  • Do you place the egg in vinegar before that part??

  • COOL

  • shouldn't the egg be brusting soon because there is too much water going into the egg?

  • quick question why does the water move in and out... someone please help!! thanks

  • @kenna1760 watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aubZU0iWtgI#!

  • @kenna1760 Look up Osmosis and Diffusion.

  • Yeah that music is awesome

  • What is this music you used? Its so intense!!

  • the egg was getting so big that i seriously was expecting it to explode...

  • this is so cool!!!!

  • thank you i almost go an F on my project

  • Aww, I was kinda hoping for the egg to burst at the end! Still, quite a cool video :)

  • I did something similar to do for my science project in 8th grade. Instead I showed how placing a egg in a different liquid affects it in different ways. I placed 5 eggs into a liquid. I used vinegar, freshwater, saltwater, coke, and sugarwater. If I remember correctly the egg in vinegar had similar results but instead was bigger and can be compared to a ballon and can be poped simply by poking it with your finger. as for the other eggs nothing major happened just darked in color or spoiled.

  • This music reminds me of metroid prime lol

  • thank goodness for this video..now i actually get osmosis! haha

  • is there a shell on it

  • thank you youtube and thank you thsharpe

  • Osmosis

Hypertonic: 0:20 - 0:50 the solution with a higher concentration of solute is said to be hypertonic. The sugar has higher concentration then the egg.

Hypotonic: 0:50 +, the solution with a lower solute concentration is said to be hypertonic. In this case the water has lower concentration of solute then the egg. Osmosis always tends toward equilibrium or an isotonic state.

Isotonic: Solution of equal solute concentration.

when the egg cant expend or contract its at a Isotonic state

  • poor egg

  • clarksville nig

  • penis

  • Wow this video is messed

  • @thsharpe Will do! This is much easier than trying to do the experiment in class. Well done.

  • instead of corn syrup?

  • thunbs if you're using this for science class

  • does the egg explode of let out for a day??

    any1?

  • Good combination with d video and the music.....

I was listening to d music plus understanding what was been though

  • oH nice experiment

  • TO clear up basic concept of osmosis, it is a classical demo. Can we copy it or down load free for educational purpose?

  • I love it!..SCIENCE!

  • OHHH SOO CRREEEPPPY MUSIC

  • LOL I WANT THE EGG BECOME MORE BIGGER AND BIGGER UNTIL IT BURST. DO U THINK IT WILL BURST IF IT IS TOO BIG ENOUGH?

  • did it smell ?

  • Awesome!! This just made osmosis so easy to understand!! Apparently I'm a VISUAL learner!! LOVE IT!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

  • eeek, it took me 4 hours to have wrinkles

  • So kool! :)

  • This is how you make zombie chickens.

  • yay science!

  • This is the 1st ever time it has said 'Do try this at home' :P :P

  • @thsharpe How much is going to egg expand to? You left it for 2 hours but can it expand more?

  • @crevasse7023 probably

  • want to eat the egg!!!

  • where's the EGGSPLOSION?!

  • where's the EGGSPLOSION?!

  • but will it blend?

  • i put my egg in vinegar instead for my science project. I'm then going to put it in water and see if it explodes.

  • @Shadicxoholic you should video it

  • Which rate of reaction is faster, Hypotonic or Hypertonic, why? If it depends on the solution its in, how does it depend on it??

    Thanks :)

  • i thought animal cells burst out in hypotonic solution

  • @rheeacool Yes if the concentration gradient is large enough it will burst. The pure water just isn't enough to make it do that.

  • @MsNightfox213 then it should be getting larger and larger as large as it can be, why does it only grow upto a certain extent?

  • @rheeacool

Animal cells in pure water will expand until they burst (lysis) but plant cells have a strong cell wall which is able to resist the pressure and the cell simply expand to their maximum volume. They become what we call TURGID

  • @N4Z1M this is an animal cell and i know that , it won't burst since Msnightfox says pure water isn't enough to make it do that ! then why does it stops after expanding upto a certain extent? shouldn't it just keep expanding until it becomes the size of the earth?

  • @rheeacool

Does this egg have a shell?

  • @N4Z1M am i talking dumb? :S

  • @N4Z1M No, it was initially dissolved in vinegar.

  • so honey would work

  • just saved me from getting a F on my project

    thank you!

  • that,is some intense music

  • @stewievader4 for just an egg....lol

  • cool! x

  • This is a really interesting experiment. Might if I try it for a science fair project? What other things could you soak the egg in?

  • thanx for this video

it helped with my science project for school

  • cheese look at my channel i am your student

  • we did this in life science
