Ignorance and prejudice are the sad consequences of low education, low employment and generally low expectations in life. There are two kinds of people in Cornwall, the haves and the have nots and this kind of thing, deplorable on a human level, can be seen as part of the miserable lot of Cornwall in 2009. When 49% of West Peniwth children live below the poverty line we can hardly expect enlightenment. It's all bleack and sorry I am afraid.

Well in my 20yrs as an out gay man I can personally 'NAME' & 'IDENTIFY' a great many police officers in the Cornwall force who ARE unquestionably homophobic, dishonest & prejudicial in their attitudes & practises towards gay persons.

We privately hold a list of these abusive officers now.

There is not the slightest shadow of doubt in both my experience & observation of the inherent homophobic attitudes prevelent & protected within / by the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.

Unfortunately many gays in Cornwall ATTACK any lesbian or gay person who makes legitimate complaint regarding the continuing problem of Institutional Homophobia in Cornwall.

Twenty years I have been a visible, 'Out N Proud' gay equality & HIV/AIDS campaigner and I'm NOT WELCOME at the local Cornwall pride event for my speaking out on homophobia!!!

i am originally a fellow cornish person that has moved to brighton within the last year.

i attended cornwall pride last year and was amazed by some of the stories i heard about the homophobia within the area i lived in.

This has really opened my eyes and no matter how much i love cornwall i am thankful that i no longer live there.

Now I know why most of our Gay friends in Cornwall are still in the closet, this video has shocked me to the core. We both love Cornwall and had intended to retire here, but after seeing this we are having second thoughts. It would appear that the Cornish Police are too ashamed to post a response, far to busy blowing their own trumpet on the wonderful community relations the have, except if you are Gay. Regretably the twenty-two recommendations made by the Independent Police Complaints Commission AGAINST Devon & Cornwall police as a result of gay complaints relate to events from 2004-06.
