Impressive take off distance! I wonder if you could simplify it by using 2 motors/props instead of the servo. It would be fun to make a really tiny one with pager motors or just hack one of those cheap 2 motor rc planes.
Very nice! Although it doesn't run on the same principle as the ground effect typically experienced on conventional aircraft, it is cool none the less. The true ground effect requires airfoiled wings which form vortices that 'trap' air under the wing, while your GEV is generating lift by directing thrust down as opposed to creating 2 pressure regions.
