My EB-II GT was slow in third too. Being that the Jet 650 donk was putting out so much torque (especially after being stroked, polished and chipped) it would stuff the bearings in the final drive of the box too....
Fords are lovely - and the EF-EL were fantastic lookers... They should have kept them instead of the AU
Like I have said it was only at part throttle. I will do one in my T to 200 at full throttle that will be better for you guys saying this is too slow.
@Paiste402 your a fucking retard.............the car was accelerating and I wanted to see what happened when it hit the speed limiter not get there fast.
I am sure we all know by now that EF/EL 6cyl Fairmonts aren't the fastest accelerating cars in the world.
well they are powerful but not exactly a rocket ship. But see it from a viewing point, cause thats why its on youtube for people to see. Its a video of a car slowly accelerating, dont go calling me a retard until you think if its actually watch worthy.
The shafts can break at anything over 180. There was one car somewhere on the net that broke at 184kmh on a dyno and it set airbags off and caused major damage.
actually the shaft actually breaks in to pieces at 215km/h , not at 190km/h, the car was speed limited from GLi to Fairmont at 175km/h so that POLICE can catch you easier, otherwise these things can simply and easily get to 220km/h + blow the drive shaft, the top SPEED of a stock 4.0Litre OHC at 157k/357Nm 4speed auto is 247km/h, 4km/h slower than EL XR6 164kW variant.
he was just cruising, wasnt even using 50% of the power when he accelerated from 100km/h, i know these cars so well, they literally eat every single production N/A V6 on the market from about 80-180km/h, no joke, a big 4.0Litre OHC does it all and STOCK!, its all in the TORQUE.
Yeah it was a long straight and I had it close to that speed the day before so thought I would film it this time. I hardy even had my foot down and it just cruised up to it nice and slowly hit the limiter.
i hear the tail shafts go on these things at about 190kmh..... not that u should be driving this quick but has anyone heard or experienced this before?
Hi mate, I think there is something seriously wrong with ur car. My EF Mont is stock and is so much quicker to 180 it's not funny. I think that's your coolant warning light blarring on the dash too.
y have the econ switch on for

@hallam193 Urg, mine too. The float just deteriorates and fills with water, bit of a design flaw haha.

MaximusMission 2 years ago
that was slow as and i never had any probs with shafts breaking in mine and that thing snaps the speedo in about 12 seconds
greatdanemastiffx 3 years ago
Like I said it was only like 50% throttle.

@MaximusMission

@Paiste402 I wouldn't even say that they are powerful mate.
The video is EXACTLY whats in the title. It doesnt say FAST or anything like that.
How about you chuck up a video of you doing a FAST accelerating run to 180?

Yeah but you dont want to find out about it at those speeds. :)

just leave it in 3rd in the autos and accelerate from about 100, it will be hard to catch.
bigcbr 3 years ago
good way to fuck the gear box though
greatdanemastiffx 3 years ago
u need sum coolant
yodan001 3 years ago
Nah it was a faulty sensor. Never used water except right before I sold it :)

Nah I have never heard of that.
I guess that could be a reason why the limiter is set to 180.
MaximusMission 3 years ago
Dont try to repeat this.
MaximusMission 3 years ago
coz I'v got a 6cyl fairmont 97.
Jazza467 3 years ago
hay mate is that a 6 or an 8?
Jazza467 3 years ago
6cyl. Whys that???
MaximusMission 3 years ago
That was just cruising upto 180kph,
You can tell by the revs as I was just easing it upto there as I had never hit the limiter before and was wondering what would happen.
That radiator light was on for 4 years as it had a faulty sensor and I never had a problem with it.
230000k's and it never even did a head gasket but was using a tiny bit of water before I sold it.
Now the turbo gets to 180 heaps faster.
