I dont know why they never include this in any video collections. This is my first time seeing this after being a fan since the start. They must have hid it from America.
i can't believe it. i've never seen this video before even though dm have always been my favourite band. i remember being at college and one of my mates was telling me about a video where they were smashing plates and stuff and i'd no idea what he was talking about. he wasn't sure if it was dm or tears for fears though so i thought he was getting mixed up. wonder why it wasn't on the some great videos video? would have cleared that up a long time ago. god bless youtube.
@PeterShishlin most indeed. and this was their least liked according to their official biography, I forget the quote but it was along the lines of it being completely ridiculous
I saw this video when I was four. My parents weren't happy when I tried to imitate them and took a hammer to the groceries. I would watch this video over and over again on the VCR. I didn't speak or understand a word of English but absolutely loved Depeche Mode. I have been searching for this video on youtube for a long time so glad somebody posted the original video.
not sure why DM tried very hard to omit this interestingly shot video on any of their VHS and DVD releases. And seeing them bouncing on those yoga balls is priceless :)
leave in silence it's my fav Depeche Mode song, it's actually simple song with big depth....always reminds me many things, thirlls me. I think more like this song shuld be made. I love Depeche Mode :)
who is doing things like this in this days ...its so crap but soooo funny in the same time...like most of the videos in that time....blue yellow red green coloured depeche mode i mean that is something...andy warhol in depeche mode early days?
1.06 martin wacks Daves head, Dave tries not to laugh, and you can see it n Daves face b4 he goes blue + at the end Dave and Martin are laughing just like in the end strange love...........fantastic.....LOVE THE TUNE ..THE BAND ...AND ALL THEY STAND FOR!.
WHAT is there to get? Do explain Mr Genious? A very literal, poorly executed embarrassing interpretation of an atmospheric song, EH EH? IS THAT WHAT? The band doesn't even get it. Thats why they would rather forget it. See?
@videoreff I also prefer their early stuff but to say this is one of the few memorable records from the early 80s is rubbish. There were tons of memorable records from the early 80s. To be honest, as much as I love this record, if you played it to the average Jo Bloggs they probably WOULDN'T know it.
@videoreff Yes I agree, their early work was more thought provoking and the music was more intricate and experimental. For me, I lost interest in DM when Violator came out. That album was really music for the masses lol! But I miss simple ethereal tunes like Leave in Silence.
@aramanth You're about right there. I've got to credit DM for having been a good band but I always had them down as the band with the most potential. For old times sake I saw them a while back in London but I just didn't get it. The current DM aren't for me but hey, there were a lot of hardcore fans in the building, more luck to them.
