especially on rainy days.
i cant really tell what that other van was doing there, and unless you can detail it, the mini bus driver seems to have done a rather good job of stopping without throwing the passengers through the windshield. The camera was hardly even effected. Im not sure that proves anything besides the anecdotally accidents happen. Seems a bit irresponsible to not provide the context of the accident here. Shame on you. I hope you are not a professor.
i think the drived did fine by slowing down smoothly.. Public buses are told not to stop immediately as there are other pessengers in the back and might hurt with that impact!... Even the double deck bus is allowed to not stop on changing red lights becoz there are pessengers standing and might fall off and get hurt if the driver press the brake too hard..
@onelycheema: the above statement is true but it is just a "theoretical" way of driving. However, It is not true based on my everyday experience when taking public transportation including sometimes the MTR.
his speed is 67(kph?) at 30 seconds when you clearly hear engine slow so hes at least off the gas by 30 seconds. at 38 seconds hes at 30(kph?) so lost 37kph in 8 seconds. for a bus on wet roads thats pretty good. . i drive deckers and in that situation i would have hit that other motor and filed my accident report. large vehicles INCLUDING minibuses dont stop anything like as quick as your wee hatchback. pity other road users dont consider that. still thats what side impact bars are for eh
well if it was for me, I would take the green top, cuz green tops are run by a company, and red tops are just run by the driver. To bad (to the driver) that's on line down. NOOBODY's gonna get u anotha bus.
That driver slammed into that van on purpose....he could've stopped in time but saw some money from this so of course he just applied the brake softly. What a douchbag driver. He saw the van in front of him lose control but decided he needed some days off and an insurance claim....needless to say he didn't really car about his passengers well being.
@jurmongler your wrong my friend, it was a rainy day, you can see the wipers moving, and if that mini bus hit on hard brakes in that rainy day, it would have sliped from back, just like drifting a car, before renting a mini bus, they have to put atleast $5000 HKDS, as deposit and anything happen to the bus, they $5000 is gone forever, Don't always blam them, these kind stupid things is only done by Hong Kong taxi drivers.
@jaydee700 Sorry, there is no excuse for him not braking in time and not trying. Braking to go from 45kmph to 0 would not cause him to slide. Even if he did, it would have gone in a straight line and slowed it down more than it did to minimize impact.
These are desperadoes who will sacrifice others' lives just to squeeze out an extra run. They are a menace to the public.
Ohh I think doubledeck bus drivers are also up to something. The yesterday accident have shocked me. Next year students sould do a research on that. ^^

the mini bus hit the van because if the bus driver slammed on brakes he could lose control

Ouch
I can really feel the impact just by looking at the video
Now what solution have the students come up with?
We just need Bus Uncle to make the story complete
