Awesome vid, quick question though. I have a Hero2 and was thinking of shooting some indoor shots (fitness expo) would you say the Hero2 would get the job done or my iPhone4 would be a better choice? Thanks
I'm not sure between the Iphone4 and the Hero2. On the hero2 it looks good and then all of the sudden when the low light hits a certain point it craps out. I have not figured out the exact point were the gain really kicks in and gets grainy.
Was every camera set at the correct F-Stop for your low light test (F3.5)? What was your 7D set to (ISO, F-Stop, shutter, etc..) and what lens was attached ?
@ifocusfilms Not really The HV9V has no manual control, the gopro has no manual control, the TM90 has either shutter or iris/gain but not all three or even two at a time.
Hello ,i recently bought this camera after watching some of your videos but one massive problem i am having is what i think is known barrel distortion. Massive problem or i have faulty camera. If i take a picture zoomed in at maybe 10x the building in picture looks like its about to tip over, any tips would be associated. Thanks
Hello, i now have hx9v , just can't decide if i should keep it or get Panasonic sd90. I know you have both, would you say videowise the sd90 has the edge apart from quicker autofocus. From what i see the sd90 producer richer colours but i could be wrong. Thanks again
@ryanspianoaccount I think the SD90 is all around better and if you like manual control the SD90 would be the way to go. The HX9V is pretty great though and it is full P&S automatic but it still shoots out some great video in pocket sized form.
Thanks for reply,i actually seen your video on you tube and very good. Does the hx9v gives as good colours as tm90, as one thing i loved about the sd90 was how vibrant the colours produced
Thanks for this video, exactly what i have been looking for. I previously had sd90 and really regretting selling it because thought it was outstanding performance. I have ordered the hx9v and after seeing this i am glad as seems to have best low light performance.do you think overall the sd90-tm90 would massively out perform the Sony or would you say it would be a close call. Thanks in advance
@ryanspianoaccount The main difference I have seen is for really fast moving subjects the HX9V's focus sometimes is a tad slow compared to TM90. The only other thing is there is no AF on or off which I would like every once in a while. Other than that the HX9V is one badass little camera period. The panorama mode is addicting too. Check out my RC boat video for the AF comparison. This cam is making me want to try the Sony A77, the DSLR verion.
Thanks for an Interesting comparison. I have an HX9V but would like a small camera for video that is 'good' in lowlight. I am considering buying the HD Hero2. In your (valued) opinion would you say that the HD Hero2 is better/more sensitive than the HX9V under the above conditions? I.e. using a flashlight.
@xtol8 The HX9V in this video had the exposure turned down -2 stops which is the maximum for effect. The HX9V is pretty much better all around. The Gopro2 is awesome for what it is waterproof,POV cam but not as good as the HX9V. My only nitpick on the HX9V is the focus is a little slow on action stuff and you can't turn off auto focus.
@VisionOneFilms I was not perfect everytime. It was a long push everytime. Like I said I got to start using these things lol, I'll get better with practice.
@lucasberg yah that's my problem when I push/pull, too. It'll do great. That's a sweet little device man. Great vid. Can't wait to see where/how you use it! You are so good.

You clearly are a professional. What do you think of the go pro for indoor use? would you ever use it for indoor natural light use?

@orionsbelt0 Thanks. I use it a lot indoors but mostly for time lapse. The new HD hero 2 is better than the old one for sure.

How was pushing the Pico Flex? It seemed to roll nice; can't quite tell if there is stutter or if it is my playback-overall it looks good.
